OK, shall we see if we can out-pessimism each other?

With decades of seeing the Giants falter pre-2010, and the Niners losing last year in a game we had no business blowing, I have reason to be pessimistic as do most in San Francisco. If that wasn't bad enough for the bay area, there's the Sharks and Warriors there to give us false hope only to find creative ways to lose at the worst time.

I think in some ways the Niners team we have is among the most talented when hot, but suffers from inconsistency and meltdowns. Only a fool who hasn't watched the Niners will think Seattle is going to be a cake walk.

One analyst put it right on the money when he said Seattle's best player is their stadium. The Seattle-SF grudge could turn out to be the greatest NFL rivalry in years, but certainly top five of all time:

In threes? You mean like how SF when to the home field of the best team in the NFC last January and knocked them out of the playoffs? Yeah, this game is about whose luck runs out last.

I see
  • M. Lynch: probable – not injury related
  • –––––
  • M. Crabtree: probable – wrist
  • F. Gore: probable – knee
... amongst others

Lynch always sits out the first couple of days of practice. And the injury report always says that .But. I get an weird feeling. He's been battered a lot this season and Pete Carroll is the kind of coach that doesn't ..Let's call it.. Explain all injuries.

I am just getting a bad feeling about this game.

Wilson has been mediocre the past few games since Sydney Rice got injured.

Kap scares the hell out of me. And he's on a mission.

Kap is always on a mission and like Steve Young or Joe Montana, that's a great thing about him with that 100% percent commitment. But so far he hasn't been playing to his potential every game and we never know who is going to show up at any given game. He's on about two out of every three times and I think he gets himself frustrated easily and makes mistakes. He's not lacking in desire though.

If Kap could add the run to his passing then we will have the best day we can hope for and if Wilson isn't the 100 passer he averaged in first two years then I have hope. The key on offenses, at least, is Kap needs to get running yard and Wilson needs to be mediocre. Every win here in every sport we have is important but this trip to Seattle is probably the most anticipated game I could think of for us in years. I don't know if any of the other teams still standing could honestly say that. We have to prove we can beat Seattle and we have to prove the trip to the Super Bowl last year was not a fluke. If we could pull off a win today then others could start considering us a a real perennial threat like the Packers or Patriots. A true perennial threat is a team that could start the season poorly but still have everyone expect a postseason because they are, well, a perennial threat. I don't want to be like the Giants or Falcons or Ravens where people think, "Oh, they got into the postseason this year".

Denver has completely taken over and is controlling the game. I said it before, it's amazing how far the Patriots have come given their defence, but it has caught up to them. The receivers for Denver seem to do whatever they want and the Patriots can't stop them.

The loss of Talib certainly didn't help. And neither are these long, long Denver drives.

Very anti-climatic game.

Game has been one-sided. This game is going to further that argument that defences do make a huge difference and Manning finally is on a team with a legit defence and you can see how different he game plan is. While Manning can throw up points, he doesn't need to, instead he can control the clock with drives similar to their first one in the second half.

Over 400 yds. for Manning. Most ever in a conference championship since 1966.

Brady Facepalm.

I'm not too sure about that. While the 49ers and Seahawks both have dominant defenses, they haven't played an offense like Denver has. Regardless of who wins the NFC, this years SB is going to be quite a game!

This next shot of polar vortex is supposed to hang around awhile, might be a cold Superbowl.

What a great game! The Patriots couldn't get any pressure on Manning, and couldn't cover our receivers. The backbreakers were the 7 minute drive to start the 3rd quarter and the sack on Brady on 4th down late in the 3rd quarter.

As good as the Seahawks defense is, they have no chance to win the Super Bowl if Russell Wilson can't throw the ball. The style the Seahakws play might work with average to decent offenses where they can wear the other team out but with a Manning led team, you have to have some sort of offense and Russell Wilson just isn't that type of QB and it's not like Denver's defense is garbage...

Losing harbinger hurt a lot. If they lose they'll def need to upgrade the receiving core. Golden Tate should not be your best wr

Kap is only 3 for 5 for 17 yards. Tell him that.

But he's playing a team that isn't exactly an offensive juggernaut. That won't cut it against the Broncos. You still have to score more points than the other team to win. If either of these teams can't find a way to get their offenses going, they won't have much of a chance.

This is applicable to the 49ers as well but from what I've seen, if Kaepernick doesn't throw, I've seen him run and for a lot yards to make up for his throwing deficit. I haven't seen that from Wilson. Take a look at his last 3 games. You can't tell me that the Seahawks have a great chance winning the Super Bowl against the Broncos if Wilson is going to throw less than 200 yards and rush for 10 yards..
