Cracking final but Arsenal just about edged it in the end. Still, Hull didn't put a foot wrong.

In other news, Tata Martino steps down after todays result.

And Bayern look set to take the Polka.

Definitely aged about 10yrs after watching that.

Full credit to Hull City for making it one of the most exciting finals i've ever seen in recent memory. Even though it wasn’t good for my health.

Always knew it'd be nothing like the previous meetings but wasn't expecting that by any stretch. Heart in mouth. Acute Nausea etc.

Just glad the lads dug deep and edged over the line in the end. And of course...Aaron Ramsey. The cherry on top for Wenger, who got his subs spot on.

Commiserations to the Tigers. Felt my chest tighten when the cameras panned to Huddlestone.

Best wishes in Europe.

So then...

9 years No Trophy 1 Trophy. Abysmal really. :)

Meanwhile...

Its been over 3hrs since Wenger won anything...so bad that the timer can't even keep up anymore. He needs to go. Wenger OUT! Specialist in Failure!

(Gonna have a lie down now)

Exactly.

The 9 years no trophy thing is a silly, narrow-minded criticism the media and rival fans came up with to use as a weapon against Wenger and his Club.

Many clubs would LOVE to be in Arsenal's position despite the so-called 'flaws'.

Glad Allam backed off on the name thing. Owners should respect club traditions/history.

Now all thats left is for Tan to return to Cardiff's traditional colours.

Not that i'm holding my breath.

Unfortunately, he hasn't. Although he was turned down by the FA He's appealing the decision with the Court of Sport Abritration, and has been chipping off about it again in interviews this past week. Season pass renewals haven't gone out yet but I'll be surprised if we're referred to as 'Hull City' on them.

Round Two.

The FA cup from yesterday was a reminder of how football should be played. It was a joy to watch, the Tigers fought to the last, I am sure they will leave their mark on Europe next season.

D'oh. You're right.

Thought the FA rebuttal had been enough.

23/24C weather for a grueling 120mins

Unsurprising the toll in the end.

Ice baths and Lucozade/Coconut Water for everyone.

As well as the temperature it was also really close, it just felt uncomfortable and stifling.

A worry of mine pre-match was that as Arsenal would most likely have the lion's share of possession we'd spend a lot of time chasing, and fatigue could be a problem for us. So it came to pass.

I was knackered and thirsty enough stood watching, never mind having to play football.

HSV won the relegation. Unbelievable. They won with 1:1 away (after 0:0 at home). What a pitty for Greuther Fürth.
I thought takao or tweetie would comment on the relegation, but maybe they are still to impressed and or shocked about the Hummels goal that was not given and/or the win of Bayern. :)
Though I don't like Bayern, good decision by Pep to bring Götze and Müller from the beginning and surprising good idea to use a three-player defense.

Back on the relegation:
I was discussing the away rule with a friend, he said, since both team are the home team once they both have the same chances. My point was, that it can make a psychological difference, if you win or loose your home match, if it is your first match.

----
Also astonished how fast and easy the Tuchel "problem" at Mainz resolved, without discussion and media exagerating emphasis on it. (Maybe it was over to fast and the reason that all sides did not comment further or let things leak). The club management must do a good press job.
They just anounced they get a danish Coach of the danish first league next season.

Dante's legs are a side stride apart for him to clear the ball with the front leg on the goal line. It was easy to see live, how did the linesman miss it? Bad positioning? Was Hummels offside?

mojolicious - clock - over a day, not looking good.

Talk of heat reminds me of Gary Lineker :( - from FourFourTwo:

Gary Lineker on Mexico 86...

How did it feel to be in Mexico?

The start of the tournament was underwhelming. I’d dreamed about playing in a World Cup all my life, but when I finally achieved it, the pitches were crappy, there were tiny crowds and it was 40-degree heat. I was losing half a stone or more every game.

The group games started badly. We lost to Portugal and drew with Morocco. We had the Bryan Robson injury and Ray Wilkins got sent off for throwing the ball at the ref. Things were going against us, and we were getting hammered by the media – although without the internet in those days, you didn’t know quite how bad it was! The mood in the camp was still great, though.

Cheers,
OW

Only 10-11 weeks until the Community Shield!

On the one hand, it formed part of Liverpool's earth-shattering Quintuple of 02, which obviously meant that Liverpool were TWO BETTER than the Manchester United of 98-99.

On the other, it didn't seem to impress the Glazers any.

When In Arsene We Trusters are defending the octogenarian manager in 2030, hopefully they won't have to argue whether the SpecialistInFailureClock started in May or in August 2014.

I swear he'll still be Arsenal's manager when he's a Futurama head in a jar.

Speaking of Managers. United confirm their new gaffer will be LVG for the next 3yrs.

Giggs his Assistant. RVP likely to be his Capitan.

RVP likely to be his Capitan.
Madness.

My first move as the incoming Man U manager would be to tell David de Gea he's the captain, and we'll review his appointment in 2025.

I'm surprised that Giggs is the AM, too. I'd tell him to bugger off and actually, y'know, manage a football team for five seasons or more.

Manchester United not there to defend the Community Shield. :(:)

Wenger to hold the spot for Arsenal until the candidates become available in two or three years?

RVP(RvP?) - no surprise if he is Captain; the list is short and LVG(LvG?) trusts him in the role. I'm sure it will get someone's back up.;)

Giggs - take over the FA Cup and League Cup teams in the third year? They want LVG to work his magic.

LVG - 'Running is for animals. You need a brain and a ball for football.' :)

Cheers,

Something very exciting has happened just a minute ago. Unfortunately I missed the match and only saw the last 13minutes.

Relegation:
Bielefeld (2nd league) won the first leg with 3:1, away.
In the second leg (this evening) Darmstadt (3rd league) won 4:2 in the 120th minute. Then in the 122nd Bielefeld got a free kick and the ball was cleared to the corner. The corner was there last chance, but they didn't make it and the match was over.

Darmstadt had given Wolfsburg (1st) league a hard time in the 2013 DFB-Pokal.

They said Hummels was not offside, afterwards....
