Jaffa's off to Wembley.

Well done to Hull City Football Club.
Note no mention of stripey large cat like creature.

Heh - we like Tigers, and love our nickname. We just don't want it tacked onto a butchered version of our current proper name.

But here's a thought - the semi-final will be on 12/13th April. The FA are apparently voting on the name change on 9th April. Let's hope we travel to London in celebratory mood.

I'm sure you must be rooting for man city to beat Wigan today, since that would mean that the winner of the Hull - Sheff Utd semifinal would almost certainly get a Europa League place.

...and so lightning struck twice. Wigan dump City out of the FA Cup...at the Etihad no less.

All pressure on Wenger now.

Well done, Jaffa!!! :D

Massive kudos to Wigan as well, a heroic performance and City have no excuse.

Speaking of no excuse, Wenger is really under the gun now, he has a very good chance to win a trophy here, though with the league title still possible he has some tough choices to make.

I say give Bayern a slap in the face by putting out a reserve side, and then give the FA Cup maximum effort.

Spring really is in the air it’s 20℃ today.

It's 20 here. 20 Fareneheit. :roll eyes: (actually it got up to 35F today. Balmy.)

On paper its Arsenal's trophy but they must be careful and remember their Blackburn, Bradford and Birmingham experiences. Also after today's result, they must be very wary of Wigan as well. They've just beaten City away hence choked full of confidence, and they will have revenge on their minds because Arsenal effectively relegated them last season if i recall correctly.

The good news for Arsenal is that the game is in April which means Ramsey and Kallstrom will probably have returned from the medical room.

I think it'll be an Arsenal vs Hull final. But its the FA Cup so you never know...

City's exit will have cured that Capital One hangover which also makes the EPL run-in much more interesting now. Unless of course the Capital One curse strikes again. Birmingham, Liverpool and Swansea anyone?

On another note, Arda has batted his eyelashes at Wenger, except not really.

United on the other hand want Cavani and Vermaelen.

I'm rooting for Hull City AFC...

@Lordblackadder:

You say "bitberger", maybe we are talking about a different beer. Was it this one? https://www.bitburger.de/ (first aprove by clicking on the left, that you are at least 16, then scroll down a bit to see the different makes/flavours).

-------
Today: it is the last match day of the Women's Algarve Cup, before the Finale.

USA-Denmark (broadcasted free of fee via Eurosport) (15:30 Berlin time)
Germany-Norway (broadcasted free of fee via Eurosport) (18:00 Berlin time)

Sweden-Japan (pay-tv eurosport2) (!!! they swapped it, SWE-JAP free and USA-DEN pay-tv)
(winner will play Finale against GER, though Sweden is in the better position)

Edit: Oh my God, 39min. DEN 3:0 USA. (1corner, 1 accidentally when US-defender shot against Den. player.)
SWE-JAP: 40min. SWE 1:0 (corner). (Both doing good: Swe. good defense plus minor short/quick attacks, Jap. good ball possession/passing and much attacking).

Wednesday Finale:

Group B: USA is on the third place in the table in it's group (1point - Sweden and Japan have 6 and 4 points!)

Though it is very unlikely that Denmark will score against USA today, they will have to make 3 goals to have the better rank than USA.
A surprisingly poor USA this year (they lost the tempo, they got under the former coach).

Group A: Germany has 6 points in it's group, while China and Iceland both 3 points (china with better goal difference, if I get it right).

Surprise: Norway 0 points so far and on the last place, would not change much, if they point against Germany, but would be interesting though!

Group C (with Austria (first time attender), Russia, North Korea and Portugal) do not play for the Finale.

Completely shocked at USA's terrible play in the Algarve Cup. The squad has the players, maybe it is the new manager. after all.

Yep, it was that one. It was horrible. But then again, it may have been rather old when I bought it. Very bitter, with a skunky flavor behind that, and a metallic aftertaste.

Endresult:
Japan got 2:1 ahead of Sweden in the 90th minute. So they will meet Germany in the Finale

USA 3:5 Denmark

Hope they get their power and strenght back till WC 2015.
Denmark being so good (a small hint to them getting better was seen at the EuroCup, I'd say) at least makes 2015 more interesting.

On the beer. Maybe it is the difference between bottle and can. Also, I know that Guinness does a different stout for the continent than for Ireland. Maybe that is the case with Bitburger, too.
Or it is the same recipe, but it is due to geography (like it tastes different if you are very low or live in the hills or have different climate. Cola does a different recipe for nearly every continent to meet the taste there). From what you call bitter beers, I find Bitburger one of the sweeter bitter beers, but that is subjective, of course.

USA will need to work hard if they want to keep up their international reputation. We do have some aging players, and with a new coach I suppose the team is in transition.

It's all relative - I like some other beers that are technically more bitter. Like I said, I have to reserve final judgment unless I could taste it fresh at the tap. Import beers rarely do justice to the original. Even here in Cleveland, I find that fresh bottled microbrew tastes different than the same beer fresh from the tap.

At Great Lakes Brewing Company, they run pipes under the street straight from the finishing tanks in the brewery to the taps in their bar. So the beer you drink there is literally straight from the production line. :D

Haha, great. Now get a public water, äh, beer supply system. :D

GER-DEN ended 3:1 btw.

The curious thing was they had the same referee as at the EuroCup, that gave two foul penalties (one was wrong and one was questioned), both were hold by the German keeper, she was the total hero after that, but both were badly shot.
This time the penalty came after the 2nd minute, but was a right decision. It was well shot and the German keeper didn't hold it, though she was flying in the right corner.
The German team got more organized, when the (recently) more usual starting players were all changed in. That showed that there is no reason to panic, but it keeps being tedious with the players that do not have much playing time. With the common players (despite some very young talented ones, that catch up due to their better technique) it seem as if there are more automatic flows.

Norway did not have so many problems with passing. The commentator said, that the condition of the field doesn't allow the German team (as others had too) to pass a ball and directly route it further to the next, so as if it was better to first keep it and then pass further.

The Finale will now be Japan-Germany.

For those interested: we're witnessing the formal downfall of 'Uli' Hoeness right now in Germany. And how very pleasing that is I might add. Atm he evaded roughly 24m € in taxes. But that's just an estimate and inflated pretty much over the last two days (started at 3.5m).

Hope for a 3:1 Arsenal sweep. Hoeness will be witnessing this in the stadium so make it happen Arsene!

Oh, almost forgot:

Doubt it will get any better than this (handcuffs an' all)...but still AWESOME!

Arsenal could win the game if they play well and Bayern play poorly. But, sadly, I don't think it will happen.

Obviously it's a PR black eye for Hoeness and Bayern but is there any chance he will face jail time for this? Does Germany have a "fit and proper persons test" like they do in England, and if they do does it actually do anything in this case?

I saw this quote in Bild from Pep Guardiola:

The best thing to help Uli is to win the game.

Bad form, Pep. Why would anyone want to "help" a fat cat crook?

PR black eye is seriously understated. He is was a very powerful institution within Germany. Not sure what a "fit and proper persons test" is but yes, chances are (good :D) that he'll face jail time. Doesn't mean he actually is in jail during the day but has to 'sleep' there. :D

Anyway, there is actually no way around a conviction for him anymore. There won't be a deal or whatever cop-out is possible that much is pretty much clear now. Heck, there may be a story behind all this much worse than what we got to know publicly right now (very little) but still he's going to lose every last bit of respect and public leverage he hold the last decades so I'm pretty satisfied anyway and can thoroughly enjoy my popcorn. :D

Arsenal, I agree. But who knows...:D
Fingers crossed.

Also, please consider what an estimated (best case scenario in favor for Hoesness) amount of evaded taxes means regarding the overall sums. I mean he ain't no sheik or oligarch and there are numbers, accounts and questions raised which get Bayern Munich fans fingers crossing that their high-and-mighty club isn't dragged into this as well.

This is soooo good!

Oh, we're at 26.2 millions right now. :D
