for all in (german speaking) central Europe:

Servus TV(Astra 19.2) has saved themselves the rights for the copa del rey final between Barca & Real on wednesday 16.04.

thankfully they are broadcasting 1080i so no blurry streams this year

San Jose 1 - 1 Columbus (3-1-1, 1st place in the East)

A fairly routine away draw apart from a little spat between Columbus defender Gonzalez and SJ forward Wondolowski. Not happy to see our man pulling that Busquets-like dive.

Thanks!
I didn't know they have enough budget for international matches. (I watch documentaries there, from time to time, usually.)

RedBull bought a 95% share in 2007 so their budget is more of a bottomless pot of gold

they often get slamed as "corperate TV" but if you ignore the "RedBull TV window" which is filled with extreme sports sponsored by red bull ;), the rest of the programm is quite nice:
ice hockey live coverage is professional and surprisingly neutral considering they have their own squads in germany and in the central european league
their cultural programm including discussion talks etc. is ace with really great guests most of the time. night and day difference to the amateur idiots on austrian TV.
Their sports talk is also very often quite interesting.

i really hoped that they would get the rights to the Austrian Bundesliga so that we finally get professional coverage... but sadly the ORF get's it by default it seems

i don't see a problem…

I feel like Liverpool are set up for the big fall now. It probably won't happen against Norwich, but I can easily see one of my two least favorite managers (Mou, Pulis) presiding over the big collapse. That will be a bitter pill.

Now that Fergie's gone my dislike of Man Utd has softened. But Mou/Terry's Chelsea ticks me off as much as ever.

Wondo can be a whiny little twit, so it galls me to see our guy behave worse.

You're such a sissy. ;) I could swear I read the exact same comment every other GW since the season started from you. So yeah, keep on LB! :D

I admit it. I was always the one hiding behind the couch because I couldn't bear to watch while everyone else cheered even the lost causes. Plus, I come from a sports town that has never won anything in my lifetime - but has suffered a few heartbreaking failures. I'm a massive sports pessimist. :p

Hopefully you'll get cured this season. ;)

But regardless if Liverpool wins the trophy or not, this season was highly successful anyway!

If Chelsea win it, all the excitement will give way to a very familiar ending. At least Man City are relative newcomers, though I'll quickly tire of them taking title after title in the years to come.

I was really hoping to see Liverpool and Arsenal duke it out for top honors but it hasn't panned out that way. Chelsea and Man City simply have too much money invested in their squads to fall away that badly. Spurs' early promise also fell completely flat, though Everton are at least fighting hard to break into the CL.

The problem with rooting for underdogs is that they usually lose...

Ehm, what would you have said if I'd have told you before the season that Pool would be placed second in the end? That'd have been a great disappointment for you? And now it's in their very own hands and you still play the violin...well, to each their own I guess. Glass is half empty me thinks...at best! ;)

Quite true, quite true. Had you told me Liverpool would finish second I would not have believed it at all.

It's been an excellent season for Liverpool and one I'm sure most Liverpool fans will remember for years regardless of the outcome. Most football fans don't get pampered the way Liverpool fans have this season with the swashbuckling play Rogers' men have been showing week after week. There have been plenty of title-winning teams since '92 that have been far more boring.

I can invasion a scenario in which Chelsea and Liverpool draw at Anfield, putting Man City back in the driver's seat, and leaving Liverpool hoping that Everton can take points off City when they play in early May.

I think that such a scenario is likely. I simply don't see Liverpool beating Chelsea.

Some Everton fans have been quoted in various papers, forums, podcasts etc as stating they'd rather miss out on champions League qualification if by doing so they could ruin Liverpool's chance at the title. Surely they must be in the small minority? If I were in the same position but with Man United in Liverpool's place and Liverpool in Everton's I'd still want to make it into the Champions League above all else...it would be a massive step forward for Everton.

Dat touch by Giroud for the second goal...

On Liverpool; I actually think Liverpool will win the title, having edged City this weekend i'm now a believer if you like. Mourinho will play his usual 4-5-1 with Luiz alongside Matic.

But Liverpool have 3 (or 2 depending on Sturridge) with pace up front. And its at Anfield. I'd play Lucas alongside Gerrard though.

Logically it should be a draw but i have a feel that won't be the case.

On another note, Lewy bagged his hundredth goal for BVB to send them into the cup final. United target Gundogan is staying put as well having extended his contract. Kroos looks set to stay too, and Sammer has ruled out Mandzukic's exit. Which means Arsenal and United have to look elsewhere.

Speaking of United and Arsenal, the former is looking to bring in the latter ex-CDM Alex Song from Barca. But i doubt Barca will sell to anyone to anybody given their transfer ban.

Chelsea's recent successful champions league campaign broke my mind - they seem able to craft a victory from anywhere, under any circumstances. Until I see Liverpool walking off the field victorious I will hardly dare to believe it possible.

If Chelsea had a 2009-10-era Drogba playing for them (Or a 2007-08-era Torres or 2008-09 edition of Eto'o for that matter) they would have already sewn up the title by now.

With Gerrard playing in a deeper defensive role I worry that he and Lucas in the same midfield might isolate the forwards a bit in the absence of Henderson's work rate, though Sterling has proven well able to link the midfield with the attack. Joe Allen has been playing well though and Coutinho has also found form at the right moment so there are options.

If the ban holds up I can't see Barca selling a single player. They are already in dire need of a strengthening and will be in terrible shape as it is, particularly in defense.

Remembering how poorly Everton did when they last qualified for the Champions League (in 05) they may have a point.

Gundogan:

Will he be able to manage the situation with his back and play to the high level we've seen? His current club is a good place to be for support whilst he/we find out. If he wants to leave, those interested will want proof he can hack it. 25-26 in June 2016, plenty of time if it goes well and Barcelona will be back in the market.

Kroos:

Playing the money game; if he doesn't get it and doesn't back down, are Bayern happy to get one more season or do they take a good offer?

Barcelona; they would be nuts to get rid of any catering staff.

Cheers,
OW

Different team, different manager. I guess the question becomes, do you really care more about watching your rivals fail than achieving anything yourself? Everton have a solid team under an exciting manager, I think it would be great to see them in Europe.

Wouldn't that be crazy if Liverpool and Everton drew each other in the Champions League? What a derby.

Yes. ;)

Kroos:

It's a lot of money, but then again he's playing in a team that are gobbling up trophies at the moment.

Who else is Man Utd going after?

Going by the last close season window, they will waste time trying to sign Messi, Ronaldo, Bale...and end up with Lennon for over GBP 25m.:D In reality, Reus will probably be the object of this year's kiss chase.

Carvalho at Sporting Lisbon has been watched time and time again, deal stories keep appearing. Shaw, but how strong is the desire between him and Chelsea? Sevilla's Rakitic and Moreno have been mentioned in passing. Garay is a done deal every other week. Looking at a left back, two midfielders, and an experienced centre back to bring Evans/Jones/Smalling/Keane through. Sit back and enjoy the soap opera.

Everton; Champions League = Lukaku money? Would wages be a problem?

Finally, the big World Cup question; will Bebe be in the Portugal squad? :)

Cheers,
OW
