United must've sacrificed to the gods of football. People just can't score against them.

But on another note they're making a strong case for finishing 3rd. Only 8pts off the summit. Would laugh so hard if they go on to win the title.

Although 2nd goal was offside, Liverpool once again only have themselves to blame. Pressure mounts further on Brendan.

united have no chance of the title

Speaking of CL...

Draw is out

FINALLY we get some luck. Phew! :D

I find Bayern has the easiest draw with Donezk (compare to what the other teams have to play against), but maybe we will see a surprise (as in: lower win by Bayern, than expected)
Could be worse... Dortmund is still stuck in 16th place _1_ point ahead of the last spot... I suspect every other coach would have been fired by now.

How they still managed to win their CL group is a mystery to me.
Maybe they remember his work in Mainz, where he had jumped forth and back between leagues with the team. :D

Hehe, though Mainz only has 4 points more than the last one, they did give Bayern a good fight. They went 1:0, then Bayern went 1:1 due to a free kick (from a slight tackle, but the arm was to high), Mainz ran a lot and then Bayern went 2:1 in the 90th minute. Well, things have changed, but some things never change. :)

I give up. Had enough really.

Being outplayed by a team with no strikers, midfield, or defence and even a man down. Starting to think we won't make top 4 this year. Joke really.

Cheers Wenger.

See you all next season.

Today's news is saying Wenger has said the memories of the 5-1 defeat may have affected Arsenal's performance.

Personally, if that's true, I think it's a poor excuse. Why would Arsenal be scared of Suarez & Sturridge, because let's face it, Liverpool are half the team without them. And if that is the case, surely it's down to Wenger to get his players in the right mindset?

That was a sweet header though...:) Don't know if it would have been defensible, even if they hadn't shied away as they did. Skrtel was coming hard and had the angle.

If they put a second man on the post like some other teams it gets blocked.

Wenger is just coming up with excuses. At the end of the day, they let him down again big time. Only Cazorla and Szczesny showed up from what i saw.

Arsenal will be fine on the season, but they still have a soft underbelly and can't defend narrow leads.

Liverpool are a mess right now.

Gary Neville has just ripped into both teams.

Problem is Rodgers and Wenger are both too philosophical about football and are stubborn to boot (we won't change how we play for anybody). Its all style, attack, attack, technique, pace and movement. Fair enough, but that just means you're likely a leaky basket for goals at the back.

They try to be sentimentally Barcelona-esque...forgetting that even Barca in their prime knew how to defend.

Wenger succeeded initially because he had David Dein, and consequently, self-sufficient players/leaders who took care of the finer details. Rodgers succeeded because he had a lethal front 3 and fewer matches. Plus Chelsea's team was incomplete, United were in disarray, and City had a slow start.

Mourinho and Fergie have always been ruthlessly pragmatic, hence their success. They know its delicate balance. You need a strong spine plus width.

Liverpool and Arsenal need a spine. United need a rearguard. Until then...it'll be the same old story.

I mostly agree, but three points:

Fergie was given 2-3 times longer to bed at Man Utd in than any modern manager will ever get. If Ferg was a young manager now he might never make it.

If Liverpool still had Suarez and Sterling and were winning games, there would be a lot less punditry criticizing Rogers. Much of the problems are of his making, but there have been plenty of times that Man Utd/Chelsea/Man City have won games due to moments of individual brilliance rather than management or strategy, and pundits say things like "the best teams get results/win ugly/get the breaks" etc etc.

I'd rather win nothing with Wenger or Rogers than everything with Mou. He is just too pragmatic; it's going too far down the "winning is everything" road.

Football punditry is largely a joke. Agreed that there's ridiculous pressure on Managers now because of the money factor. Sad, but it is what it is.

Wow! Giroud got a red card! Dope!

And Sir Harry is gonna catch his death from cold if he doesn't cover his head!

Heskey scored for Bolton

Gudjohnsen assisted

You can't hate football.

EDIT: Palace have canned Warnock.

Some fairly drab performances in the Premier League. Despite defending being a problem for most teams, not a lot of goals today either: 7 goals in 8 games so far...
