I'm not. I honestly couldn't care less. It just happened to be the game of the day last week and i watched it.

daneoni is the Arsenal supporter on here i think.

oh i see.

but the if, but argument is mute because liverpool are probably the biggest culprits of that this season

A good win for Liverpool, and some encouraging play. Moreno and Manquillo had pretty good matches.

But defensive frailties remain, and Borini/Balotelli/Markovic look like duds. Sterling is not a forward either, I don't like it when Rogers plays him in the most advanced role in a front three. Today he was being absolutely bossed by Fernandez, Swansea's big center back - though with better finishing he could have had at least one, maybe two goals today.

Emre Can looks a good player. Coutinho needs a proper CF to play off of. Sterling is a false 9 who needs 2 or 3 chances. The midfield has more energy/legs without Gerrard. Moreno bombs forward a lot. Yes he'll get a cross in or even score a goal. But against better sides he leaves the back 3 vulnerable.

LFC are at least starting to string performances together and once Sturridge returns or Brendan brings back Origi. They might start scoring more.

Meanwhile Irvine has been canned.

Barca transfer ban appeal rejected

Ah, thanks for the link pachyderm, the first didn't work for me either. Pretty awesome goal, you don't see too many mazy runs like that these days.

As for Pardew, Newcastle fans didn't like him and he was a distraction in that sense - but Newcastle fans also know that the real problem is Ashley.

Meanwhile, at West Brom, the new manager seems likely to be Pulis or Sherwood. They'll be safe if Pulis steps in, but I'm hoping it's Sherwood for the entertainment value.

Can made a few mistakes but also played some very nice passes. Defensively he seems no worse than Sakho or Toure, but is better at playing out from the back. Sad to say but Lucas/Henderson are better off in the middle without Gerrard.

True. But that can be compensated for in a 5-man midfield, and anyway Liverpool have had the same problem for years with Johnson. At least Moreno is young, fast and has the potential to get better. But at it's core Liverpool's defense is still substandard. There isn't s single defender who I would call undroppable - Skrtel is close but even he has had some big shaky patches.

Sturridge is a real worry - too many injuries in too small a space of time. At this point we have to be prepared to get by without him. As for Origi, the jury is out till he gets a run in the red shirt. One hopes he turns out to be a better buy than Markovic/Balotelli/Borini.

EDIT: It's also worth pointing out that Mignolet seems to be on the outs with Rogers. I wouldn't be surprised to see a goalkeeper come in this summer to replace him.

Lots of rumours flying around about Petr Czech, both permanent and loan deal

By now everyone knows that Henderson and Lucas should be starting every match in midfield when available. Rogers is the only person on earth who disagrees - either that or he is unable to muster the courage to do it.

Liverpool were lucky not to lose, though with the score at 2-2 Borini put the winning shot on target - only to be blocked by Markovic. Coutinho then hit the winner again - only to be blocked by Borini. That pretty much sums up Borini and Markovic for me.

Leicester looked quite vulnerable at the back as well and would have conceded at least three but for Liverpool's bungling. But they worked hard and scored a couple good goals in open play.

Even so, Liverpool created enough chances to win the game despite the stupid defending. But we're never going to go anywhere with Borini/Balotelli/Markovic/Lambert. I'd keep the last as a Plan B sub but the rest are pure deadweight at this point.

Oh, and the penalties: I still haven't seen a clear replay of the first (though the defender flailed his arms so I can see why the ref gave it), but the second was definitely a penalty.

EDIT: Frank Lampard staying at Man City is a huge slap in the face for MLS, and while I don't have any sympathy for NYCFC's bandwagon-jumping fans with their over-rich masters at Man City I hope NYCFC supporters give ol' Frank a brutal welcome when he comes to collect his retirement checks. It would be nice to see my boys kick lumps out of him when he comes to Columbus too. I wouldn't want him at my club, he is obviously not committed to it.

Man City got a win today but of the top 5 Southampton had by far the best day out today. Great stuff from Spurs, and given the scoreline Mou will look like a fool when he makes his usual complaints. Not many teams get to spank Jose with five goals.

For those in the US, NBCSN has Breakaway Live now, starting today. It's like NFL RedZone. Sweet!

absolutely loved it!

gerrard to crew..?

Gerrard should have left in July. He longer has the legs to be in CM. All the best to him.

Its looking like Wenger should've exited after the FA Cup victory too.

Both haven't kicked on this season and have instead become more exposed.

Speaking of veterans, 'twas obvious Lampard's deal would be extended. NY is owned by the sheikh's organisation not the fans. City will always come first. There's an EPL trophy at stake.

Part of me has always hoped he'd remain a one-club player with Liverpool, because I can't imagine him pulling on any other shirt. But if it had to be another shirt I'd hope it would be the black and gold of Columbus. ;) Slower players can still carve out a niche in MLS especially with Gerrard's touch/deadball skills. Columbus could use him, though with Federico Higuain already in the lineup that's going to be a very slow midfield...

....I'd definitely make some matches though, for sure. :)

Fixed that for you! ;)

A horrible thought. But Gerrard has publicly stated that he will not be moving to another English club. All sources point towards a move to MLS, probably LA or NY Red Bull. I'd hate to see him play for either club, but then again I'd hate to see him play anywhere apart from Liverpool or Columbus.

Thomas Tuchel (former Mainz05 coach) rumored to get next Newcastle United coach in summer.
(He had a contract with Mainz till summer 2015, but started talking with Leverkusen and Schalke, the latter having been really interested, in mid 2014 towards the end of the season. Mainz said, they won't let him go and he said he won't go to work then. They agreed on keeping the contract till the end, but not paying him and he could stay at home).

MLS commisioner Don Garber has called Man City's handling of the Frank Lampard debacle an "error of judgement."

He also denied that New York City FC is a feeder club for Man City. That's true enough; in order to be a feeder club you have to actually be feeding the parent company young talent, and NYCFC is not and will not be doing that for many years if ever.

Where's Jaffa when you need him? :D

Not a great performance by Liverpool except for Gerrard. Markovic seemed to try and he could actually outrun his opponents, but still didn't get anywhere.

Bayo Akinfenwa is an one huge man. I think he fouled Mignolet for his goal, but he physically bossed Liverpool's defenders.

Mind you, Bayo Akinfenwa could probably outmuscle Liverpool's entire starting XI. Vinnie Jones hasn't got **** on Bayo Akinfenwa.

Sanchez dismantles Stoke. Meanwhile United and Southampton are being boring.

EDIT: S'oton edge it and leapfrog United into 3rd. United's luck starting to run out it seems. Being found out.
