Allegri has come out today and said Vidal is going nowhere so yeah...conflicting reports.
Reus has apparently refused to sign a new deal which means he'll be the top transfer story next summer. I hope he doesn't do the predictable by going to Bayern or Spain.
The post-World Cup transfer deals really show what tremendously poor value English clubs get in the transfer market - they may have access to most of the best players but they pay disgusting amounts of money for them. Spain (outside the top two), Germany and Italy build great teams on far less money in most cases (and those nations also keep producing amazing players).
Many of the players heading to Spain, Italy or Germany are usually older and/or on the last year of their contracts having refused to sign a new deal. Thus paving way for others to swoop in for cheap.
But the EPL lacks decent academies that churn out cheap top talent and is fiercely more competitive, meaning many clubs are effectively rebuilding again and again each window and are going for players locked in 5 yr contracts that require big bucks clauses to negate. Or overpriced and often overrated English players.
English tax is also another culprit since clubs have to shell out more to meet net wages
LvG is going to have a much better squad to work with than poor old Moyes did; arguably a better squad than Ferg did the last couple times he won the league as well.
LvG was complaining about inheriting a
broken squad from Moyes. Problem is the existing United squad was largely assembled by SAF so surely he should shoulder the blame. He also thinks he has too many attacking midfielders.
I'm still not convinced United will get in the required bodies in time. Clocks ticking and many of the players they're linked with are either signing new deals or opting for other clubs. But we shall see.
Meanwhile, Schneiderlin is
not happy. Transfer request incoming me thinks. Also So'ton now a being mocked on Twitter after the Manager's
inadvertent error.. Its gonna be a transition for the Saints and they have the right Manager and funds to do it. Koeman has experience building from scratch and they have about £97m in the bank so far. Could rise to £119m or more soon too. It'll be tricky but its not as terrible as it initially seems.
