Those are what? Maximum recorded speeds whilst playing?

Robben (not on list) supposedly hit 37 km/h in skinning Ramos (#10) at the World Cup.

However it's measured, there's no way that Bale achieves speeds 20% greater than that of the tenth fastest footballer.

It's a very European list – presumably because that's where TV coverage can measure this stuff accurately – but it's also a very Caucasian list...

racist

got something against whitey?

Well, I always see links to German papers rather pointless but
here we go. I don't take that serious but thought it funny to see Rooney (and Ramos - where's Mertesacker btw!?!) within the top ten.

It's a Mexican study about top speed while sprinting with the ball.

Maybe that's why the second spot is held by a Mexican nobody ever heard of ?

 ;) :D  :(

When it comes to a sprint, I know who my money's on.

Of course. Not sure what sprinting with the ball means exactly - I can 'outplay' most of my opponents by kicking the ball 20+ meters in front of me and just run past 'em but I touch the ball...like...twice :D So it's a bit pointless to compare Messi to, say Aubameyang - who is said to be faster than Bolt.

Idc, just thought it was funny to see Rooney (and Ramos) up there. *shrugs*

International duty update:: Colombia 3 Kuwait 1
falcao scored a penalty and breaks colombia's record for all-time top scorer, 24 goals with the national team :)

24 is a surprisingly small number considering how long colombia has been a top squad the last 20-30 years.
is it because of the frequent injuries ?

the average is about 50-ish for top scorer in any country, well except for that alien called Pelé but remember that Colombia kind of vanished after the 1990's for awhile due to the country changing and all but now they came out full force and colombians are all over the best clubs in europe now

stop trying so hard...smh

It seems it's you that's trying hard to convince us Falcao is some legendary striker because he scored 2 goals against a team that wouldn't even make it in the Scottish 1st Division ;)

It's the cold, wet, Wednesday night's in Stoke that count!

USA threw away another lead, this time against Switzerland. Our form is in free fall.

England drew against an unremarkable Italy side, and needed a late goal to do even that.

Falcao is nothing like the player he was for Atleti. Maybe that will change, but so far he's been a disappointment.

Hotshot Athletico striker makes a big move, carries on his scoring form, makes a high profile/money move to a PL club and can't find then net.

Where have you heard THAT story before...?

;)

You just described Antonio Valencia's attacking game pretty succinctly there.

He made millions out of it, right? :(

Anyway, that is a good thing in general, you can't screw up too much that way/make a fool out of yourself with failed trickery. Difference is I can pass n' cross pretty good.* ;) Only it doesn't help THAT much when playing inside/small field.

* see where the video stops.. :D

A bit off topic, but has anyone sat in the upper tier of Wembley before? Just wondering what the view is going to be like. I got my FA Cup semi final ticket today, but because we were waiting until they went on sale to more people so other family could come, the seats for the lower tier had sold out.

I've only been to Wembley twice before (previously sat in lower tiers) for the heart-breaking 2011 playoff final and a turgid England game vs Montenegro. Third time lucky and revenge for Arsenal's 7-5 win in the League Cup a couple of seasons ago, eh...

first off, the other guy started the bickering not me. Second of all, im NOT trying to convince anyone on here neither do i want to, i just post about players and teams that i like, period. sometimes you have hard opponents and sometimes you dont but a goal is a goal, thats the way football is...nice try but no cigar

Indeed. :D

Fast, one-dimensional players are in demand, but always have short careers because once they age a bit they are totally ordinary.

But they still make millions off of that. :D

Anyway, David Alaba, quite a favorite of mine I have to confess, is out for the rest of the season due injury. Badstuber, Robben and Ribery as well - there might be something in it for Dortmund this Saturday...or they just get steamrolled by Götze, Müller or Lewandowski. :D

Well, doubt it, so going to watch this. Nothing really in it for Bayern this season, might as well give Dortmund 3p and be done with it..

A huge blow for the austrian national squad since he is very likely not 100% fit for the important qualifier game vs. Russia in june.
He is the center of our midfield and notorious for scoring a desperatly needed winning/equalizer goal in the last 5 minutes. We are close to qualifing for the european championship for the first time mostly because of him. (and zlatko junuzovic who finally got in to the same rythm he was prior to his change to Bremen)

Oh, ya, forgot about Austria. Awesome player - if he keeps going like that he's going to be make a real mark. He plays CM for Austria? I know he does that at Bayern sometimes (due Lahm and Thiago being injured) ok-ish but is probably the best left-back and absolutely amazing at playing the left role within a 3-4-4.

He plays way more offensive in the national squad in the center than when playing for bayern in the center. He isn't playing it as a holding midfielder but more as a true box-box player.
At Bayern with so much offensive players up front and many opponents sitting deep he has to be more defensive.

In the games last year he literally was found everywhere on the pitch. In the 37 games for our national squad (most in the center, but also a few on the left) he scored 9 goals.

The current austrian midfield is perhaps the best since years. Our best setup in the center with Alaba,Baumgartlinger(Mainz),Junuzovic(Bremen) has an enormous work rate and stamina. Alaba und Juno are fantastic free kickers as well.
And we also have some offensive power with players like Harnik,Janko, Arnautovic and from the bench young guns like Weimann (aston villa) or Sabitzer(RB Salzburg).

Our big weakness currently is our keeper and the lack of backups for our fullbacks/ Janko in the central attack role.

I'm quite sure that sooner or later the international players currently still playing in the austrian league will make the jump to the german Bundesliga. My guess: either Sabitzer or Hinteregger arriving this summer.

Speaking about Austrians: second division 'real-life' iToys RedBull Leipzig, currently placed in the upper midfield, just bought U21 striker David Selke from Werder Bremen for roundabout 8m - and thinking about other first division players too.

That's actually quite an amount of money over here, in the PL probably not so much. But jeez, I can see somebody making a fortune on sth. like a drink with good advertisments and whatnot - but this Mateschitz guy is too much for me. Are we actually sure he isn't selling a batch of heroin alongside every batch of EnergyDrinks??

You seem strangely invested in this "fight", because you are clearly making this a fight. A very one-sided fight, I might hasten to add.

Lighten up.
