Seems like a waste to me. Only clubs in Serie A worth joining are Juve and Roma. Anything else seems like a downgrade. Thought he'd move to the EPL but guess not.

Good on Milan though, its a massive signing.

i think you hurt Napoli's & Chievo Verona's feelings... :(;)

Women-Cup:
Germany vs Thailand, halftime 1:0 and GER's coach is looking very pissed off (in the Am. Engl. sense of the word ;) ).
Started good and then looked as they were falling asleep or better say doing it half-hearted and underestimating.

As comically tight as ever. But beyond that it actually looks decent.

I just turned in the game 5 minutes ago and have to wonder how Thailand made it through the 1st half with only conceding once
GER just scored twice within 2 mins and is dominating them at will

End result Germany vs Thalaind 4:0

For some reason Germany placed their shots very unprecisely or directly shot into the arms of the goalkeeper in the first half.
E.g. Maroszan is a real good player, with a very, very good technique (showed less of it in the cup, though) and one wonders why she shoots the ball 50cm over the grass instead of just chipping it Pirlo style over the head or tipping it left to the goalkeeper. She was taken from the pitch in the 2nd half.
There were one or two scenes, in the 2nd half were I wasn't sure, if the defense just didn't bother or if it were mistakes (passing close to the attacker). If you saw the second half you probably have seen/remember these situations.

(Edit:
in all 3 matches together GER had 92 chances and made 15 goals. Maybe that is the reason... )

There were also 7 new players on the pitch, but that can't be the reason, because Germany has a deep squad this cup (even with the young(st)ers that were nominated for the injured that stayed home, some of them had already played the Euro-13 and the Algarve-Cup, though not in this combination).

Side note: Btw. I now understood why Bayern is getting all the Freiburg players (Freiburg was no 7 in the women's league), now that all present and former Freiburg players were on the pitch I saw the connection. They make up a line of 4 players from the 6 position up to wing and the front of the box. I guess it was cheaper getting them now as they're young, than taking such a line out of the top teams (if they would have let them go anyway). I don't know what Bayerns amount of money is they can spend on the women's team and what they are willing to invest, but it seems that they come to see that you can make money with women's football or did they finally decide theyjust want to be the best in both divisions. The spanish striker they bought costed 19.900/month when she went to Sweden, I doubt that the price for her has fallen, when they bought her from Frankfurt. An average player in the Swedish and German womens league gets 3000,-EUR per month.

Also interesting Norway went 3:1 against Ivory Coast (GER had beaten Ivory coast 10:0, given that Norway-GER ended 1:1, this makes one wonder, on the other hand, NOR doesn't have as good techniques as GER and they come over robustness (in my view) - I don't find their playing looks really good, though their results speak in their favour.

Canada ladies play later today, I hope my neighbors do well.
Am very interested in seeing this, since the Netherlands have advanced quality-wise in the last 4 years and having them play against one of the regular participants of big cups, could be nice to watch.
(EDIT: hm,... mediocre game, Netherlands not convincing. Atm China - New Zealand has the ball rolling more.
EDIT-2: well, became good match at the end and NED got better. - China-NewZealand, poor New Zealand are out of the cup because of a wrong decision by the referee, hand-penalty. 2:2)

Speaking of newcomers and regulars. It is possible that Switzerland meets GER in the 1/8. Would be a pity, if they had to go early (well Germany, too, of course ;) ). In the last friendly Germany played 3:1 (1:0) if I remember correctly. In the second half Germany was building a triangle fo three players standing very close to each other and always taking the attacking swiss player in the middle, up to the next attacker and so on while rotating and moving the triangle over the whole pitch. I have seen nothing like this (I mean a series of triangle passing) by Germany in the cup so far.

Men: Bayern buys Stuttgart's keeper Sven Ulreich. He will be nominated no 2 after Neuer.
The commentary of "Die Zeit" was "Retirement with 26 - Sven Ulreich goes to Bayern, to sit on the bench."

WC-2015: Mexico's coach in his active times :D I love it. :)

EPL and Football League fixtures announced this morning.

Bournemouth had better hope that they're safe in April, last seven games includes teams such as Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool and Everton...

@Jaffa Cake: 15 December & 19 April (...please don't be the team which relegates us!)

already some drama at the Copa america: Vidal, Chile & Juventus star player crashed his ferrari after a night of drinking at the casino and his coach will still let him play...

Here is my last spam from the women's group phase ;)

We will maybe see France and Spain (perhaps England, too but less so) the last time this evening. While Spain was not one of the favourites, though entertaining, France going home would be crazy. I bet they would do much better in the k.o.-phase, if they get through the group this evening. Very strange they lost against Colombia and only played 1:0 against England, because they won the friendlies against USA, Germany, Sweden and some others. (Maybe CL backlash? Well, half of the German team had to play the full CL, too... - both countries didn't have an exceptionally strong group to beat, despite Norway perhaps. France really should have shone in their group.)

OK, missed the kick-off times...
2nd half starting
France-Mexico 4:0
England-Colombia 2:0 (british fans on twitter exploding out of excitement :) ).

****Breaking**** Colombia beat brazil 1-0 there was even a fight after the game with Bacca and Neymar...what a game. the goal was from Murillo (new player) Colombia played very good and electric, brazil was asleep the first half but then woke up in the second half. there were alot of goal chances from both sides. neymar was acting like alittle baby during the second half.

The Brazil Colombia game got hot at the end. Neymar was already going to miss the next game vs Venezuela because of yellow cards but to end the match with a red card? I am actually surprised more people didn't get yellow cards

1/8th final womens cup

Some surprises:

Sweden was lucky, that Spain made a draw against Costa Rica, otherwise Sweden would have gone home with 3 draws and a goal difference of 0. I am a bit sorry for Spain, that they have to go home now. I also think there was more in it for Nigeria.

- Canada vs Switzerland = not to be mean, but I think this is a doable task for newcomer Switzerland, if they have a good day. Bad for the host, of course.
- Colombia vs USA = poor Colombia to get USA. But maybe we get surprised, if they play fast and one of their passes reach a deadly small player, that can shift through the tall US-girls. Though still with some mistakes, I found Colombia fun to watch as a dark horse in women's football.

***Update*** neymar will be suspended for 4 games. meaning he is out of the Copa america due to his childish fighting when he played against Colombia, im happy now.

That was a stupid unnecessary foul but 4 games really!? That's a little excessive

Edit: and maybe I'm biased as I am Brazilian fan. But how is it that Vidal from Chile is still able to suit up even tho he just had a car accident and put people's live in jeopardy ?

less than 2 hours to go for
Germany vs Sweden
(would have been a match worth a finale in earlier years, but given the recent problems of Sweden not keeping up with modern football (- even considering that they were in the "group of death" -) could be different. I expect a fast match, though anyway, despite what can be said. Germany on the other hand has to once more make sure they include the newer players and USE their chances. May be a debacle for Germany, if their defense fails in quick swedish counter attacks.)

One incident happened on the pitch (Neymar) and the other outside of it (Vidal). FIFA aren't the police so not much they can do.

If you're involved in any sort of physical aggression on the pitch...you're just asking for trouble.
Straight red = 3 matches. Neymar was involved in two separate incidents which probably earned him an extra match

For those of you who think that neymar's punishment is too much. here is what happened:
Neymar first kicked the ball to hit Armero in the back when Armero heard the final whistle and started to celebrate the win. then Murillo went up to neymar to confront him but he did it in a nice way by hugging him and he started to lay his head on neymars head, in which, neymar head butt him so when Bacca saw that he defended Murillo and pushed neymar very hard and thats when all hell broke lose.

here is the full video of the incident.

GER 4:1 SWE (!) - sorry for Pia Sundhage, Sweden's (and former US) coach, probably her career end.
SWE's goal came from a free kick. GER 2nd goal was by a penalty. The fouled GER player later said she actually didn't want to have the penalty, because she wanted win the game on the field. (But she willingly accepted to fall as it looked).

China 1:0 Cameroons - Cameroons really fought, but their star was to selfish with finishing and China kept cool

and the biggest news BRAZIL OUT OF THE CUP, by a 1:0 in 80th min. by Australia. (Funny that GER's coach had predicted that).

This is after Brazil's men went out of the U20-cup against Serbia. Hm, bad times for BRazil.

France vs South Korea is on, will tell who will play the 1/4 final against Germany. This (evening's) should be a match on a high level.

Oh, well, while I am typing: France 2:0 (nice technique).
Incredible after their problematic group phase matches.
