Not good from the USA. To be fair, Panama are not a bad side. But USA should be able to beat them. If Panama is such a stiff challenge, what will happen against Mexico and/or Costa Rica?

Mexico 4-4 Trinidad & Tobago

Mexico looking shaky tonight - they let a 2-0 lead slip into a 2-3 deficit before going up 4-3 thanks in part to a T&T own goal. T&T equalize at the death!

El Tri showing that they can score goals - and leak them.

Columbus beat Chicago 1-0 tonight, in Chicago. :)

EDIT: With that result Mexico fail to win their group and must now face Costa Rica in their next match. USA won their group and will now face Cuba in the quarterfinals, so winning the group DOES make a difference...

I'm surprised that both Costa Rica and Mexico, the top-ranked teams in the tournament, failed to win their groups.

Mexico fans (at least those I've run into in the US) are usually enthusiastic but well behaved - better than many USA fans. Shame that these people resorted to throwing missiles...in the end it just made them look like sore losers.

James Milner and Christian Benteke. What an impressive transfer policy from Liverpool. That totally screams 5th-7th place for the foreseeable future. And so much money spent! Unless Firmino turns out to be the next Torres or Suarez I don't see how Liverpool competes for anything next season.

Benteke is a fine player, but for £32 million? Ouch.

Not sure what United will do about another striker. I'm fine with playing Rooney up top with Mata behind him, but Chicharito and James Wilson aren't exactly deep cover for the position. There has been some talk of converting Januzaj to a #9, which could be an intriguing move.

Teofilo Gutierrez will be transferring to Sporting Club Portugal from River plate...its official, all the all stars from Colombia are in Europe right now.

The market has gone mad. It seemed not that that long ago that £30 million bought you a world-class striker. Now it buys you Benteke. He has a good career strike rate. IF he can maintain that through a full season at Liverpool he becomes more palatable.

But Liverpool have spend a huge amount of money on players of the second or third rank in terms of quality. Unless they add up to something greater than the sum of their parts, it's a case of making a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Cuba did well to make it to the quarterfinals; USA never reached their best level but still handily outclassed the Cubans - who nevertheless fought gamely despite the gulf in quality and having a depleted squad due to injuries - and defections (how often do you get to say THAT anymore??).

Jamaica currently lead Haiti 1-0 in their quarterfinal match - whoever wins will be USA's next opponent.

Dempsey did well getting his 3 goals, nice to see.

Dempsey should easily pass Donovan in goals scored, I would think. I doubt anyone will ever surpass Cobi Jones' cap record - though the USWNT already have blown that away, they have something like three players over 200 caps and one over 300.

It's weird seeing Gerrard in a different shirt - never thought I would, to be honest.

Watched the end of the Gold Cup game at Gilette Stadium. Watched New England take on NYCFC (sans Lampard or Pirlo unfortunately, had hoped eithe rod them would debut in our back yard.)

Villa was fun to watch live!

Glad my local team broke their losing streak.

It was strange seeing Gerrard in another uniform for sure! The fans there will like him.

What a sad way for CRCvMEX to end. Poor calls from the ref. Peralta should have been sent off for the challenge be no stoppage time was announced.

Walter Lopez had better not visit Costa Rica any time soon.

It was a dirty match, nether team did enough to win - and Mexico got through on sheer luck, a touch of cheating and a ref who bought the BS.

Poor form, El Tri. Poor Form.

Gold Cup 2015
Ever since coach Pinto left, Costa rica has gone down hill. I lost respect for costa rica when Pinto left the team. plus it was for a dumb reason too. costa rica didnt let him choose his own backstaff. With decisions like these, shows that costa rica doesnt have the drive to win. it was a backstab after all he did with that team at the world cup. by the way, Pinto is Colombian.

That doesn't change the fact that Mexico won by cheating. The replays show a blatant dive. It was a dirty game on both sides, to be fair, but the officials duffed it in the end with that penalty call.
