How was Falcao in the Copa? Where was he v Argentina?
Ticker tape honors for USWNT, very cool! I'd love to actually see one of those in person, and imagine what it was like after the moon landings. Niel Armstrong and all that.
Anyway, USA beats Honduras with a reasonably effective if not dazzling display. Defending was not the best, and Klinsmann has been shuffling the lineup quite a bit lately. They are playing well enough to win the group, but will need to play better than this if they want to win the tournament.
i think we will breeze out group and win the tourney. maybe not with ease but we will win the tourney.

Our defending has me particularly worried. Ever since Bocanegra/Cherundolo departed there has been a lack of consistency in selections and performance. Those guys weren't world class but they were good and knew their business. The newer guys are lacking game time together and the roster has been shuffled somewhat often.
Is Brooks on board? Does he play?
Individually, the back four starters Brooks/Alvarado/Chandler and Johnson are ok. It's working as a unit that escapes them a bit.
The goal they conceded Tuesday is a good example where Alvarado don't close the gap quickly enough.

Thanks. But Klinsi plays Brooks as a left-back?
I would say we are the best team in the tournament. BUT I would also say that - given that this is a knockout tournament - we are not so much better than Mexico and Costa Rica that we can be at all sure that we will beat them. When it comes down to one game small mistakes or tactical failures are all it takes to get knocked out.

Watching Trinidad and Tobago vs Guatemala, T and T has jumped out to 2-0 lead in first 17 minutes!
yep, they both are horrid but GUA is just a little worse.
yer not wrong.
but i think we will be ok.

Exactly. And, on top of that, I fully expect Mexico and Costa Rica to rise to the occasion against USA, if we end up playing them. Sometimes USA has a habit of playing down to the opposition's level - though, again, we usually step it up against Mexico.
USA should win this tournament - but that is exactly what makes me nervous.
We won! But, we were lucky!
