I don't particularly like West Ham, or Bilic, but I can't say I hate them either. I don't even hate Man Utd or the Chicago Fire.

I do find London clubs a bit odd though. Not sure why. They are a world unto themselves compared with the the rest of the country.

You could say that about a lot of people from East London, so doesn't mean they weren't Hammers fans :)

Just noticed this...I know you were only being half-serious, but I wasn't referring to the "English" in the ethnic sense, but rather to people local to London or even the UK, or UK expats. Some of the idiots causing trouble were obviously Americans who had probably only ever seen West Ham on TV.

EDIT: Martinez about to be sacked...he needs to find a club with a self-righteous attack-focused/excitement-first culture such that he won't be punished for bad defending and he can focus on the attacking side of things. A culture like that of Real Madrid, but on a lower level. Eredivisie? LA Galaxy? Seattle?

Maybe he can take the Newcastle job if/when Rafa does one.

You know that 4-4 draw Columbus had that I complained about few days back? During the match Kei Kamara and Federico Higiain had a spat over who was to take a PK - Kamara was on a hat trick, but Higuain usually takes them. Higuain scored it, but Kei was not happy...

...in the aftermath of the game Kei made statements to the press that indicated all was not well with his attitude. The manager had a word, Kei refused to apologize, and now we've shipped him off to the New England Revolution for a bunch of allocation money, a couple draft picks and cap space. New England claim that negotiations were ongoing before the PK incident, but the timing is unfortunate either way.

In theory we now have a lot of resources to get a new striker, but we've just gotten rid of one of the league's most consistent and highly-rated goal scorers, and Columbus aren't the kind of flashy club that can afford or attract a David Villa or Obefami Martins.

The fans are in turmoil, tough I think in the long run we should be OK - but Columbus are going to need to make a big signing this summer to fill Kamara's shoes.

It will definitely be weird to see Kei Kamara in a Revs jersey!

I'm not convinced that our problems are production related. We've given up too many points letting early leads turn into draws or losses.

I'm sure you'll get goals out of him, but I don't know why he developed such an attitude problem in Columbus. Problems with teammates? Maybe Berhalter wasn't happy with the way he was training?

New England gave away a lot for him, but the value of the trade will be judged by a) the success or failure of his replacement in Columbus and b) what he does for the Revs.

Too early to say what the outcome is going to be. One thing's for sure, Columbus will not be happy to play against him ;ager this season, he is a dangerous striker.

That sucks!

I'm seriously thinking about rooting for the Timbers this season or until we get rid of those hideous white kits we have.

Yuck. Those hipsters and their silly log? ;) You could always just be a neutral...and keep rooting against Chicago, DC and Toronto.

Those kits do have to go...I don't even like talking about them.

Congrats to Wednesday! Brighton with some unfortunate injury problems at the worst possible moment, so Wednesday have a huge advantage.

Also, congrats to Jaffa Cake's Hull City, who thrashed Derby 3-0 and are surely on track to win their tie.

Here's hoping whoever gets promoted has a great first season in the Premier League and helps get Sunderland relegated next time around. ;)

So, barring miracles, it'll be The Wednesday vs Hull Tigers Inc in The Richest Game in Global Soccerball™.

I'm assuming that Hull with their parachute payments wouldn't be at a huge disadvantage in the Premier League; do any of our Owls know how deep Chansiri's pockets are?

Suarez gets a hat trick and Barca take the league title in Spain. Suarez also takes the golden boot unless I'm much mistaken, the first time in years it has not been claimed by either Messi or C. Ronaldo.

Real are still in the cup and Champions League.

Suarez scored 40 goals this season. Putting that into perspective, if you add half that number of goals to the tallies of any one of England's top eight league finishers, it probably wins them the title handily.

Hull have had their day in the sun... sorry @Jaffa Cake

Apparently the Man Utd/Bournemouth match has been abandoned following the discovery of a "suspect package" at Old Trafford

News is still very sketchy, let's hope it is a false alarm!

I have been following this story; while - given what happened in Paris - that this is a genuine threat cannot be discounted, and must be treated as such, it is also possible that it is a sadistic hoax.

If so, of course it is the sort of the sort of grotesque ill luck that seems to attend upon Louis van Gaal, an ill starred luck that is not sufficiently awful, or epic, to be called truly tragic, but one for which - while he is completely blameless - in the manner of propitiating nameless gods - he will be deemed accountable, especially as - with the Cup Final approaching, this match will now have to be played in conditions - and at a time - that are less than ideal.

Despite the fact that the league title and relegation battle have already been decided, this is turning out to be a remarkably exciting day...

Spurs have managed to finish their most un-Spurs-like season in the most Spurs-like way possible. Newcastle - of all teams - are absolutely humiliating them with ten men!

Man City are useless.

The latest word from Old Trafford is that some punter found a phone with wires hanging from it strapped to a pipe in a bathroom. The police have destroyed the "device" in a controlled explosion.

Still no word on whether it was a genuine explosive device or not.

From a competitive perspective this abandonment probably doesn't change anything, but it's obviously a shameful affair if a hoax, and a terrifying situation if the "device" was a genuine IOD.
