Define nearly equivalent.

That's like saying an Elantra is nearly equivalent to a s class because both move people and have radios.

If your needs are email and Facebook sure all phones can do that these days.
The One Plus 3T in speed tests is very very close to an iPhone 7 at half the cost. It's got an OLED display and quick charge and comes with the fastest Android processor out of the box. So this is not equivalent?

I don't think calling a OP3T an Elantra is a fair estimate. It has 2 or 3 times as much RAM as the 7/7+ depending on which you go with. Its quick charge function is absurdly good.

Sure that's like saying an turbo mustang is 80% of the performance of a Ferrari at a fraction of the cost. Yet you can't buy a Ferrari as there is a two year waiting list. If you value Apple longevity, support, hardware and ecosystem you get Apple. However I'll bet Apple for twice the price sells 3 times the phones. So nearly equivalent on a spec sheet, but customers voiced their opinions.

Android needs all that ram, run android on 2 gigs and watch it crawl. However nobody is saying the opt3 is a slouch, you buy what you want.

Your point is moot because unlike the Mustang the One Plus 3T has more hardware features than the iPhone . One Plus pushes out updates really quick and has excellent support. Sales is a deflection . We are strictly comparing hardware here. Seems like a way to justify the iPhone having lesser features whilst having to pay more than 1000 to get the same features

Stock Android runs just fine on 2GB RAM. Note by fine I say it will run just like how iOS runs on an iPhone 6

The iPhone 7+ has more hardware features including most accurate display, dual lens, custom soc, 3dt etc.

On one hand this is hardware, until you take the car for a drive and you realize why the cars costs what they do. It looks good on a spec sheet. Sales is the driving force that keeps the companies going.

And "running fine" is a matter of opinion as evidenced by the large number of threads devoted to this.

Nobody would buy an "iPhone 8" without software or support from Apple, just like buying a new car without a warranty. So the tired looking at a spec sheet argument doesn't apply here.

Tim Cook has lost his mind. The iPhone is already one of the most expensive devices out there!

Sorry, who's lost their mind? I'm pretty sure it's not a legal requirement to buy an extremely overpriced iPhone, but people do... (and they're utterly insane, it's just A PHONE {nitpick incoming - yeah I am aware of what else smartphones do, thanks, so save your typing, folks} for goodness sake.)

I could just about justify £400, possibly £500 (if I was drunk and if Apple store staff put their hand in my pocket and robbed me, and handed me the iPhone in return)... no more, but if others are INSANE enough to pay, who's got any right to blame Apple? One born every minute; a fool and his money are soon parted. I could justify £500-600 for an iPad Pro for Pixelmator etc (a justifiable purchase to get paid work done on), and easily "manage":rolleyes: with my 5S & Moto G3 which I use daily, without ANY lack of sleep in thinking I am "missing out".... don't make me laugh with your habitual "upgrade" addiction nonsense - my friend tried to convince me to get an iPhone 6, yesterday... but WHY? I do not want OR need one, I love my 5s - I am as much an admirer and in awe of Apple as many others, but I ain't no schmuck.

You know what's going on here - Daddy buys you a box of chocolates, you eat them all and want more... then MORE... then you get accustomed to that sized box and want EVEN MORE next time. No one needs these "upgrades" - you're all being hung upside down and given the shakedown, LOL!
[doublepost=1489120842][/doublepost]PS: Apple sell feature sets, not chipsets - may as well not discuss what specs it has, no one with any sense pays much attention to that nonsense.
