Hmm I don't think you understood my post actually Olly, I stated the UK price of the current iPhone 7 INCLUDING US Tax based on the New York Zip Code, the iPhone is cheaper in America with tax.
Local tax rates are not set by Apple. You need to compare the tax free prices to see if Apple are ripping us off.

DxO review.

But we don't really need a review. Image sensor size is determinant of IQ. You can't make up for a small light collection surface with image processing, not in low light conditions.
iPhone 7: 1/3" sensor, f/1.8 (1/3.6" sensor for zoom lens)
Samsung Galaxy S7: 1/2.5" sensor, f/1.7

I think the Google Pixel's sensor may even be larger than the Galaxy S7's.

Part of the problem is Apple's obsession with Thin. It limits the camera module choices. Personally I'd prefer a thicker phone with a larger battery and better camera.

hmm.
hardly anybody uses os x (relatively speaking)..
a crap ton of people use iOS.

or, i think way more people will argue iOS > Android than macOS > Windows.

Right, but those iOS users are much more likely to jump ship than OS X users (IMO). Apple knew they could count on the latter forking over their dough no matter what they did with their Mac lines. I don't believe the same is true with iOS. A few too many missteps and the iPhone can and likely will see a lot of users migrate to the Pixel or Galaxy or whatever.

Actually, if these are the specs for the different phones cameras then this is the type of source information I wanted to see. Thanks.

That gonna be a lot of fun here in Germany. If its really true then iPhone 8 will cost here at least 1.100-1.200 Euro incl. taxes. I have no idea why should we buy in 2017 this kind of device cuz you can already get so many phones withe more power and better specs for around 500 or if you like some chinese phones there are many high-end phones for around 400. I understand if someone is paying more for a Macbook Pro cuz many ppl use those computers for 5-7 years but too many ppl buy actually almost every year a new phone it makes no sense to spend this money for a device and replace it so soon.
I got 2 weeks ago a Galaxy S7 (my first Samsung smartphone) and this beast cost me 1 Euro incl. 2-y-contract for 20 Euro/month with AllnetFlat (all calls and sms are completely free in Germany) and I got 1GB, will be ok for now but I will upgrade it later to 3 or 4GB for 10-15 Euro more, but my phone will cost me less than the whole f* iPhone plan here. Its so ridiculous how expensive all iPhone's (even with the plan) are.

heh, it still costs more than that to use the thing..

if i have an iphone 8 for two years:

$1000
+ 2500
----------
$3500

..and i'm on a cheaper plan than many of the people i know..

idk, i'll pay 1000 for the phone.. and i'll continue paying the $100 or so per month to use it..
not gladly but i'll do it anyway..
oh well.

Have you considered switching to a prepaid plan? There's no reason to pay $100+ for a cellphone plan in this day and age, barring exceptional circumstances.

Yes a review is needed, because the sensor is the middleman in the process and stuff has to happen to the finished product.

Doesn't this depend on what the definition of a misstep to the ultimate customer? You can't go by what is said here. "Doom and gloom" for the iphone 7, yet wasn't really the case.

I used it as an example, and it shows I pay far more then people in New York do. Tax is tax, in America its different everywhere, you can't compare prices with no tax as it's utterly pointless as every private purchase has to pay it, usually.

Apple sets the tax-free price price, the tax is set by the local government. You can't blame Apple for our high VAT rate.

100 bucks a month for a plan, wowzers , in the UK you can get a plan with unlimited texts and minutes and 2 gig of data, which is fine for the majority for under 10 pounds sterling.

Pixel vs Iphone 7. I've had both. The battery on the pixel is much, much better. The screen resolution and pop is much better. The camera is equal or better. It has a headphone jack. It is as smooth as the Iphone 7 and as fast. It has an OLED screen. It is 5 inches vs 4.7. The Iphone 7 has a better speaker, but not by much. The value in the Iphone 7 is just not there and I have a bunch of Apple products and I've had Iphones from the Iphone 5. They need to step up their game.

Understand it's your opinion, but the recent quarter suggests the iPhone 7 was a great seller. You can attribute that to whatever, however today I'm going to the Apple store to pick one up for myself.

Personally I find the Pixel to be one ugly device. I find the iPhone blows it away in the looks department and the iPhone looks dated to begin with. The design masterpiece of a phone was the Note 7 followed by the S7 Edge

Just because it sells well doesn't mean it's good. Fifty shades of grey was a top seller but one of the most gross and crappy novels ever. Same goes with Justin Bieber

Well that's your opinion, my opinion is it's a great phone, and the sales reflect that. And the record breaking quarter reflects that, and that the stock is up reflects that. And you don't have to like the novel or the singer, others have a different opinion.

It's not much of an upgrade over the 6s. Apple customers buy anything Apple makes. They could just spec bump the phone and it would still sell

Just curious , why are you getting the 7 now when the revolutionary iPhone design is just a couple of months away

It's enough of an upgrade for me.

When the next iphone comes out, if I like it, I'll buy that and give this to a family member.

It's only got dual cameras and waterproofing and no antenna bands.I fail to see how this qualifies as an meaningful upgrade for the 6s from any viewpoint
