Ole is doing a good job and a certain ex-manager must be wondering if he may have been actually to blame!
I doubt it! He’s probably blaming the players for not performing for him! I’d be surprised if he blames himself for anything.
[doublepost=1547922768][/doublepost]Arsenal are doing well against Chelsea in the race for a CL spot. 2-0 up at halftime.

Arsenal are leading Chelsea by two goals to nil, but unfortunately, Bellerin is down, - there was no contact - and it looks ominous.

Another blow for that brittle (and injury prone) defence.

No official announcement on Bellerin's injury yet, but if you watch videos of the incident you can see what appears to be his quadriceps tendon letting go. Horrible. He's certainly gone for the season, possibly gone till well into next fall.

Meanwhile, Man City are getting their regulation win against Huddersfield.

Yes, the poor chap; horribly distressing and upsetting for him, and I would be surprised if he is able to return before next season.

Talking of injuries, Dele Alli’s injury couldn’t come at a worse time for Spurs. With no Kane or Son, the cup games and league commitments are going to stack up.

Still they managed to get past Fulham despite going behind.

They were lucky to get past Fulham, and Fulham unfortunate not to claim a point from the match.

Agree that Deel Alli's injury could hardly have come at a worse time for Spurs; for all of the undoubted talent of their squad, they lack strength in depth.

Withut Kane and Son, Spurs were probably going to be toast. Now that Alli is out, it's a certainty. There is no way they can keep up with the rest of the top six now.

Agreed. But in better news looks like Arnie might be staying!

Surprised, he seemed like a player given to a good sulk. But it's good news for West Ham - assuming the player can clear his head and get back to business.

Thats a big if! I wonder if he had any intension of going to China at all? Maybe just testing the resolve of W H to keep him and either as @Scepticalscribe suggests trying to get a better contract or tying to show he's available for a top club.

Agree Spurs will struggle. Since they bought nobody in last summer, I do wonder if they should be bringing someone in now. But I think they spent all their money on a stadium.

Well, as we saw with Arsenal and the Emirates, it can take a club years to settle down in a new stadium, and (increased revenue from the new stadium notwithstanding), years to recover their balance and be able to afford the sort of players that the new stadium may demand, or to be able to blend or gel a team out of what they have.

Unless the taxpayer pays for it! ;)

As was the case with West Ham, yes, indeed.

But, between absences, injuries, the dislocation of the fact the New Stadium (even though it is still in "White Hart Lane", just the Mark II enlarged version), straitened finances, it will still take time for Spurs to settle.
Especially as they may well lose their manager this year.

Felt a bit sorry for Fulham. They should have had a penalty early on.

I just finished watching Sunderland 'till I Die and I can't recommend it enough. The way the season implodes could not have been done better if it was scripted, and the film captures all the features of modern football (both good and bad) really well.

It also reinforces the reality that players, managers, executives and owners come and go, but the fans remain - and they are the ones left to pick up the pieces when things go south.

Mislintat to leave Arsenal. The people upstairs in that club really dont know what they're doing. I think there will be dark days ahead for them all because of Kroenke who is infamous for only taking and never giving a single penny. Most likely the reason why Gazidis and Usmanov gave up.

It's a loss to be sure - Mislintat is rumored to be going to Bayern. Emery seems a solid choice, but without talented people like Mislintat working behind the scenes his job will only get more difficult.

Yes, I had read about this last week, (and posted about it at the time).

A blow, - a serious blow and considerable loss - most certainly, not least as - along with Gazidis - he had recruited Emery, who must regret the loss of support he represents as well as the specific skills he has been able to bring to Arsenal.

I think the biggest challenge is that Arsenal (like Spurs) will not be able to compete financially with Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool, and probably even Chelsea for the foreseeable future. Whether Korenke has the money or not is irrelevant - it's clear he will not spend.

This means that they will need to find value in the transfer market and buy shrewdly to stay in the top four. On the few occasions they spend big(ish), they can't afford flops (like Liverpool buying Andy Carol, Man City's various discarded defenders, Morata at Chelsea, and half the players Man Utd have bought since Ferg left). They also need to stop the practice of letting players with value to run their contracts down and leave on a free. Even if they are sold at a loss, some money is better than none.

They will also need to dig up cheap young talent from various nooks and crannies on a regular basis.

Cheap young defensive talent (though I have long thought that they should have tried for Virgil van Dijk), agreed; in his early days, Wenger had an unequalled knowledge of (and access to) French lower divisions - scouting networks could probably be developed.

And yes, stop players running their contracts down. Personally, I would have preferred to have seen Ozil permitted to depart (or sold) and Ramsay offered an extension on his contract.

It is, of course, an most ominous sign that Mislintat is leaving.

However, while we know that Spurs are somewhat strapped, with Abramovich unable to meet UK residency requirements, I think the money tap at Chelsea will flow less strongly than it has done up to recently.
