He'll hit some buffer before then; remember, already this season, both Chelsea and Arsenal went long periods under new management without defeat.
Yes but I think United have a better squad than both.

In other news Arnie has signed an improved contract extension until 2023. Can’t help feeling that was the plan all along.

Spurs are being very Spursy against a strong Palace side...gave up a PK, won their own and then missed it, no threat going forward without Kane and Son....Levy's unwillingness to spend has surely cost them a CL spot this season and any chance of a cup win.

Well our season is officially done. Not enough consistency to get into a Europa spot, too many points to get drawn into the relegation fight, out of both cups.

I watched the match - the small venue made it interesting. Wimbledon really came flying out of the start and West Ham were just not ready. Some big mistakes in defense. I don't think I've ever seen a management team as dejected-looking as Pellegrini & Co during the match. Heads in hands. Anderson's goal was pretty nice though. They need Arnautovic back and in form immediately.

Also, I see that Andy Carroll still falls down too much - that used to infuriate me when he played for Liverpool. Always falling down - not diving, but just going to ground too much and taking himself out of play. Compare that with, say, Zaha, who constantly outmuscles opponents.

Agreed. I hope Carroll only gets a pay as you play deal.

Spurs were utterly toothless. They created enough chances but they have nobody to finish them. Can't even score penalties.

Palace were quite good, should have scored at least 3, but Spurs made it too easy for them.

Comfortable-looking win for Chelsea. Wednesday wilted as the game went on, but when they were at their best they made a game of it. Chelsea looked pretty labored for certain stretches, but in the end they had the quality they needed. The scoreline flattered them though.

Howard was underwhelming at United, but very good for Everton and excellent for USMNT.

Oooof! United draw Chelsea away in the next FA Cup round. United will be severely tested during that stretch with consecutive matches against PSG, Liverpool, and Chelsea. Ole needs to work his magic on Fred to provide some necessary midfield depth.

Timmy Howard was a very good keeper, not quite world class but at his best he wasn't far off.

I think Chelsea will be doormats for Man Utd. They are not impressive right now. PSG are without Neymar and that's 50% of their fear factor gone - and it's at OT. Another United win.

The match against Liverpool is also at OT, so it will be a tough one. If Liverpool really are title contenders, this is a match where they can lay down another marker - but this will not be as easy as the match at Anfield. I do not think Liverpool will win.

Good to see Arnautovic back in the team.

Wolves will provide a tough challenge for us tonight. Hopefully we can leapfrog them in the table and bounce back from the cup.

Some interesting results tonight. Newcastle’s well earned victory against City has virtually handed Liverpool the PL.
Fulham came from 2 goals down for a good victory against Brighton.
Ole’s side managed a late couple of goals to salvage a draw.

And I’ll just say no comment about my lot!

Welp, there was the challenge and the fightback we were waiting for from Ole's squad. Until today, they hadn't trailed for a single minute under his watch. Probably shouldn't have even been necessary if they had finished their earlier chances, but Burnley defended very well and made United pay for their mistakes.

Rousing comeback, but still — two points dropped and lessons to be learned.

Oops.

Never even noticed that matches were played tonight. Was too focussed on er, events, elsewhere.

Very sorry for Cardiff, or, rather, would have preferred (for reasons of decency) not to have had to face them tonight.

I don't think the Newcastle win hands Liverpool the title, but it may serve to erase Liverpool's loss at Mn City if Liverpool win tomorrow (by no means certain).

As for the other matches, big win for Fulham, and a big win for Arsenal - it's an emotional time for Cardiff but the Gunners need points very badly right now. There is a big gap between Man Utd in 6th and Wolves in 7th, but Wolves are looking solid. European football is looking very likely for them. next season.

I haven't heard about the extent of Arnautovic's injury - hopefully it is not serious.

I have everything crossed it’s not serious, but knowing our luck with injuries.....

Somewhat similar to our luck with injuries.

It is sadly ironic that this has to happen after he had decided to remain with West Ham.

Having said that, I always thought the idea of Arnautovic seeking release from his West Ham contract to play in China "to win trophies" utterly risible and completely ridiculous. You go to China to make bucket loads of money; if it is trophies you want, you stay at home, or seek a transfer to another European country's league.

Even though am sorry for Cardiff - that was a tragedy - I am pleased to see some points gathered for Arsenal.

United probably does have a deeper squad than Arsenal, Chelsea or Spurs. They have an abundance of top attacking talent and two world class goalkeepers. (Never thought I'd say that about Sergio Romero, but he's been outstanding in his time at United.)

I was right to be concerned about United's midfield depth. If Matic, Herrera and Pogba don't start, it gets dicey. Andreas Pereira does not look the part so far, though he's been horribly miscast as a holding midfielder for a while. Fred looks to have all the necessary attributes to play between a holding midfielder and the more attacking Pogba, but hasn't shown much yet. Don't compare McTominay to Darren Fletcher — he's not that and will never be that. Fellaini doesn't help in the weaker areas of this unit, so I'd be pleased to see him sold off to China for whatever they can recoup.

And the defense, except for Lindelof and maybe Shaw and Dalot... Ugh. Big changes needed in that unit over the summer.

[EDIT] Very, very interesting slate of results today. Bournemouth is back in business — they comprehensively thrashed Chelsea 4-0. Leicester held Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at Anfield, so the death of the title race is still a bit exaggerated yet. Spurs required a second half fightback to beat Watford, with Llorente providing the spark.

What a shame City lost this week. With yesterday’s result it would have been really exciting in the title race. Sadly we have Liverpool next, and if not be surprised if we concede heavily like the first game of the season.
Chelsea was a bit of a shock. The race for the CL spot is close. The race for the Europa spot is also tight!

Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal don't have the squad strength in depth of some of the other teams, but at least it is a genuine contest for fourth spot.

Not sorry that City lost this week; Pep will have to win the Premiership the hard way, and means that this is a test of just how good he and his team actually are.

Sooner or later, the pieces were going to fall into place for Klopp; I hope he can maintain his momentum for the remainder of the season.

Personally, I'd love to see Liverpool win this year.

I’d prefer City as I have said before.
My friend who I’m seeing tonight is an Arsenal fan, so I’m sure he’ll be happy!
