Pulisic scores again. Excellent news for USA fans. I feared he'd be a benchwarmer at Chelsea, but he's getting both minutes and goals.

I meant that mostly in the sense that from a Norwich perspective even a win here is probably irrelevant - only an incredible stroke of luck will save them now. But for the rest of the relegation battlers this is of course HUGE match. I'm sure West Ham fans have suddenly developed a big soft spot for Norwich today!
Indeed!

Chelsea still leading Crystal Palace, but Palace have since clawed a goal back, so it now reads 2-1 to Chelsea.

And Watford have stolen ahead of Norwich, and scored a second goal, and are currently leading by a goal, the score currently at 2-1.

I'd love to see (or have seen) Crystal Palace claim a point - they have fought like lions, and came back strongly twice, but are down by 3-2.

Elsewhere, Watford, a poor enough team, claim all three points against Norwich, an even poorer team.

That's a big win for Watford. More pressure on Villa now, who have a tough run-in.

West Ham have two pretty crucial matches coming up against Watford and then Villa on the final day - though, with luck, that last match won't matter if Villa have already succumbed by then. Watford and West Ham are looking safer for the moment, but if either lose a match or two (or if Bournemouth or Villa can somehow string together a couple wins) they could be right back in big trouble.

Big match for Leicester today, they need a win to help solidify fourth...but Arsenal have been showing some fight lately.

If we beat Watford and Norwich I think that should be enough. But if Villa can pick up a win, the last day will be very nervy for us.

Yes. West Ham still very much control their own fate. The match against Watford will be tough. Norwich less so apart from the knowledge that a lot is riding on the result.

Each team down near the bottom is waiting for one of their competitors to slip up.

Almost like an insane footballing version of musical chairs.

Oooooops.

Red card for Arsenal, (and deserved, unfortunately, although it was not a malicious tackle), against a sub (Nketiah) who had been on the pitch all of two minutes..

However, for now, they are 1-0 ahead against Leicester.

Damn.

The irrepressible Vardy has scored against 10 man Arsenal in the 85th minute, equalising the match at 1-1.

A nail biting finish awaits for the final five, er, instead, make that closer to ten, final, awful not nail-biting, but nail-gnawing minutes.

I think that that game added several white hairs to my already discreetly greying head.

The final result (and probably a fair one), was one where the points were shared, and the game drawn, with a goal scored apiece.

Meanwhile, in the Land of Freedumb, the "MLS is Back" tournament is getting off to an incredibly shaky start. FC Dallas have already had so many positive COVID tests they've withdrawn from the tournament. Columbus has one confirmed positive but other players have surely been exposed. Other teams have also had multiple positive tests, the food is bad, players are complaining about the accommodations and there is evidence that the "bubble" from the outside community is not very secure.

The basic concept of the tournament was sound, but it is failing at the detail level and the decision to hold it in Florida - now a global COVID hotspot - was reckless to say the least. Moronic, in my opinion.

The original plan was for MLS to hold the tournament and then transition to a shortened regular season in teams' own stadiums (possibly with reduced numbers of fans permitted), with tournament group match result counting as league points. As the infection numbers in the US continue to rise and positive test results in the "bubble" mount, that plan is looking not just optimistic, but positively Quixotic.

I am perhaps being pessimistic, but I don't think this is going to work. Both the players' union and the league have the ability to pull the plug on the season, and that is looking quite plausible at the moment. If they can get a handle on infections quickly there is a chance the tournament might be able to be completed, but the numbers are currently moving in the wrong direction.

Vardy kicked Mustafi in the face and could have been sent off, but wasn't.

I have been reading about that - some Arsenal fans are incensed - and do wonder whether some action ought to have been taken; some seemed to suggest that was deliberate (I would prefer to think that it wasn't, that it was a swirling turn that was not fully under control when Vardy connected with Mustafi).

However, it seems that Mustafi's subsequent facial cut wasn't addressed or treated immediately, although it should have been.

MC has their match with New Castle well in hand, 4-0 so far; then I will watch Liverpool/Brighton match.

Yes, when everything clicks well for them, they are a superb team.

Actually, I was so busy cooking - spent several enjoyable hours (for, it is horrible outside) preparing dinner, and I entirely forgot about football (and politics).

Spurs have been pretty bad lately. A Bournemouth win seems unlikely, but if they play their best today, and maybe get a slice of luck...well, stranger things have happened. They desperately need points - from every match.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, Bournemouth don't appear to be pulling up any trees. On the other hand. Spurs haven't exactly taken this game by the scruff of the neck either.
Well without a boat load of goals, they can’t go above us due to GD. However three points behind would be better. I’m sure Spurs will do the business before the final whistle.

Dull, dull, dull match between Spurs and Bournemouth. And it was 113 minutes long. With no goals. Not a good result for either team.

Spurs haven't looked this lame since the Juande Ramos years.

Not great for us, but not terrible. Hopefully

Man Utd can score a few against Villa.

@JamesMike if your lot are losing at half time can you give them a rocket up the backside!
