I think with the injection of creativity and speed from Jack Grealish, this may actually be the key.
He was able to receive and distribute the ball, giving Kane the space to roam and therefore the service.

He did change the game...and I am not that much of a fan (I think it's his hair and the damn socks being down all the time).

Someone posted a photo of Grealish next to one of Keira Knightley circa Bend It Like Beckham — they had the exact same hairstyle.

I saw that - the meme that's doing the rounds at the moment is one of both him and Foden with the caption saying something like "You want to look like your boyhood Hero" or something similar:
Foden is next to a pic of Gazza and Grealish is next to a pic of Knightley.

So accurate.

This is an absolute classic! Check out the Chris Waddle do on Jack Grealish!

Sancho's signing shows why Man Utd will never suffer 30 years between titles as Liverpool did. They can still afford to pay virtually any price for whatever players they want, and in spite of their trophy drought an entire generation of players and pundits have grown up watching a league totally dominated by them; that past success continues to echo loudly in the transfer market.

Don’t you have several of the most expensive players in the league as well though? Forgive me if I’m not too heartbroken for Liverpool’s trophy drought!

Oh, it's not a sob story - just noting the difference between the pre- and post- premier league eras. I don't think we'll ever see the "big" clubs fall away again as Liverpool did in the 90s after their biggest period of success...the game is too biased towards the rich clubs for that to happen that way again. Only self-destruction can do that - for example, Sheik Mansour losing interest and selling out to some far less rich or less committed ownership group.

Man Utd have been mis-owned for a long time and also mismanaged for years since Fergie left, but they still have a near-title winning squad and are just a few missing pieces away from silverware.

It also means that big, but still 'smaller' clubs like West Ham are are even less likely to win anything apart from the odd Cup unless they bring in a multibillionaire owner willing to turn on the cash taps in a big way.

Sadly you may well be right. But just because you are one of the greedy six today, doesn’t mean you will be part of the big six tomorrow. Things can and do change!

Good match between SUI and ESP. Switzerland had a legit chance at winning in regular time but for the ref pulling an absoludicrous red card on Freuler. 15 minutes to go until more spot kicks.
Spain have made it through but were hardly convincing... Dominant with their mesmeric passing but actually a bit weak defensively and light up top. They couldn't score two goals in 120 minutes against Switzerland...that's not the performance of a champion.

Both sides showed fatigue during the shootout, their previous matches having taken a toll. I was really hoping for another upset here, I felt the Swiss earned it.

Kudos to the Swiss, even though they lost, they made new fans with their play.

But, dear God, the penalties.

The penalties, the penalties, the penalties.

Good grief.

These days, at this level, it is inexcusable not to have practised taking penalties (endlessly) and not to be comfortable and confident when doing so.

2-1 so far. Italy just edging it.
Belgium really lucked out on the penalty - that was 50/50 ball, Doku dived and the ref (and VAR) bought it. Lukaku with the goofy stutter but he ended by striking an unsaveable penalty kck.

Italy look the more likely winners if they can keep their heads down. KDB is trying to do it all himself.

It was bad, but I think fatigue played a part in that one for both sides. Certainly not as embarrassing as the French collapse.

Well, I was wrong about KDB, he's been good and is still in the match. That could be crucial for Belgium. But they need a goal very quick here.

But a tragic moment for Spinazzola, who looks like he just did his hamstring. He's a big weapon on the wing for Italy and he's probably done for the tournament now.

This Italian time waisting is very frustrating to watch.
They are the masters of that crap.

Fair result. Italy were just about the better team and Insigne's goal was a lovely move and shot. Belgium were unable to take any of their chances in open play and Italy were able to clog the game up at the end and frustrate Belgium.

Italy have looked pretty solid from day one of this tournament and have to be favorites still. But losing Spinazzola is not a trivial event, that could cost them.

So that's it for Belgium's Golden Generation, perhaps? A team that Might Have Been champions.

Agree they were the better team. Now my mind is on the big event tomorrow night.

Belgium's backline was too old this time around. They all stood like statues while Insigne planted one in the top corner.

Italy have to be the favorites now. They've been the most consistent performers by far, but I agree that losing Spinazzola is a big blow for them.
