Wow.

This is astonishing.

From coasting and cruising, at three nil ahead, Spurs (classical "Spursy") leak three goals in the ten or so final minutes of normal time, (plus four added minutes) as West Ham fight back and claim a deserved draw.

After that start that’s a pretty good finish. My only gripe is Antonio didn’t get one as he’s in my fantasy team!

Well, be content with what you have, for, by all accounts, in the dying minutes, Bale missed an excellent chance, moreover, at a time, which would have made the score 4-2 to Spurs.

Columbus finally snapped their four game winless streak with a victory over NYCFC, and clinch a playoff spot. WE started the season very strongly but the last several weeks have seen a sudden and serious drop in form. Classic MLS streakiness.

...the Prem has gone bonkers. I love it!!

As long as the "bonkers" element stems from open play and not the VAR booth, I agree.

It's funny how some Spurs fans had them winning the league after the first 20 mins yesterday. They weren't quite so confident at full time.
Funny indeed. I’ve not had any replies from my Spurs friends today! But if they gave bonus points for the best goal in a game, we would have won hands down. That Lanzini strike is goal of the month.

Yeah, not much any 'keeper could do about that!

The FA has investigated the incident between Pickford and Virgil and it indeed conforms to one of my "ludicrous" scenarios mentioned previously - the incident was spotted by Michael Oliver and he decided it was not a red card offense. He didn't even bother to review it on the pitchside monitor. Under the rules that's it, no further action can or will be taken.

Offisdes are going to be judged scientifically by the millimeter, yet dangerous tackles and violent conduct are still entirely subjective human decisions.

After Liverpool won the CL and then the league, hundreds of pages of journalism were written about how success was made possible largely, if not exclusively through the acquisition of Van Dijk.

We are now about to find out how true that was. With Matip also hurt, there is no doubt that Liverpool now have a central defensive unit most would consider inadequate to challenge for big silverware. Can the rest of the squad compensate for this weakness? or will Liverpool simply ship too many goals for the rest of the season? Not to mention the loss in aerial threats during set pieces.

So, what you're saying is, Liverpool's defense are now just like ours, Arsenal

Nice try. ;)

With Big Virgil down for the season, you could argue that NONE of the title contenders have a defensive unit that is up to snuff. So the winner might be whoever can outscore the opposition the most often.

In which case the answer is simple. Man City will win the title.

But it might not be that simple...we shall see. Liverpool can be got at more easily now. Man City are still quite inconsistent. Chelsea's defense is a shambles. Arsenal have improved but are still clearly vulnerable at the back. Man Utd only win against teams who let them counterattack. Spurs are late-stage Mourinho. Everton are still Everton, even with James Rodriguez.

Sorry couldn’t resist! ;)

Liverpool and Manchester United are in talks about a breakaway European league apparently.
Apparently they need even more money that playing against the lower Premier League clubs can provide.

I wish I could say it would be too boring to succeed, but the Super League would be essentially what the NFL is in the US, and that is massively popular and profitable. I'm 100% against a super league. If Liverpool were to join such a league I would probably lose interest in them as well, at least as long as such a league existed.

The main purpose of the super league is a threat, a bargaining chip the largest European clubs use in their negotiations with FIFA and UEFA. But some day the bluff might be called and the league will come into being. I hope it never does.

Couldn't agree more. I don't know any fans who want it.

Agree with you both, and also agree with @Lord Blackadder that - for now - this is a nasty negotiating ploy, yes, a threat, designed to increased the leverage of some of the wealthiest and most successful clubs in their negotiations with FIFA and UEFA.

I can only hope that not only does it not succeed, but that it fails utterly.
