As a US viewer, My ESPN+ subscriptions is streaming all the matches from what ESPN calls 'multiview', which is shorthand for 'a really crappy single camera feed of the matches from way up at the top of the stadium with two other cameras constantly trained on the opposing managers.'

It's not even a gimmick. It's an insult to paying customers and a flagrant attempt to make me 'upgrade' to the 'regular' (expensive) ESPN subscription to see the 'real' product. ESPN's strategy: sell you a useless product, at a modest price, call its uselessness a 'feature', and charge a pile of money to 'upgrade' to something actually useful.

Twitter is already aflame.

...as for the actual football... ;)

Before the tournament I saw Turkey as, maybe not a dark horse, but a team that could knock out a big name. But they offered less today than I was hoping. Italy started slowly but came alive in the second half. They were in Rome though - I think that has to be factored in lest we get carried away.

Great equaliser for Wales and Moore. Not sure bringing James off was the right call though. They have just needed someone on the end of those crosses from Ramsey. For me Bale has been missing for large periods of the game.

Good draw for Wales. Survived a late VAR scare and their keeper pulled off some great saves. I think Switzerland will be disappointed. But a point is okay if they can win their next game.

Wales will be the happier side. Switzerland will be beaten by Italy in the next match, so if Wales can beat Turkey or even draw they’ll be in good shape to finish second in the group.
The Swiss had a lot of control and more chances. This was a lost opportunity for them.

Agreed. Although at least the VAR decision was correct.

I didn’t see the Denmark match, but shocked to hear that Erickson had heart failure in the game. Glad to hear he’s now responding well in hospital.

In other news, Moyes has signed a three year contract at West Ham. What a relief!
Watched the game and it was shocking mate. Too much coverage of the everything from CPR to defibrillator and his crying wife.....they should have cut away. As a Spurs fan I found myself in tears during the whole thing, it was haunting. I'm not religious, but he's now stable, so if something intervened, thank you.

Yes I read the coverage was a bit intense. At least he seems to be responding in hospital.

Terrifying ordeal for Eriksen, and frankly traumatizing for everyone involved in/watching the match. Extremely relieved to hear that he was awake and stabilized in the hospital.

It's an awful thing for the Danish players to have to suffer through, forming a circle around a fellow player who was, as far as they knew, fighting for his life on the pitch. And then trying to finish out a match while emotionally shattered. And, while it's certainly far less important, it's still a shame Finland don't get to properly enjoy a historic win for their national team.

The on-demand replay here in the US begins in the 43rd minute or so, they cut everything prior to Eriksen leaving the pitch.

I was watching, well had the telly on, the entire match.

I came back in the room just after he collapsed and tried to rewind to the moment it happened and it wouldn't let me.

Glad he seems to be on the mend.

20 minutes to go.

Lots of pressure on Harry Kane to get the goals. Stirling hadn’t been great of late. Looking forward to a good game. Expecting it to be cautious though.

Good win for England. Stirling found the net at the right time. Kane was largely ineffective. But three points means it would be very hard for us to not get out of the group stage now.

Obviously a great result for England against the second-best team in the group. Barring an embarrassing collapse, England should win the group now. It was a pretty dull match though. The move that resulted in the goal was possibly the only exciting one we saw from either team though Foden nearly scored as well with his shot off the bar. I wouldn't worry bout Kane needing to score all the goals - with Foden, Mount, and Sterling behind him England have, on paper, sufficient firepower.

Croatia soaked up England's pressure well for much of the game but didn't have a way through to goal. Modric played too deep when Croatia had to chase the game. the heat sucked some energy out of the match, and that was clearly a factor.

It was a good opening result. Foden looked good early on, but soon was less effective. Our defence did well despite no McGuire. Not that there were too many challenges.

North Macedonia were neck and neck with Austria till the 78th minute, a very creditable performance. But at the end of the day Austria's deeper talent pool got the job done. No surprises there, though Goran Pandev is still banging in goals for North Macedonia at the age of 37; hats off to him.
