With 9 players rested by City as well. Not doing my fantasy football any favours!
Yes.

They can canter to their coronation as Premier League Champions while resting nine senior players.
City's 'reserve team' still cost around £200m to assemble

And that tells its own story.

City's resources are such that their "reserves" are still considerably better than the first team that most clubs are able to field.

Brighton have secured a European spot next season - the first time that they have ever qualified for Europe - with their 3-1 defeat of already relegated Southampton.

Yes - I didn't even bother to watch the game - I have so completely lost interest in the Saints downfall and simply want a rest before getting behind them again in the championship next season.
Well done Brighton. I hope you push on next season and establish yourselves properly in the top half of the table.
Alas I think they may be doing a Saints and overperforming and showcasing their squad to those clubs with money who may want to rebuild or bolster their own squads...dare I say the likes of Liverpool, who were once referred to as Liverhampton...soon to be called Liverton?

Well played West Ham as well, this morning. Great stuff to wake up and see them doing the business. I have some Hammers friends and I will always have a soft spot for them. Plus I met a number of the players when they toured here (NZ) a few years ago and they were incredibly gracious with their time and great with my (then quite young) children.

I must honestly say I have a bit of a pang of regret seeing Man City crowned title winners again. But Arsenal did what they could through most of the season, but the wheels started to fall off and their lack of billions showed in the end. A brave fight, ultimately for nought, but a Champions League place. I am glad to see them back there though - the CL is nothing without a quarter final appearance/exit from Arsenal.

I'm laughing at your comments about how the CL is not the same without a quarter final (and/or exit) from Arsenal, though this is a masochistic treat that we have not been in a position to indulge ourselves in for the past - what is it? - six or so years.

Anyway, at least we have qualified for that competition: That will do the team (and the budget of the team) considerable good.

And, despite everything we have managed to finish the season in second place in the Premier League, which is no mean achievement.

Gosh.

Nevertheless, something tells me that this may be a (negotiating) ploy - or tactic - to try to persuade the Glazers to consider his bid, or to take his bid more seriously.
The Glazers will not sell unless they get their asking price of £6 billion which include the cost of any debts the Glazers incurred. The Glazers want to walk away debt free even though they bought the club on debt. Just goes to show the arrogance of the United owners, expecting the potential buyer to pay off the debt they created. I believe both bidders want to buy the club but they are not willing to pay off the Glazers debt.

When the club was put up for sale, financial experts that work for the tabloid press all valued the club at £5 billion. The club is not worth £6 billion. Whilst the Glazers have put money into transfers, they have basically run the club to the ground. The stadium has started to fall apart due to not having anything invested in it. The training ground needs updating as many of it's facilities are out of date and the club is the only one to have payed out shareholder dividends. The Glazers are leaving the club in a mess for any new owner to deal with and I think any advisor worth their salt would be telling bidders NOT to pay what the Glazers are asking for because of what they have done to the club. They are not leaving the club in a very good condition, it needs a billion maybe more just to get it back to level it once was due to the neglect of the Glazers and this could be a sticking point for any bidder, £6 billion to clear off the Glazers debt and a couple of billion more to clear up the mess the stadium and the training ground is in.

Thank you. Nice of you to say. Good luck in the Championship. Hopefully you can bounce straight back.

Sigh. If only there was some sort of governing body that could intervene.
There is but the thing is as with the majority of governing bodies in the UK, they always use the excuse 'we do not want to get involved in the affairs of a private run company/business' but by then it's too late. It's been 'open season' on buying English league clubs for years and the thing that is supposed to protect clubs, the owners 'fit and proper test' is a joke.

I know that. I was being sarcastic
Trouble is unless they remove current unfit and improper owners, it’s too late.
Sad.

Well just think if the man did buy West Ham, Harry Kane, Neymar and Mbappe will be all coming to West Ham lol (just as they were supposed to be coming to Man Utd when it was announced who the bidders were)

If half the players West Ham have been linked with over the years came to the club we’d be a top four side.
I’d just be happy if we kept hold of Rice.

A fair point, and, unfortunately, all too true.

It's happened before. We'll live.
Hopefully it won't take years and near-bankruptcy for us to bounce back like it did last time, but I can't see us doing a Burnley and coming straight back up.
Actually, I'm not sure that returning to the Premier League immediately (even if this is possible) is a good idea; to my mind, it is better to take a year to take stock, find (and nurture) some decent young players, craft a team together, sort out the finances, and then seek promotion.

Decent Brother (who supports Sunderland) is delighted with their current form, admires their current manager, Tony Mowbray, deeply regrets that a brilliant loanee from Manchester United (Amad Diallo) will probably have to return to Old Trafford - but has said to me that he doesn't think that they are quite ready for promotion (even though they managed to get to the play-offs, but were defeated by Luton Town over two legs) and thought that, even if they were promoted this year, that they would have headed right back down next season.
