City conveniently dropping points against Brighton after winning the title.

Brighton - who are an excellent and well-drilled team - fought hard, and well deserved their point.

Both teams had a disallowed goal.

I don't think that this was City "conveniently" dropping points; I think that Brighton fought them every step of the way.

Happy to see Brighton into Europe’s second tier. Hopefully we can join them!

Agreed.

I'm very pleased to see them into Europe's second tier.

They are a well-run club, who play attractive football, and I'm delighted to see that they were quite ferocious against Manchester City tonight.

Actually, to his astonishment, (and Guardiola's fury) Haaland had a goal disallowed.

That is not City "dropping points conveniently".

Nobody is a bigger critic of Man City than I am, but it's not unusual for a team to take their foot off the gas a little bit after winning a title. Even professional footballers can't be expected to maintain maximum focus under those circumstances, and Brighton were indeed up for it.

City didn't get out of 1st or 2nd gear.

Brighton were good and motivated, but City were not at their usual level. Likely because;
1. They've already won the EPL title
2. There's a monumental final yet to still be played.

No player is gonna risk themselves with that game on the horizon.

As for Brighton, i'll enjoy their success for now but its pretty much inevitable that they'll end up like Leicester and Southampton.

Their squad will be gutted and they will lack the resources to compete on all fronts and then slowly slide down the table.

Hopefully Tony Bloom doesn't let them disintegrate altogether

I disagree.
I watched the game this morning and Brighton took it to Man City.
City tried but failed to win the game.
The Brighton team looked up for it and the longer it went on, the more you could see Guardiola getting anxious.
He wanted the team to coast, but wouldn't allow it because the opposition would've torn them apart. It was a stern test for them and one that they couldn't have dealt with any other way at any other stage of the season.
Brighton were the better team on the day and despite disallowed goals and hitting the woodwork, both teams played out a gripping game of football. There was no suggestion of either team taking it easy.

As a Nottingham Forest fan, I hope Leicester go down and next season end up with Derby in league one
No love lost there then lol

I suppose you would like to see Leeds, Wolves and Aston Villa get relegated as well then so Forest can be the only Midlands team in the Premier league.

Manchester United have been happily destroying Chelsea; the score stands at 4-1 in the 90th minute.

I thought Manchester United's lack of clinical finishing was a problem this season — I should've watched more Chelsea matches. They are really, really bad. Poch has a big job ahead of him. And I wish I could go on stealing a living like Frank Lampard has.

Great to have job done before the final match of the season. Rest and rotate, hopefully win and wrap up third place.

Watching the Chelsea vs Utd game this morning (NZ Time) and I have to ask...How did Bruno not get a yellow for simulation part way through the game when he was clearly looking for a penalty that was not given?
Also - How did De Gea get away with kicking out at the Chelsea player after the challenge in the air saw them have a minor scuffle at the end of the game? Would have been a red card at the WC where Beckham got his marching orders for England doing the same thing.
There were a few strange calls, here and there, but none that would have changed the outcome - Chelsea are awful this season and are lucky to have escaped being dragged into the relegation pit.
The Chelsea players were clearly rattled and the tense feelings nearly boiled over a few times on the pitch, but ultimately I think the scoreline, while flattering, was a clear indication of the difference between the two clubs under their respective coaches.
Ten Haaaaag has worked wonders with a team that looked pretty ordinary at the mid-part of this season. Hats off to the guy.

There was slight contact from the defender on that play. Might've been called a foul in the middle of the pitch, but not enough for a penalty IMO, and not really simulation.

For the call where Bruno actually did win a penalty, I've seen United not get calls for similar or worse contact in previous matches. Maybe the fact that Bruno so thoroughly beat his marker to get into the area played a part, but it was by no means the wrong call.

Pulisic went in on De Gea challenging for a ball in the air in front of goal, barging in with arm flailing while De Gea was camped under the ball. I didn't see whether Pulisic was whistled for a foul on that or not, but Lindelöf quickly got involved defending his keeper.

The one that was weird to me was Enzo going in on Sancho after Bruno scored the penalty. United weren't celebrating wildly or anything, but maybe they were slow to get back up the pitch to restart play? Who knows.

This could've finished about 8-4. United need to really clean up the midfield and defense if they want to give city a game at Wembley.

Yeah, the penalty that was given was a bolted-on pen. No doubt.
I agree about the Enzo/Sancho bust up. What was that even about? Seemed so completely unnecessary and out of keeping with the situation, if not the occasion.

Re the Pulisic situation - I think he was justified to challenge for the ball the way he did and Lindeloff should've minded his own business. They both had their eyes firmly on the ball and all he wanted to do was to score (God knows, he does so little of it). The keepers are far too protected nowadays and personally, I think they should be challenged more often.
It was the kick out at Pulisic from De Gea after he got up that I was referring to - totally unnecessary and (in my opinion) a cardable offence (and under the Laws of the Game a red card offence). It was in the late stages of the game and would've made a bad situation worse, so understand the reluctance to send him off, but he should've got at least a yellow.

Leeds is in Yorkshire, nowhere near the midlands. Villa & Wolves are in the West Midlands. Forest, Leicester and Derby are in the East Midlands. We are already the biggest and best team in the East Midlands. Job done.

My error with Leeds but really!!, you want to break it down to individual regions so Forrest can be seen to be the best?? lol

oh and with the Utd v Chelsea game, it just goes to show how really bad Chelsea are because they made Utd look good.

The East Midlands is a completely different region from the West Midlands, economically, socially and politically. We, (Forest, with one r not two!)have a local rivalry with Leicester and Derby. We have no rivalry with any team from the West Midlands. And there is no “seen to be”. We are the biggest and best team in the East Midland.

I work with a guy who supports Derby. I can’t repeat anything he says about Forest on here as I’ll get banned!

I feel the same way about Millwall.

My brother in law is a very staunch Derby supporter. The only team he has a distaste for is Man Utd because apparently they stopped Derby doing the double one year and ever since then he's had a total dislike of Man Utd.

Regional loyalties can be very strong and are often expressed when people support a team from their own region.

Man Utd having Casimiro back is going to make the FA Cup a very interesting game because his presence in the team seems to ignite a flame under the rest of the players. Before I would have said it was a dead cert for a Man City win but with him back and the pairing he has with Bruno, I'm no so sure now of City winning it.

Manchester United have Casemiro back - who, despite his discipline record (which has cost him quite a few appearanxes, when serving match bans) has been an excellent player for them when he does appear.

However, it seems that they may have lost Antony to injury - he was stretchered off against Chelsea.

What was funny about the Chelsea game is how disjointed, dysfunctional and dreadful Chelsea have been despite spending over £600 million on players since last summer.

Antony has not really preformed all that well this season but he would have been a very useful sub for the cup final if things were going bad for Utd. Now with him out, Utd will have to look towards one of the less experienced reserve team players. I believe City have got there own worries with injuries to players as well.

Unfortunately, City have strength in depth; injuries don't matter quite as much to them, - or, rather, do not have as much of an effect as would be the case with such injuries with other teams - because they have a sufficient number of quality players - players who would stroll into a first team with any other club - on their bench.
