Yessss.

4-0 to Arsenal.

Now, that is what I had hoped - and wanted - to see by way of emphatic reply, a solid answer, to our earlier underwhelming performance against Everton. This is much more like it.

So, Martinelli now has scored two goals this evening.

Excellent.

A happy Gunner here.
Helps us as well. Keep Everton below us.

Everytime i see Iwobi’s

Goal difference down to 6 now.

Yes, this had occurred to me, also.

This is a very good result for our goal difference, is an emphatic victoryr and will wash away any remaining, lingering memories of our earlier unfortunate game against Everton.

Terrible finish. What pathetic defending for that last goal. Beaten 3-1 and we ‘scored’ 3 of the goals.
Two own goals?

Wince.

That is a combination of ridiculous and awful.

You have my sympathies; what a terrible way to lose, especially as you had fought well for the best part of eighty minutes.

However, you had opportunities - including one excellent chance in the first half - to have led by two goals which would have put some serious pressure on Manchester United.

One own goal. The other was basically a pass to the opposition in the box.

West Ham deserved better, at least to bring matters to the test of extra time - for, Manchester United were no great shakes - but they failed to convert enough of their earlier chances.

At this level, you will be punished for such profligate waste in front of goal.

Hardly a classic Man Utd performance, and really shows the drop-off in quality when Licha, Varane, and Casemiro aren't playing. The team kept on fighting, and that's what you want to see.

Garnacho didn't have a great game, but one deft touch and one well-placed finish is all it takes. And Weghorst's presence and pressing were instrumental to the OG and Fred's strike; he adds real value to a squad for sure.

It's going to be Fulham at home in the next round. Burnley to visit city — homecoming for Kompany.

Every time i see Iwobi’s hair he reminds me of this character from Predator lol.

Others have noted that Southampton suffered a Cup defeat (at the hands of a deserving Grimsby Town), but nobody has yet commented on the fact that Spurs were also stunned by defeat in the Cup, losing by a goal to nil to Sheffield United.

Elsewhere, in the Premier League, - the only other Premier League this evening apart from Arsenal's game against Everton (revenge is sweet, and while revenge is also a dish best consumed cold, yes, nevertheless, still, at times, on the palate, it can taste almost embarrassingly sweet), Liverpool defeated Wolves by two goals to nil.

thanks, EPL.com and Peacock don't share info
my dumbness missed the Manu-Newcastle match sunday
I would have love to watch that!

ESPN carries the FA Cup and Carabao Cup in the US. I'm actually happier to watch the matches on ESPN+ because the streaming delay isn't as bad as it is on Peacock.

The Premier League app also shows the networks each match is being shown on. Very helpful for that, as well as managing one's Fantasy Premier League team.

I never miss a match, I just forgot or did not follow up
I would hav supported Newcastle, they need some silverware.

The way the FA cup draw has gone I can see it being a Man City v Man United final.

FA Cup quarter-final draw

Manchester City v Burnley

Manchester United v Fulham

Brighton & Hove Albion v Grimsby Town

Sheffield United v Blackburn Rovers

Possible/probable outcomes:
Man City win
Man U/Fulham - too close to call for me, but Fulham could nick it
Brighton win
Blades/Blackburn...probably a Blades win, if I am honest.

So - then the draw could be any of the following teams facing each other;
City
Man U/Fulham
Brighton
Blades/Blackburn

Either way, City will be randomly drawn to play the winner of Blackburn/Sheffield in the semis and the other game will be an all-Prem match-up, so it'll look like this in the semis:
City vs Blades/Blackburn
Brighton vs Man U/Fulham

I can't see the Fulham or Brighton games being easy, based on current form.

Granted United did not make it easy for themselves in the beginning against West Ham but they had too much in the tank not to lose the game. If United stay on this form and the players do not get injured I cannot see Fulham beating them unless United implode during the game.

West Ham failed to take their chances, and, at this level, such profligacy is invariably punished.

The first half could easily have ended with West Ham leading by two goals, and, while United had the fire power, "too much in the tank", and strength in depth to come back, it would still have been a challenge. Remember, West Ham were level until the 90th minute.

And, also remember, that first Manchester United goal was an own goal.

United are there for the taking, that's for sure but as you say at this level you've got to make chances count. If memory serves me right the exact same thing happened to United in a EFL cup game, it was 0v0 till the dying minutes, United make some subs and go on to win the game. If Fulham are to beat United then they know they have got to make chances count because United have already proven that if a team does not take their chances they will end up losing.

West Ham's goal was also controversial, as it looks like Tomas Soucek allowed the ball to run fully out of play. The officials didn't call it, United switched off for a couple of seconds, and West Ham punished them.

I'd have been very nervous about going to the Cottage, but United should be able to take care of business at OT. (Should.) Fulham are very good and won't be taken lightly at all.

Not really controversial. United simply forgot the golden rule. Play to the whistle.
We gifted them two goals. Without those two mistakes it could have been a different night.

Anyway I’m more focused on our game with Brighton this weekend. That will be tough.

Speaking of Brighton, Caicedo does a 180 and signs a new deal that locks him in the club till 2027...allowing Brighton to get maximum profit from whoever comes for him.
