Speaking of Brighton, Caicedo does a 180 and signs a new deal that locks him in the club till 2027...allowing Brighton to get maximum profit from whoever comes for him.

They do a really good business over there at Brighton. And props to Caicedo for doing right by the club, as well. Hopefully he sacked whoever advised him to do that Instagram post.

Hopefully it doesn’t give them a boost this weekend. But yes I think it’s a very well run club punching above their weight. Hopefully they can displace one of the greedy six come the end of the season.

66MIN, Citeh is just to technically great!
newcastle is play good enough to draw tho.

My Friend from USA is in the Emirates Arsenal Stadium and toured the locker room.
I hope they win for him, and the rest of the Gunners!

Wow...incredible match/story at the Emirates

Meanwhile Potter gets a win, and Moyes...well...

Spurs...same old

Refs did Arsenal a real solid by allowing play to continue until they could score the winner. Gutting for the Cherries, but the type of result that champion sides pull off.

Surely the end of the line for Moyes.

I ****ING LOVE ARSENAL.

What a comeback.
Not today, I didn't.

That is the sort of performance that turns your hair grey.

Nevertheless, an immensely relieved and yes, happy, Gunner, here this evening.

And the fact that Arsenal came from behind to claim victory says a lot about their attitude this season.

Yes, agreed, this is the type of result that (potential) champion sides pull off.

During their years of dominance, I used to be incensed at the number of victories that Manchester United secured - or pulled off - after 90 minutes, some coming as late as the 99th minute.

Now, when the same things happens with us, I find that my feelings are ambivalent, (which I do not like), I want to kill the team for putting us through the wringer, and I also want to salute their attitude, which was to keep fighting until the bitter end.

The Arsenal of a few seasons ago would simply have surrendered, with shrugged shoulders and a somewhat spineless body language; fortunately, those days are long gone (thanks to Mikel Arteta and the broader changes he has effected in the football culture of the team, both on and off the pitch).

In fact, today, at half time, gritting my teeth, and muttering "I hate Arsenal" - I had decided to head into the city, taking in both the French bakery - to pick up the bread I had ordered yesterday by phone, requesting that they put it aside for me - and the cheesemonger's, for cheese and local honey.

Thus, yes, I decided to spare myself the agony - and make no mistake, this is agony, this is torture, this is pleasure as pain, - Nick Hornby had it right - of the second half.

That all sounds very good!

Yes, it was good, very good (the cheeses are described in the cheese thread).

And, @Sal09, not only was I muttering "I hate Arsenal", I was also moodily ruminating about what exactly it is that I hate about them, and it is their "capricious inconsistency", their unreliability, their capacity to put you through the wringer, even when they are top of the table.

Earlier this week, - in fact, right up to this morning - after the 4-0 thrashing of Everton, I recall feeling unexpectedly....comfortable, calm, composed, a perfectly delightful feeling, and one I haven't been able to indulge since the season when the Invincibles were, well, Invincible.

Then, today's match started. One minute, just one minute.....just one minute was all it took to puncture my cosy bubble of ease and comfort.

Yes, Nick Hornby had it absolutely right.

So I'm posting away on one of the WEDNESDAY boards I post at and I comment that I don't care for the nickname "Posh", we were playing Peterborough. by the by...

One of the members comes back with, "Go Chiefs! Why don't you shut the **** up and go shoot up a school!" ...

He roots for the same team I do and that was his response... I get it he was saying that the name "Chiefs" is really and truly offensive, which I agree.

But that last bit? Damn. As someone who works in an elementary school I was more than taken aback and offended... Am I wrong?

I left this very same board many years ago because of this type of nonsense and I believe it was from the same member.

I think that there is no need to be rude, and agreed, that is an extraordinarily offensive post.

One of the things that I like about this thread (and its predecessors) is the congenial and supportive atmosphere here; there is nothing nasty or thuggish, or offensive.
