EDIT: In other news, Premier League, those champions of justice, have now bravely ruled that owners guilty of human rights abuses are disqualified from owning a club. The words 'the least they can do' are marching rapidly in the direction of the conversation here...and of course this immediately, necessarily, makes them hypocrites in at least the spirit if not the letter of the law, since some of the clubs in the league are effectively owned by states that are unquestionably guilty of human rights abuses. But will never be punished.
So what they're saying is that they're all full up with Superclubs owned by the Middle Eastern overlords and they don't really want any more, because there's got to be some clubs who just don't get above their station...

Typical PL move to shut the barn door after the horse has already bolted. They banned leveraged buyouts well after the Glazers took over United, and already let city and Newcastle get taken over by the human rights abusers.

I guess Sir Jim and the American bankers are well pleased, though.

EPL virtue signalling at its finest and classically late and pointless.

Now onto the business end of the season.

Who will stay up

Who is going down

Will Arsenal sustain or buckle

Will Newcastle get top 4

Who will be the kings of Europe

Should be interesting.

Manchester City thrash Liverpool by four goals to one.

And Gabriel Jesus scores (a penalty) for Arsenal, his first gaol for Arsenal since October: Thus Arsenal lead Leeds, by a goal to nil.

3-0 now. I’m quite happy with that result. Nothing against Leeds, I just need the teams within reach to lose more often than we do!

Ah, happy sigh.

A comprehensive defeat of Leeds, retention of our Premier League lead, and the current gap of eight points between ourselves and Manchester City has been successfully maintained.

Business as usual for the top 2.

Meanwhile Woy gets 3pts, and a massive 3 pts for Bournemouth.

Podence...what are you doing.

Oh dear Chelsea

West Ham have to beat Soton tomorrow or they will really be in trouble

West Ham get the 3 points but far from convincing. Still not out of danger with that performance.

Meanwhile Brendan Rodgers has been given his P45. Seems the owners finally accepted that they are in a relegation scrap

The fact that a single victory could allow West Ham to leap to 14th place (from 19th place) - thus, for now, escaping the threat of immediate danger or eventual relegation - shows just how tight things are at the bottom of the table.

Southampton are rock bottom of the table, and, worryingly, are now coming just a little adrift from the other relegation contenders. At 23 points, they are two points below the next team (Leicester, on 25 points), with Everton a further point ahead, on 26 points, as are Leeds, who have a better goal difference.

Above them, on 27 points, in ascending order, are Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest, and West Ham, while Wolves, on 28 points, are in 13th place.

Re Leicester: Until this season, Brendan Rodgers had actually done quite well at Leicester. They had qualified for one of the European competitions twice, won the FA Cup (for the first time in their history) and won the Charity (Community) Shield. According to the Guardian/Observer, he is the twelfth top flight manager to have departed this season.

We've got a real scrap for Top 4 with Man United's league form continuing to be dreadful. Still not enough quality depth in the squad to keep things rolling through injuries and suspensions. ETH's been getting a lot wrong with his selections lately, but his choices have been severely limited.

Can McTominay retire from club football and focus on Scotland? I'm sure everyone would be happier with that.

They all count! As for Rogers, it’s really not his fault. They sell half the team and expect him to perform miracles.

United were really dire. The drop off without Casemiro and a firing Rashford is too massive.

ETH selection decisions also dodgy.

None of the top 4 contenders are particularly convincing. It looks set to be a slug over the line.

Potter gone.
Gosh.
Wow. Thats the 13th PL manager this season.
The 13th PL manager fired/discarded/asked to resign this season, yes, but - to my mind - that is less the story than Chelsea's own uniquely dysfunctional history of managerial turnovers in the PL.

To be quite candid, anyone walking into - or accepting - the position of manager/head coach in Chelsea needs their head examined, and also needs to recognise that their tenure will be short, brutal, and invariably abruptly terminated.
Tweet from Twitter:

It cost Chelsea £21m to buy out Graham Potter’s contract from Brighton and £60m to sack him. An appointment that will go down in football history.

😮😮😮😮😮
That is hilarious.

This has been an exceptionally expensive season for Chelsea.

Well it might not be good for his career, but it certainly won't do his bank balance any harm.

That job has been a poisoned chalice for a long time. Doesn’t seem like new ownership made any difference there. No clue what their plan is, other than blindly throw money at other clubs’ top transfer targets.
