I am reading about it, - as I did with Wimbledon - but am not watching any of the matches.
Interesting, I am more passionate about tennis (and hockey and figure skating) but have not watched any Wimbledon matches either. Though Sinner (for men) and Swiatek (for the women) are pretty amazing players to be sure.

I just like the atmosphere here among fans who attend the women's matches and in the fanzones, we have not had any trouble (which has not always been the case with the Swiss men's league let alone in other countries) and it's a positive development for women's sport.

For some reason this Women's Euro's have not interested me one bit. I've watched many of the other Women's Euro's over the years but this one, I cannot put my finger on it, I've just not be interested. I've not even read about it. I am a big fan of football and will watch games when I can, even highlights and have done so for many years but this years Women's Euro's for some reason I've just not be interested, which is so not like me.

As for tennis, I used to enjoy watching both the men's and women's but stopped watching the women because of their loud 'grunts' every time they hit the ball and stopped watching men's tennis when Jannik Sinner was given a measly 3 months suspension for taking banned substances in 2024, he was world No.1 at the time, a position many critics have said influenced why he was only given 3 months.

While I disdained (indeed disdain) the CWC, I am of the opinion that trophies should be presented to - indeed, be awarded to - the actual victor in the competition, to reside in their particular trophy cabinet, rather than be put on permanent display somewhere else.

AIUI, the presentation trophy is not typically installed in the champions' home, rather, they get an engraved replica which lives there in perpetuity while the original typically resides with FIFA, to be presented to the next champion. That it was diverted speaks to the corvid instinct of the person in question, who simply cannot resist shiny things, especially if they are golden.

Ah, I see.

Thus, the (original) trophy is supposed to remain with FIFA, while the victorious team receives a replica.
to be presented to the next champion.
Okay.

Indeed.

I have to say that - while I had thought myself beyond surprise - I was left speechless when I read about this.

If memory serves me right, this happens to ALL the football trophies now. The winners are handed the real trophy but then they are immediately given a replica because the actual trophies are too valuable and are at risk of being stolen, which has happened in the past to both the FIFA world cup and England's FA Cup.

It may happen that the victorious team receives a replica (and this is something that I hadn't known), but I will argue that the original usually remains with the body that awards the trophy, rather than.....elsewhere.

So I’ve been to a company in my previous role who had the tooling to make the Champions League trophy replicas. Or at least the metal spun part. In the Jewellery quarter in Birmingham.

Makes sense you don’t want to lose the trophy. I’m sure you are all familiar with the story of the missing World Cup trophy and Pickles the dog!

Things you do for your one and only kid who supports Liverpool and not Arsenal 😂.

Ballot Entry done. Now wait for the results.

The thing I do not understand with this ballot is that you have to select the 'tier' you want to sit in. From my understanding each tier in a football stadium is different BUT the tier's are a fixed price so how come in that screen shot it has a min and max price? In my understanding it shouldn't. This ballot method seems to be a bit dishonest to me or is there something I am totally not understanding about this ballot system?

It lets you pick multiple seating preferences to increase chances of getting a ticket hence the min. and max price.

I’m not sure about Anfield but at some other stadiums there are various prices within a tier. Sitting in the front coupe of rows for example is generally more expensive.

Many years ago I lived in Newcastle. Someone I worked with kid had the whole bedroom. Newcastle bedding, curtains and wallpaper. No sooner had they finished that and he decided he was going to be a Man Utd supporter. His parents were not pleased!
My brother is a mad Burnley fan but now lives in Kent. I’m a Liverpool fan but no stranger to Turf Moor. We found ourselves at our parents house with his eldest son so decided to go on t’Turf via the shop. “I want a shirt” says the boy (about 10 or 11 I guess). “You live in Kent and this is probably the only time you’ll come here, you can have a scarf” says my brother. Scarf bought we take our seats right at the top and back of the cantilever stand that replaced the old Longside. The nutters haven’t changed though. Come half time Burnley are losing so we nip to the bar for a beer. Take our seats for the second half when the boy rips the scarf off and throws it at his dad “I don’t even know why I’m wearing this, I support Man Utd” he shouts. Time for cool uncle to step in. “See that guy in the flat cap way down at the front?”. “Yep” says the kid. “Well he’s the only one that didn’t hear you”

Thank you for that. So looking at your previous post again and the difference in prices, is there anything that stop's Liverpool from always using the most expensive price? because there is a difference of £132, lower price suits you, more expensive suits Liverpool.

Yes. The availability of seats. Most expensive seats are the ones with best views and Im certain most of them are already allocated to season ticket holders.

When ballot opened yesterday at 10 am there were already 11k people in front of me in Q.

Most expensive seat @ £61 per match is still cheap imo.
