It is going to be a hard pill to swallow for Sweden because they were by far the better team. Swedish keeper Jennifer Falk is going to be devastated at blasting the ball over the bar at the penalty shoot out because her spot kick could have won it for Sweden.

This happens a lot in football, the team who plays the better ends up being the loser.

Great match! Got home in time to see most of the game. And all the saves she made on the PK round. What a shame. @Lioness~ ..?

Due to the Euros being on I decided to look into the prize money of both the recent men's and women's Euro's and I was shocked at what I found.

The women's 2022 euros (meant to take place in 2020 but was re-scheduled to 2022 due to covid) and the men's 2020 euro's and have to admit I am absolutely disgusted at the difference in money and before anyone say's it I do not agree with the argument that men's football should get better money because the men's game is more popular than the women's game.

The figures:
Women 2022

Qualification to the final series: €600,000
Win a match in group stage: €100,000
Draw a match in group stage: €50,000
Reaching the quarter-final: €205,000
Reaching the semi-final: €320,000
Runner-up: €420,000
Champions: €660,000

Men 2020

Qualification to the final series: €9.25 million
Win a match in group stage: €1.5 million
Draw a match in group stage: €750,000
Reaching the quarter-final: €3.25 million
Reaching the semi-final: €5 million
Runner-up: €7 million
Champions: €10 million

I am truly disgusted at those figures. I bet if I delve into the Women's 2025 figures when they are released it will be much of the same.

It is a shame, Sweden has a strong team and I hoped more from them.

Short analyze the day after: it was a clear tactical miss from the National Team Captain!

He should have played some of the younger player from start, as some of our star-player as Rolfö etc. didn’t have 90 min in them, due to late injuries etc. - but are brilliant penalty executioner.

They knew that it would be a tough and tight game against England. It mostly is.
Would’t take the Einstein of Football to figure out that it could be a long game that could end with penalties.
Gerhardson himself usually says himself that the final eleven is more important than starting eleven - now he didn't listen and didn’t executed that very well.

Gerhardsson is stepping down after The Women’s Euro - it was decided before the EURO.

Tony Gustavsson will take over from now on as the Women’s national team captain in Sweden.

Football moves on - next match is more important than yesterday's game, after a proper analyse.

Despite the missed PK Falk was amazing.

Grotesque, nothing more to say. I wish I had an idea what to do, if I had the power I would do something, after solving more pressing issues of course.

The investing has to come from Women themselves in the 1st place I think.
Michele Kang do a lot for Women’s Football today, and she have probably just started.
Very cool woman if you ask me, based on and what I’ve heard from our Swedish player's that plays in her teams/clubs.

You are so right. But here is the problem, there are many powerful and extremely rich women out there in the world who could help advance woman's sports ten fold but they don't. The biggest problem women's sports have is they do not get much public recognition because men's sports are always give priority. There are many many women's sports that now get televised but they have to fight a congested schedule against men's sports and the men's sports win all the time. Some woman or even a man for that matter needs to be brave enough to create and setup a female sports channel that only shows female sports, 24hr hours a day and get the channel added to Sky, netflix, Amazon or even Freeview. The channel would a test to see just how popular female sports are. The channel would show every sport women partake in and then viewing figures could be taken to see which sports got the most interest.

Sponsors wont come forward because they say there is not enough people watching female sports and broadcasters say they will not show female sport on TV because their is not much interest in female sport. Someone with money is going to have to take a leap of faith and get the ball rolling because otherwise female sport is always going to struggle to get airtime on television.

The Women's recent world cup was one of the highest viewed on television ever, same with the Women's 2022 Euro's, it's viewing figures were extremely high. It shows the interest is there, it just needs someone with the guts and drive to make it available 24/7 on television. People will watch it, I am pretty sure of that.

I do not know what it is like in other countries when it comes to women's football but a classic example of people not understanding the interest in the women's game of football is the monumental error Nike made when they made the women's 2022 Euro's England kit available of all the players except the goalkeeper because the big bosses at Nike took it upon themselves in the belief that not many people would want the goalkeeper kit and thus could not justify making it. Fan's up and down the country were disgusted, they wanted a goalkeeper shirt with the name Earps on it (Mary Earps, England goalkeeper) but it was impossible. It caused Nike such a huge PR problem that they took the decision to produce the shirt, tens of thousands of the shirt were sold when it was released.

So, back to the women's only sport channel, if the viewing figures flopped then the people would have their proof, not enough people interested in watching women's sport BUT if the viewing figures are massive then it would show to all the main broadcasters around the world that there is huge interest in women's sport and thus they need to show it more on television.

But it is going to have to take women to do it because I do not feel men are interested in showing women's sport on television.

Not anything of what you usually rant about has any validity concerning Women’s Football in my world - so I usually ignore your opinions and posts about it. But sure, you are entitled to your opinions based on your experiences.
But I will answer this because as you are so very off...

In Sweden, Womens’s National Football Team are insanely popular - rated as the no.1 of all national teams, so our ’free' (we pay for it on our tax though) national Sport-channel sends and require all needed rights concerning absolutely EVERYTHING regarding our Womens Football team.
They don’t do that concerning our Men’s by far, so the guys have to work on it...

If I want to see other Women’s Football’s matches there’s plenty of places to use.
But sure, for the not so 'knowledgable viewer’ it might not seems that way.
Honestly I think women’s football has evolved just fine without men who just want to watch women’s football of sexists reasons.
Now I will leave you under whatever type of stone you live under....

I shall answer your rude post in kind. Your only interested in Sweden and what Sweden does. Your post history shows you are only interested in Swedish players. You have no interest in women's football outside of Sweden. I have followed women's football with interest for decades. I know far more about women's football than you care to realise. That is all I am going to say on the subject.

France - Germany 🔥 went into penalties.
Think Germany have a better chance against Spain then France could have had. German goalkeeper was heroic.

I'm all in on Spain.
I'm just sooooo tired on the ball rolling barca style, and spain is mostly barca.
I was so happy when Arsenal beat barca in the WCL - that it was a Swede that made the winning goal only made it better.
The Swede we had in barca have left after contract was over, so less reason to cheer for barca now either.

So go go Germany ⚽️ 🥳 ⚽️ ♥️ ⚽️
German goal-keeper is so awesome in many ways too. She have survived 2 thyroid cancer-treatments (2017, 2022) and she is here and do the most spectacular saves for Germany.

For the complaints btw that I got that I only cheer on Swedish players - uhhm I am Swedish so I don't see any wrogdoing in that.

But I can't express my appreciation for Vivianne Midemma as a football-player enough.
To me she have been one of the best women player out there for a long time.
Watched her games whenever it have been possible
I liked watch the german Alexandra Popp too. Tough player.
Our neighbours, the Norwegian and Danish teams have plenty of great players too, non mentioned none forgotten.
Never forget what Marta has done for the Women's Football - a real gigant in Women’s Football.

Wow! That's amazing, so many amazing players. Well I wish Germany well they are certainly great, and as Switzerland is out (Greece didn't qualify in any case) I can watch in a detached manner. Anyway, nothing wrong with supporting the home team, example on the local news we had Swiss and Spanish fans at a bar watching the match were Switzerland was eliminated. Both sets of fans were polite, enthusiastic and respectful even if they had a fair amount of grain and grape.

Switzerland have been great - Pia have quite improved them it seems, at least since last I saw the swiss. Pia is tactical very good, with a very long and broad experience. Can't say that I really know her a lot, but our roads have crossed some in the world of football.

Hard core Fans maybe have a problem with attachment, players usuallly not ao much.
They change team, and even countries - leaders do that as well.
The love to the game is what matters ♥️

Viktor Gyökeres move to Arsenal from Sporting are final. Been a lot of twist and turns in that ’affair’ - a lot of money involved for that guy.

According to The Athletic, normally a credible source, Sporting and Arsenal are only details from agreeing. The contract is reported to be five years and the transition sum will be £ 63.5 million, plus bonuses forn over £ 10 million according to the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Swedish media have followed this transfer closely lately.
I'm looking forward to see more of his great play most probably from England, then from Portugal.

Another great escape for England. Whoever wins the Spain v Germany game, I cannot see England beating them unless England bring their A game which they have not done throughout the tournament. Spain are still favourites to win it.

Haven't been keeping up with the Euros but fair play to England for getting to the final which some would say is already a win regardless of what happens.
Spain and Germany are overwhelming favourites but anything can happen in football

Re-club football. Looks like Arsenal got their man after some tussling. I hope Gyokeres does well since the record of strikers from the portuguese league isn't...great
But if Merino can score seven goals in that Arsenal team then there's hope for Gyokeres. Plus he looks like he really has something to prove seeing how both him and his agent fought for the move.
Arteta gets his missing puzzle and with that loses all excuse for failing to deliver next season.

Liverpool also approaching £300m spent with the agreement for Ekitike. I guess that puts to bed the Isak rumours.

Rashford takes a 15% paycut to join Barca and i suspect he is going to do well. At least he has no excuse if Antony is doing something at Betis.

Utd get Mbuemo and pay the English tax for him. But he's an improvement on what they have. However, that midfield still looks lethargic and pedestrian.

Next season is looking to be spicy especially since its a World Cup season with plenty of players having something to prove
