Alas, Chelsea v Arsenal cannot (not remotely) be classed as an advertisement for the game of football.

Too many nasty fouls (on both sides); neither side are exactly covering themselves in glory, just now.

Approaching half time, with the score at nil all, Chelsea, playing at home, are down to ten men, as Caicedo has been dismissed with a red card for a disgusting foul on Merino (a studs in shin bone sort of foul).
From a Liverpool perspective a draw works

Don't know - let alone understand - why Lewis-Skelly has been summoned from the bench during the half time break; his form at present is less than inspiring, while his judgment - under pressure - is questionable.

Ten man Chelsea lead by a goal to nil.

Arsenal have been underwhelming so far today.

Arsenal claim a point, with a hard-fought if sub-par display, (however, both Saliba and Maghalaes were absent through injury, and I will further note that Gyokeres - who has been injured also, but returned today - has not really impressed since he joined the squad), while ten man Chelsea defended superbly.

We didn't play well but happy to take the point and move on considering we had one less day to rest, and it was away.

Pep should send a nice bottle of wine to Maresca for the assist.

I'm glad Caicedo self-sabotaged himself. Fell for the media hype clearly. The whole Chelsea team were running on far too much adrenaline. Cucurella getting a yellow also helped nerf himelf for the goal

Anyway, Dec seems to be relative kinder in terms of fixtures (Brighton and Villa will be tricky). But no Chelsea/LFC/MCI which is good considering the typical holiday fixture congestion.

And hopefully our injury situation improves further

Seriously? Given how poor Liverpool are I’m sure they are well passed caring who will win the league or even come second.
We would like to make top 4 though and if West Ham proves a turning point (unlikely I know) then the title itself is still open, bigger leads have been lost in the past.

It’s like 2005 all over again. 🤣

Mo being dropped is non-news. He’s in a slump, logic demands a change.
Salah isn’t getting the supply, that TAA once afforded him, and with sides working out his threat, both supply and demand, it has been negated.
Liverpool should never have bought Isak, I fear his attitude is toxic within the club.
Hopefully they pick up a central defender in the January window.

For context. I am a Fulham FC supporter, and a big fan of PL football.
There is nothing more entertaining, IMHO, than a season where the big clubs, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd, and Liverpool are at their best. Throw in 3 or 4 other clubs who are playing great football, makes for one great season.
With Liverpools lack of draw’s, their points tally isn’t that far off.
I truly believe this is going to be, one of the most interesting title/top 6 fights in decades.

Mixed feelings.
Merino is becoming one of my favorite signings.
But why every game we play now we're picking up injuries. Mosquera and Rice the latest.
Arteta and his staff really need to sort this out.

Meanwhile Liverpool finding out how tough Sunderland can be. They need to get Guehi in at all cost in Jan, cos it appears that defence is an ongoing sieve.

And Chelsea predictably fail to turn up against a ‘lesser’ team, after believing their own hype the last 2 games.

The defense are leaking too many goals, but the misfiring offense is the bigger difference from last season.

But Wirtz just shanked in a deflected equalizer so things are looking slightly rosier at Anfield. At this point a come-from-behind home draw against Sunderland feels like a positive result. It could have been worse.

Sunderland had a great late chance off a massive but accurate punt upfield from their keeper. Chiesa saved our bacon on that one after the keeper was beaten.

It’s incredible how rapidly the tactical fashion has turned back towards a longball game. Tiki taka is well and truly dead, and even counter pressing is endangered. Just put it in the ******* mixer or lump it up to the big man. Or maybe we’re just seeing the ‘big’ teams more openly adopting a form of football that never really went away (and is often effective).

Watching Forest beat an awful Wolves was a real dirge but a goal for Jesus, a win, three points and a clean sheet will do. Need to be much better at Everton on Saturday.

3 Points .. 5 Clear .. Good Night.
Good night other than our increasing numbers of walking wounded following each game.

Agreed.

Also agreed.

This is a concern of mine.

Absolutely agreed.

Very true.

At least you have a string of internationals warming the bench for when you do get an injury.

Not expecting much against United tonight. But we really need the points after teams around us won.
