FFP does not put an absolute limit on how much money a club can spend. It merely ties expenditure to revenue. So a rich owner can put money in directly, but still needs to generate revenue (sponsorship, ticket /merch sales, TV money) to balance that.

The big grift is that 'revenue' is coming in from 'sponsors' that are actually just part of the owners' own business interests. So it's not really revenue. Man City being the prime example.

I don't think Wrexham are engaging in that sort of skulduggery. So far they have risen rapidly by attracting a scale of investment that is way bigger than the leagues they play in - because of their celebrity owners' ability to promote the club and attract sponsorship. So while unusual, I don't think it is a violation of FFP at this point. Now, staying in the upper divisions long-term will be another matter. They'll need a lot more money.

American actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney own Wrexham and have been able to dump a ton of money into the club. Prolly not an actual billion though... but millions.
 
Some game this. PSG are ****ing brilliant to watch playing with such freedom.

In other news Jose going back to Real Madrid?

Not a bad prediction but for halftime! There are more goals in this game, things always loosen up after halftime when players get a bit more tired.

0-0 tomorrow (probably).

I never liked PSG, but I appreciate the way Luis Enrique built his team around such a young, exciting core with a general lack of Galactico ego. I feel like he's the only outside name I'd really advocate for the Man Utd job, but he's got such a great thing going where he is now.

Actually glad it's Bayern vs PSG in the semis: we have a second tantalizing leg to look forward to, with all remaining to play for.

I’m only slightly interested in the Atletico v Arsenal match tonight, the level is likely to be substantially below the PSG v Bayern tie. I’ll probably watch the highlights tomorrow morning.
 
Third one arguably more of a pen than the first two, and not a clear and obvious error for VAR to be meddling.

Refs bottled that one.

I thought Atletico looked the more likely to get a winning goal. They hit the woodwork a couple of times from half-chances. We will have to see how it goes in London next week.
 
If Arsenal created - and converted - more proper chances, real chances, during such a game, they wouldn't have to rely on penalties, real or manufactured.

And I write that as an Arsenal supporter.

Mikel Arteta's complaints strike me as the frustrated outbursts of a deeply stressed individual, one who hasn't acknowledged (let alone addressed) the exact same errors he keeps repeating, year after year, sorry imploding season after sorry imploding season.
 
Well, I don’t think a few set plays are going to cut it against PSG or Bayern. I like Arsenal but I feel they are going to get crushed in the UCL final, 2, 3 or even 4 nil.

Some interesting games in the Premiership today. Brentford v West Ham, Brentford could leapfrog into 6th place and the Europa League spot if they win while West Ham are trying to avoid relegation in a tight battle with Spurs. And Spurs are playing Villa away tomorrow evening. Arsenal have a home game against Fulham tonight, see if they can keep the pressure on Man City.
 
Whilst i think they'll lose if they get to the final. I don't think they'll be crushed. They already beat Bayern comprehensively at full strength. And PSG have leaked a few goals in this competition

And their defence is one of the best in Europe. There's a reason they remain undefeated in Europe. Conversely their attack is one of the worst which is why i think they'll lose
