These are my Current 4 Favorite Mac Apps and One that I don't ever want to go without again. Post your best four.

1. Quicksilver - I can't use my Mac without this Application anymore http://www.blacktree.com/

2. Teleport - This application allows me to control both my Macs from one keyboard. http://abyssoft.com/software/teleport/

3. Rapidostart This Application gives me access to an onscreen dock and when you use a two button mouse you can use one of the buttons to control it. I actually use the Logitech four button trackball it is awesome http://www.app4mac.com/action_freewares.lasso?-session=WEBS:4750023E076642A7C4JjO2D74FA0

4. Candybar This is a great application for customizing your dock and icons on your computer http://www.panic.com/candybar/

Now of course I have many more Applications that I use and like but these are some of the top ones, post your top four applications.

  1. Quicksilver
  2. Candybar
  3. Photoshop/Illustrator
  4. Azureus
  5. VLC
  6. NetNewsWire
  7. Adium
  8. Open Terminal Here
  9. MenuCalenderClock
  10. MS Office
Sorry for breaking the 4 app rule, but after trying to make the list I realized it's very difficult. Realistically this completely excludes the bundled apps which I use just as much, but I suppose thats a given.

1. iPhoto (can't live without it)
2. TextWrangler
3. Transmit
4. XCode (applescript studio :D)

ill label the less obvious ones

Apple

1. Safari
2. iTunes
3. Mail
4. Terminal - a command line interface to access Unix commands. youll find it in your Utilities folder.

Third Party

1. Toast - burn data discs to use on Macs and PCs, burn DVDs with single layer compression etc
2. Adium - open source IM client that supports many protocols.
3. Perian (more of a plug-in though) - QuickTime codecs for divx, xvid, flv, mkv
4. Photoshop

Sometimes obvious is best. These four are always open, so I guess that I couldn't live without them, or at least I wouldn't want to.

  1. Mail
  2. Safari
  3. iTunes
  4. Adium

Sure, I use Aperture and Photoshop CS3 and FCE and Acrobat Pro and many other powerful programs with great frequency, but doing without any of the listed four would be like doing without a telephone.

Hard to name just four...

Apple Apps

1. Safari
2. Mail
3. iTunes
4. iPhoto

(A major one is is Quicklook as well - I guess this does not count as an app though - I miss it going back to Tiger straight away).

3rd Party Apps

1. EyeTV
2. Remote Buddy
3. Navicat (can't live without this for work - not for fun!)
4. Flip4Mac / Perian - not an app per se.. but a must for everyone

1. Xcode and the Unix tools like gcc
2. Textmate (combined with CSSEdit and Cyberduck) to write web sites
3. Preview because I have a thousand PDFs on my disk
4. iWork (or Neooffice for those who can't buy iWork)

and I break the "4 apps" rule with:
5. Newsfire for RSS feeds
6. Things (in beta version) which is a good TODO list manager
7. Adium

i used more than 4!

anyway, everyday when I open my MB, these are the apps I run right after system start

1. adium for chatting... althoo rarely chat...
2. thunderbird ....email is very important
3. minefield....test it everyday, very happy
4. virtual desktops (open automatically)...much better than spaces implementation, IMHO
5. excel... work is work..

The most frequently used 5 (sorry, 4 wasn't nearly enough. I did the best I could.)

Firefox
Photoshop
iPhoto
iTunes
VLC

but there's many I can't do without.

Only 4 huh?

iCal
iChat
Safari
The Sims 2 (games count right?)

But when it comes down to it, I couldn't live without any of my programs. :p

doesnt everyone use Terminal?
