It may be a non-issue for you but it was what I was waiting on before I bought. I could put up with it being maybe slightly inferior to the stereo speakers on previous iPhones but for it to be immediately noticeable is a problem. Very disappointing and has made my mind up on getting the regular 17
Well, if you’re spending $800 on a phone you might as well spend a couple hundred more and get the pro and get all the good stuff like the vapor chamber the 12 GB of RAM, the full number of cores and all that. Are you really that cheap to not spend that 300 extra. Heck I’ve spent 300 on one night out in the bars.

The Pro is an extra ~30g though. I'm coming from a 144g phone so for me, weight is a big factor.

Besides, why spend extra if one wouldn't use all that "good stuff"?

the speaker will be a non-issue if Air is priced at 799, but for a $1000 phone, this is inexcusable.

I dont really know any person who actually uses the speaker. Most people I know have all got AirPods connected to iPhones when listening to anything or watching anything on the iPhone and those who don’t have AirPods connected they have the iPhones on vibrate when to alert them of a call. Myself included.

I am curious. What iPhone do you have currently and how many number of cores has it got. Also do you use the maximum cores on your current iPhone and does that improve your overall experience. Meaning do you notice the benefits of using the maximum cores?

Because in all honestly 90% of iPhone users probably don’t have a clue what all the good stuff is and how they should be using it. Most people I know will use an iPhone as an iPhone.

I wouldn't spend that much on a aluminum phone that is so efficient that it needs a vapor chamber

I will be honest with you. I have never heard of a Vapor chamber. However most folk who have no clue about it either will think it is the next must have thing in an iPhone and be saying to themselves in a Homer Simpson voice “must have Vapor chamber mm must have Vapor chamber” thinking it’s the next best must have thing they should have on an iPhone.

It’s not a new technology. My old 2015 gaming laptop had a vapour chamber. I’ve seen quite a few niche Android gaming phones with the same tech; quite surprised Apple implemented it into one of their phones!

Oh okay. I didn’t know that. So wow it has been around for a long time then. Thanks for the info 🙂

This is true. I’ve said before that there’s probably fewer than 1/10 people here who do anything particularly taxing with their devices.

The A19/A19 Pro is stupendously powerful; so much so that it can run full fat AAA console titles with the lowest level of power draw. The vast majority of people here do not play AAA games or engage in video editing; they’re just doing basic tasks which can be handled by an old iPhone 12.

Nothing wrong with wanting to upgrade but these people aren’t particularly interested in how powerful the newest SoC is because they aren’t going to notice a difference if they’ve upgraded in the last 4-5 years.

I used to believe this but am trading in my brick 16 pro for a 17. Older I get more I appreciate less bulk.

I've heard of them and I think you're 100% right that others will follow.

What a weird flex. Most people can’t throw around that much extra money on a whim and if you really don’t understand that then you’ve completely detached from reality.

Lol, true. It seems to me the primary use for most people is just Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and Instagram.

I'm sure it's perfectly fine and adequate when listening to it in your house in a quiet environment. And if you're listening to something outside in a noisy environment.... well then you should be on headphones and not one of those annoying people.
Headphones are kinda inconvenient in the shower.

that’s a shame but you’d get use to it in time.. although I just don’t see benefit to it especially if people are sticking cases on it.

What I’ve been seeing.

Air battery is pretty great. I think that keeps it square into the sides category for most people.

The Pro Max battery isn’t as impressive as it should be. (That’s my boat an I’m very disappointed basically zero improvement over the 16)

Speaker in the Air is pretty bad.

Air has the worst thermals but doesn’t seem to summer a big performance hit.

Not sure how you can call someone cheap when spending $800 on a device, but here we are. There are other reasons other than costs that would push someone away from a Pro Max, for me, the biggest being the physical size of the device.
