People who complain about Apple's iOS updates have obviously never dealt with Garmin and their updates. 😂 It seems like their pattern on every update is to fix one thing while breaking 3 others.
True. Also I never had any watchOS update that consistently crashed my watch or heard of such.

The Garmin fans seem to be quite tolerant. There even is a guy in their forum explaining why a crash is not bad.

On the cold water crash (diving watch, LOL) he wrote that he puts the watch before swimming into cold water, lets it crash and then on reboot everything is fine. :D

I have been wearing my F8 since the 1st charge 4 days ago. I used for workout of 1.5 hours daily, weekend golf, and daily walking. All these activities and sleep tracking, my battery is still 11 days left.....:D

I have an Epix pro 2 and a Fenix 8. the release was horrible. In addition to that the battery life is also horrible. That would be the only reason to buy the garmin. Better you are not listening music or better you should turn off the oxygen measurements and better you will not use dual band for gps. Same for always on display. If so you are still missing any LTE functionality. You will be lost in case of an emergency during sports. Better you bring your phone with you. What a crippled watch. Sorry

Show us photos of the 2 watches with current date face. Did you update all the software on F8?

The two Garmins I had (935 and Fenix 6) had way better battery life than my AW8 or Ultra 2, not even a comparison. I could get well over a week, sometimes close to two weeks, in between battery charges. I use my watches as golf watches, so I'm using 3-4 hours of GPS and screen time 3 to 4 days a week in addition to all the normal daily usage.

The problem I had is that with that kind of battery life, I didn't pay much attention to checking battery status or charging it, and got caught flat-footed a few times where I was heading to play golf or go for a run and noticed that I had <10% battery left - which wasn't enough to get me through, and Garmin watches don't fast charge. With the Apple Watch, I know I need to charge it every night so it's a habit and I'm always aware of where my battery % is - which may seem like an inconvenience, but it's actually more convenient to me because it makes it a routine. The AW8 can make it through a full day with a round of golf included, although it's usually pretty drained by the evening when it's time to charge; the Ultra 2 can make it a day and a half or so if I have a round of golf in there (easily 2 days without it), so I still top it off in the evening so it's fully charged for the next day.

Garmins have way better battery life because their display is primitive compared to an AW, and they have far fewer battery-consuming features than an AW does. They're good fitness watches (although their HRM sucks compared to an AW, IMO), but crude and severely crippled as a smartwatch compared to an AW. It's a tradeoff that is acceptable, even necessary, to a small niche group of extreme "ultra" athletes who need the long battery life to get through their training/competitions, but it's not a deal maker/breaker for the vast majority of people unless you just hate charging a watch that much.

For years I was one of the poor people who was obsessed with battery.

If after 24 hours I had 45% instead of 40%, it was already like a victory.

Then I stopped to think about why I was being so stupid.

Since then, I've been using the watch as much as possible, and if I get to 24 hours with 20%, it makes absolutely no difference to me. And even more so now with the Series 10, where 10 minutes on the charger gives you about 28% battery.

I enjoy my watches more than ever and I get the most out of them.

If I wanted a watch so I could forget about the battery, I would buy a Casio.

If I wanted a watch with absurd and useless sensors I would buy a Samsung.

If I wanted a watch that gave me scores even for how I went to the bathroom, I would buy a Garmin.

But only if you will not play any music. Or you turned of the oxygen sensor. And especially the always on display functionality. Multi band: turn it on always. Then you will see „how amazing“ the battery life is 😂🤣

Ok. Obviously you are not answering my questions. Always on display? Oxygen on? Are you playing music during your runs? Dual band on all the time? Yes? I will not believe you. Nope? I am sure. Because it’s a shame how garmin is faking. I will not ask about LTE 😂

If you want real battery life you should get a Suunto watch. That’s a beast in terms of battery life. 1/3 of the price of my garmin

All heath monitors and GPS are on (auto select, and can be changed to multi-bands base on activities (focus mode)), and AOD is off....HAPPY? Now show us your Garmin watches 🤣

Auto select! AOD Off. Oxygen? I believe off. What about playing music during a gps activity? And then I want to see the real world battery life: My measurement is less than 5 days! The fenix 8 is even more worse. Maybe based on the bad software.

I don't play music off the watch. AOD will reduce battery almost by half, if you need to turn it ON. AOD is cool. Moving my wrist to wake is for me, and during activities display is staying on. Oxygen is on during sleep tracking for now. Maybe when I'm starting to train more, I will set it on in the focus mode. My real world battery with what I'm doing right now is estimated 2 week. I do track workout 1 to 1.5 hours, 4 to 5 days a week, plus golfing on the weekend. Mine is 47mm Amoled version. You need to run 11.6x update, 11.67 is the latest. Also map was updated recently. I used Garmin express to update the map. So I'm running the latest map and software version.
