So far, all of the products look good.

I was hoping for a 16gb nano, but instead we got a 16gb iPod touch.

I'm going to have to play around with an iPod touch before plunking down the $400 for one.

And even though the new nano is fatter, it could fit a lot better in one's hand than the previous 2G nano.

...why wouldn't you just buy an iPhone if you want that? It is pretty much the same price. Only reason I can see is not wanting AT&T. Other than that, if you add those features to the iPod Touch, it is an iPhone without actual phone calls.

A few reasons really

1 - iPhone not available in the UK yet
2 - It's pretty expensive when you factor in the 2 year contract
3 - I've got a phone I'm happy with (an ancient 6310i but it works for me)

All I'm after is a device I could just have lying around to send a quick email or a chat message rather than having to boot up and login. Something similar to the Nokia N770 'Internet Tablet'.

Surprised to not see a Beatles on iTunes announcement. Maybe by the end of the year.

I already have most of their stuff on CD, but it would be nice to see them on digital. Same with AC/DC and Led Zeppelin.

Same here, I was planning to pick up a nano, now I'm not sure.

I can understand Apple needing to negotiate special permission to distribute files for purposes beyond the scope of the original uses described in their contracts with various content providers. So I can see how they might need to charge money to convert those songs into ringtones.

But outside of that, I have loads of license-unencumbered songs that I ripped from CDs - it doesn't make sense to me why it's impossible to use any of those songs as ringtones unless I resort to unauthorized hacks.

Probably because the record companies threatened to pull their material from iTunes if apple allowed it. Based on the record companies' track record, isn't that a likely possibility?

Man, I really want the Mail application on the Touch...it might be a make-or-break for me. What an oversight for such a simple thing to add.

Wow...just wow....$200 price drop two months after release, that is ridiculous. Has any other consumer electronic device dropped that quickly? That is a huge percent drop.

I seem to recall the original Microsoft X-Box going from something like $299 to $149 pretty quickly.

That would be the sh*t, I assume they deliberately crippled it to compare to the iPhone.

That would make a huge difference for me as well, since I find e-mail to be far more essential than websurfing when I'm on the road. Webmail is not really a substitute, in my opinion.
