awesome, Iphone price cut. I'll be getting one of these Soon.. real soon.

Ipods are great, to bad I have just purchased an 80g in March, I won't need one in a long time.

Now i'm just paitently waiting the store to open up so I can look at my order status of my Macbook Pro, and find out how close it is to me.....(I have no life)

so im screwed since i just got an 80gb in the mail, when i could have waited a few days and got a 160gb for the same price.

damn. its a lovehate relationship with apple right now.

You post at macrumors...and you bought just before an apple event that has been rumored for weeks in advance?

Many Of Us Don't Want An iPhone No Matter How Much RAM

I don't get why everyone is bitching about the iPod touch killing the iPhone's sales. I don't think it will.

You buy the iPhone if you want a phone, primarily... thus the contract. All phones have contracts. Am I the only one who isn't ignoring the fact that it's a Cellphone and that is suppose to be it's primary feature, thus.... the phone in it's name. o.o

I had no interest in it because it's a Phone... but I want the iPod Touch, since it's NOT a phone.

I'm pretty sure everyone else feels the same, including iPhone owners.
I couldn't agree more. While I have a 60GB 5G Classic iPod from the first round and the 160GB Classic is awesome, I want that 16GB iPod Touch for watching video from the web wherever I may be along with current videos and a little audio which I can keep on their easily in 16GB of space.

I don't get how other early adopters aren't mad about this price cut.

Nope, not mad at all. I wouldn't have waited two months even if Apple had pre-announced they were going to drop the price. I'm happy they're less expensive for the sake of those who can get them now and couldn't before.

I agree as well. Anyone who bought an iPhone simply because of the iPod features was wasting money. People bought the iPhone because it combined phone, camera, iPod, etc with a great touch interface. Lots of people wanted an iPhone without the phone and now they have it. Apple is not canabalizing itself, they are providing options and giving people what they have asked for.

hmm... apparently a bunch of us here are idiots. i didn't realize that... but then again... apparently i'm stupid.

Well I'm stupid too. I have a 1st gen Powerbook, my car is the first year of production, along with many other products I couldn't wait to get my hands on. I'm just saying it's not the smartest or cheapest way to go about things, and people should realize that before they buy. It's common sense. Prices will always go down as products age, and usually quality and features will go up. I see no sense in complaining about it.

Hopefully the new iPod Touch will get hacked as much as the iPhone. Add email, chat and an ssh client and I might be interested.

Just saw the nano. So the rumors were, sadly, correct. The first nano was beautiful, the second a bit of a step backward, but this thing... ugh.

Also, I'd like to request a moment of silence for the final passing of white from the iPod lineup. Just doesn't seem right somehow.

Agreed, all i want is email on the new ipod and i'm sold.. a nice wifi .mac client, not some over the internet .mac
Hopefully we'll see this soon

...why wouldn't you just buy an iPhone if you want that? It is pretty much the same price. Only reason I can see is not wanting AT&T. Other than that, if you add those features to the iPod Touch, it is an iPhone without actual phone calls.

Hello all,

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.

I am still not clear on the email aspect, though. My college offers Wifi at no charge. As such can I go on to the Wifi with the Touch and be able to check email?

Also, does nayone know if the Touch will have the Maps feature?

Thanks!

P.S.- It is nice to see the "Newton" come back to life. :D

Well, there'll be other ways to get tones on there. ;)
I can understand Apple needing to negotiate special permission to distribute files for purposes beyond the scope of the original uses described in their contracts with various content providers. So I can see how they might need to charge money to convert those songs into ringtones.

But outside of that, I have loads of license-unencumbered songs that I ripped from CDs - it doesn't make sense to me why it's impossible to use any of those songs as ringtones unless I resort to unauthorized hacks.

At the end of the day we're just talking about moving files into a particular folder on the Phone!

Well, if the new iPod Touch is using the same underlying software as the iPhone, then expect all the iPhone hacks (3rd party programs) to work on it as well.
