I would love to see this come down the pipe. Hope it does. Or at least one similar.

Nice . . . it's about time Apple starts moving away from a chick phone haha.

What do you mean, its about time Apple starts moving away, etc, etc. Apple is not moving away from what they are selling at the moment. No indications either they will go wider. This thread is just a another in a long list of threads from posters that want something different, not what Apple has in store for us. ;)

HTC did a darn good job with this phone! I will finally make the switch from iOS to Android when this comes out.

I will wait for the iPhone 5s. And at that time, I will pick one from between of them. The htc one looks quite good, I like it very much. But I also have faith in Apple.

Honestly, this (and the OS) looks better than anything we can expect from Apple in a larger phone:

This looks to more of what the iPhone 6 or whatever they are calling their next big screen phone should look like. I am good with a 4.5 or 4.7" screen however knowing Apple it will have to have it's very own style. We all know Apple doesn't copy designs from others? Right?

Agreed. I feel bad for those on the "S" cycle upgrade!

I'm sure the person who designed the mock-ups had some sort of inspiration. :p

No way! My 4S has all the software of the 5. If my employer didn't buy me a phone when I asked and I was on a contract I could wait for the 5S or the 6.

I wouldn't be to fond of holding onto a 4 if I didn't like the 5 due to its lack of updates. Unless you are saying you have to use your upgrade and settle for a phone you don't like immediately just to use the upgrade. Which would be strange.

Well, we can be pretty darn certain that the 5S is not going to be a game changer. It won't be larger, that's for sure. New internals and a warmed over OS again. The HTC One (m7) is in a whole 'nuther class. I hope you're not expecting much out of the 5S that we don't already have.

Maybe the 5S is this "cheap iPhone" everyone is talking about, and they unleash this monster 4.8-inch iPhone!

I can dream, right?

If you like the HTC One wait til' you hold the HTC Butterfly (only in Japan now).

All models so far all belong in chicks gucci bags and their small girly hands lol come on Apple give us more real estate or phone up an iPad double mini

I feel like having the screen so close to the sides without a side bezel would be very difficult and cause some concerns.

I am just like you. I will wait and see, bit leaning towards the HTC one if it's solidly built as I prefer the android os over ios.

I do like this rendering a lot. However I don't think the bezel will be that small as soon as the iPhone 6. I ould love it was though.

If they take any cues from the iPad Mini, the software will know the difference between a real touch and a accidental touch.

Very true, but I was thinking more of how it would be suspect to breaking easier. When in the pocket, adding more pressure to the screen since it doesn't have a bezel? Not sure, just thinking

I predict Apple will keep up their "smaller is better" mantra for their mainstream iPhone but just as they bowed to market pressure and released an iPad mini that quickly overtook iPad in sales, Apple will release a larger variant of the iPhone.

I don't expect it to catch on like the iPad mini did but if Apple can find a way to do a larger screen without app fragmentation, I think they will do a larger iPhone. One alternative is for them to do iPhone 5 apps with "letterboxing" and if a user opens an iPad app, it fills the screen making the larger iPhone a true "phablet".

I like the size of my iPhone 5 and don't mind owning both an iPad and iPhone. I predict there are a lot of people who will want the larger iPhone. If it's priced at $300, it shouldn't cannibalize iPad sales too badly.

Interesting, I didn't think about that. It could cause some problems.

Not going to happen. Just do a little reading on Tim Cooks statement when the iphone 5 was released. He said, and please read it carefully, " Apple wants to provide a phone that is easy to use with one hand" What part of that many do not understand? You want bigger, wider phones, leave now and go with the other offerings that are for sale and stop ranting on this forum about Apple not going bigger. Its not going to happen anytime soon if one does the home work in the last few years. It's Not Going To Happen. :D

4.8 inch iPhone

I would buy this in a heart beat.:)
Make it so Apple with the next iPhone release, please.

Well, they will (still) be providing a phone that is easy to use with one hand. The 5/S. Where does that say that they can't also provide a larger phone? A big 'ol company like Apple can't please more than one group?

Never say never. I agree, Apple wants to provide a phone that is easy to use in one hand, right now it ain't productive in my one hand. Many of us caveman hands are waiting on the sidelines for bigger, in some cases, is better. It Has To Happen. :D
