I'll be honest... I put my phone in my back pocket and sit on it all the time. I've done it with all the previous iPhones with no problem. I'm wondering how long my iPhone will last in my pocket. I have apple care+...

Anyone else knowingly sit on their phones? I do it bc I'm a mom... I prefer to not carry a purse when I have a diaper bag... And my diaper bag is not on my person most of the time. I need my hands free so my phone goes in my pocket.

Why not just put it in one of the front two pockets like the rest of us do? Putting a phone in your back pocket and sitting on it just doesn't make any sense. It's not going to bend, it's going to get smashed eventually. I'm not being bashful, it just doesn't seem logical.

Hahaha I thought I was the only one. I've sat on my iPhone 4 for two years and nothing. Yet somehow I always jump up when I realize I'm doing it to my 5. Between being longer, thinner, and made from weaker materials I don't think it's a good idea. On a couch? Maybe. But not a hard chair.

I don't like how it feels in my front pocket.

how big is your ass? :D

not only the iPhone 5,generally other else phones will be smash when you do it

Besides the various generations of iPhones, I've also had a galaxy note and a galaxy nexus. The note was too big for my back pocket but I did test sitting on it.. No problem. Same with the nexus. I don't doubt it can be an issue though. Logic would dictate such:).

I know I have been looking at a wristlet type thing, since I don't like always carrying a purse either. Of course, the one I'd like is $90 and I can't justify buying it right now, but it's an idea and keeps your hands free.

how about set it down somewhere else when you have to sit?

There isn't always a good spot to put it... Sitting down at the park... At a Gymboree class, in the back yard in the grass etc... If there's a good place to put it then I do take it out of my pocket.

I sat on my iPhone 4 many times. It isn't too difficult to tell how much stronger the 4/4s is when applying pressure to the screens. The fact that the glass is thicker, shorter in length and sits atop a band of steel means it'll will withstand more pressure. It's a fair assessment that the iPhone 5 is Morley likely to bend or smash.

Also, there was a thread not long ago about someone's bent iPhone 5. It appears that the chassis is quite weak where the volume rocker is since there is much less metal along those points.

I would avoid sitting on the phone when possible.

Put it in your front pocket. It doesn't matter how it feels there if it still works after it's being stored. Is very mild discomfort worth $50 twice over a two year period worth it to you? If so, then keep on putting it in your back pocket.

Every time I get on this forum, I question the sanity of society as a whole. Then I realize the general type of people that use this forum are either the OCD types or the careless types. But then there's the OP, who will knowingly inflict monetary damage on herself when it could quite easily be prevented.

My phones have always been in great shape. Im quite picky of their condition. I guess I can be over the top (don't like the term OCD since it is a real disorder that affects the quality of people's lives) and let my phone dictate my life, convenience, and comfort or I can see how long it works doing it my way.

So you think sitting ON it is a better alternative? Brilliant

Two words for you: breast pocket. Almost all my shirts have breast pockets. If I wear a shirt without one I keep my phone in my front pocket and always take it out before sitting down.

There's no issue there.

Oh no... I wouldn't let a cell phone sit that close to my breasts all day long. And I don't own a single shirt with a breast pocket.

It has worked so far. I take responsibility for whatever happens to the phone. I think leaving it there is better than on the floor with toddlers running everywhere... Or in the grass at the park... Etc.

Looks at thread.. you're a parent?

Or bra pocket. My Mom always sets her phone in her bra to the side. She has bigger boobs then most, so her bra has plenty of material ;)

My order of preference:
a) front pants pocket (right side if wearing Dockers or any loose fitting pants)
b) back pocket (right side if wearing denim jeans)
c) shirt pocket (if it has one)

Always by itself in any pocket it is in. No need to take out even if I sit if (a) or (c). Would definitely take out if (b). The wife is just like you, back jeans' pocket and sits without a care until I educated her of the recent postings about the new iP5 possibly bending due to softer casing compared to the iP4.

I guess it is okay, cause that is what AC+ is for.

Will this help? It's a pouch / case for the iPhone 5. You will have piece of mind using this. Here is the link:

Willfully putting undue stress on your device is NOT what AC+ is for.

I think the operative term is how toned are your buttocks - a soft flap of flesh could actually serve to protect a rigid object.:eek:

I'm so sorry.

That was my point. Grow a fatter ass to protect the phone. Plus, attract more guys while you are at it. :)
