No one was. I just noticed how you thought a device of which has a fully glassed front would bend.

The iPhone 5s that have bent thus far (at least on this site) have not had their screens break.

Can you bend yours and report back?

No. If it should break or bend in the line of duty I will report back. You aren't going to suck me into your sarcastic immature comments in the meantime.

Will this help? It's a pouch / case for the iPhone 5. You will have piece of mind using this. Here is the link:

I wore my 3G in a belt clip... But it's really hard for a woman to pull off without looking geeky. I think it works for men just fine though. I might reconsider a wristlet again.... It just seems like a pain compared to keeping it in my pocket.

It's not the times it's in your back pocket and you know about it. It's the time you slip your mind and "collapse" into the chair (after a hard day or because your having bonding time with your child.) then the force goes unchecked and uh oh.

Oh and about the Breast pocket comment. The same can apply to any organ. Your ovaries are at risk in your back pocket. Your tv gives off uber radiation. So does a lot of the radio waves generally in society.

You're the one who started a thread about it. If you don't want to read sarcastic, immature comments, get off of the internet.

Sarcasm and immaturity are not Internet requirements and I won't be pushed around by forum members. I didn't start a thread about either of those items. Stay out of my thread if you can't be respectful.

I'd aim for a holster maybe so you can have it clipped to you?

I have one myself (part of my Platinum case) and seems to work pretty good.

What is the platinum case?

Thanks to those who have offered reasonable suggestions or have shared what they do.

I never understood how people prefer to sit ON their phones, wallet, or even keys with knives etc on the key ring.

Just use your front pockets, it doesn't feel any different.

Phone in back pocket ?

And then people cry that they broke/lost/got stolen...

Of course you read where I wrote that I responsibility for anything that happens to my phone. Seems your comment is irrelevant. I wasn't asking for opinions.

Well to answer the actual question you were inquiring about.. "How long will it last"

Considering there are MANY variables that come into play. Such as your weight, what you sit on.. if you ever fell, etc... let me look into my magic 8 ball.

It will last 27 days, 18 hours, 23 mins, 33 seconds, and 38 milliseconds from the time of my post.

Thank you.

Putting it in a different pocket is the most logical choice IMO; I keep mine in my front pocket. You've said you don't like how it feels though, and the supposed safety issues and lack of supporting shirts with breast pockets rule that option out as well.

If the only reason you're ruling out a holster/belt pouch is because it looks geeky...I mean no offense, but how chic do you plan on looking hauling around a diaper bag and pushing a stroller? Personally, I find belt clips/cases uncomfortable, so I don't use them - but if looking geeky is your only hangup with them, I recommend just sucking it up and using one if you're looking to get the phone out of your back pocket.

A wristlet just seems like a silly solution, to be honest. I can't imagine a cell phone hanging off my wrist for any period of time. It could slip off, swing around like a pendulum and whack something, it's uncomfortable, and far dumber looking than a belt pouch as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not sure if there are any armband type cases that you can access the phone easily...may be something to look into, but it wouldn't be my cup of tea. I've also seen an iPhone belt buckle case somewhere. Probably not available for the 5 yet though, as I doubt there's a large market for them.

The only other option is to just continue carrying it in the back pocket...if all your previous phones have all been fine doing so, then maybe it's worth the gamble. Maybe it'll break. Maybe it'll be fine the whole time you own it. Like someone else mentioned, the variables of what you sit on, how quickly you sit, your weight/physique, placement of the pocket on the pants, etc. make it impossible to tell how safe it'll be in your back pocket.

I'll be honest... I put my phone in my back pocket and sit on it all the time. I've done it with all the previous iPhones with no problem. I'm wondering how long my iPhone will last in my pocket. I have apple care+...

Anyone else knowingly sit on their phones? I do it bc I'm a mom... I prefer to not carry a purse when I have a diaper bag... And my diaper bag is not on my person most of the time. I need my hands free so my phone goes in my pocket.

Honestly, this question cannot be answered by anyone but you. You have to objectively re-evaluate how you dress. I have my phone in my front jeans pocket when wearing casually, in my front dress pants, or my suit jacket inside pocket. What exactly is it that makes you uncomfortable having the phone in your front pocket? Assuming you're a women, you like to wear tight jeans, meaning it would be uncomfortable for you to have a phone in your front pocket especially when you're bending down to pick up your kid, etc. My observation may be incorrect, as only you can answer this question.

Some women I see have black dress pants and they have a phone in their front pocket. The dress pants aren't tight like jeans, they're thinner in material, and are more comfortable. Since suggestions from other members are unsatisfactory, are you willing to make some changes to your clothing? Changes like sizes, material, or design. Weight and body size also have an affect on how comfortable it becomes. Again, only you can answer this clearly.

Sitting on a wallet (guys) or a phone (girls) for a long term (as a habit) is not recommended. A problem it can cause is asymmetrical spinal alignment, meaning your spine wont be straight; your body has to readjust its weight balance for the extra bulk on one side of your back. A phone case adds to this affect.

For case, I use the Spigen brown leather case. It looks very professional. I suppose it could be chic too, in relation to leather purses (Coach). The phone fits tightly at first, but the leather will form to the iPhone and it will continue to fit well. It doesn't add much bulk. Yes, it's real leather, with the new leather smell.

Based on my wife's clothes, the front pockets on women's pants/ jeans are very small. I doubt most of hers would be large enough to fit the iPhone 5 in.

My wife and daughter both carry their dumb phones (touch screen sliders) in their back pockets and I do think that is why they never last the full 2 years.

Shirt pocket, purse or a clip on case would be my suggestion.

Trust me, hanging phones off your belt looks just as rediculous on a guy as a woman.

I've put my 4s in my back pocket plenty of times. Never bent or cracked the screen. Haven't done it with my 5 yet.

I usually only throw it in my back pocket when my hands are either full or need to be free, and my keys and other items are in my front two pockets.

I always try to make sure my iPhone is in its own pocket. No matter which pocket I use.

It's an inside coat pocket for me, i also front pockets on womens jeans are too small, i have never put any phone in my back pocket (i have phone insurance). If no coat, or a coat without the pocket i end up lugging a handbag (but my children are past the nappy bag stage!).

This is one of the reasons why i won't buy a galaxy s3. It won't fit upon my person comfortably and this should be a device i can grab and go and keep on me.

I know what the OP means about putting it down though, looking after children means you can end up forgetting where you put things (well i did and still do).

I remember google showing the stress tests they put the nexus one through. People still sat on them and broke them!

I wanna know how theres like a thousand videos of the iphone 5 being tortured to DEATH, and it comes out completely unscathed....Yet we keep getting threads on macrumors like....

"Sat on iphone, exploded....covered under applecare?"

"wife sneezed on iphone, scratched the anodized back plate up like sandpaper. will apple replaces?"

"iphone bent in half in my pocket, i didn't do anything to it i promise"

Seriously?

Word. Having anything hanging off your pants/belt is major hee-haw status.
