I agree with you. I can't understand why some people treat things like crap and then fall back on Applecare+ or insurance to fix what could have been easily prevented in the first place. The world is going to crap and this type of behavior is a part of the problem.

The iPhone 5 is so light and thin I can't see how anyone could complain about carrying it in a front pocket.

Are you a woman or a man? If you are a guy.. Then go to the store and try on some womens jeans and see how it sticks out awkwardly from your pocket and makes it uncomfy to walk. I preordered my phone and received it on launch day... There was no warning that the new phone was bendy.

Put it any where you want. Its your phone OP, but don't ever come back here someday, and complain that your phone has a slight bend or it got busted. For me, I got some common sense that tells me never put an expensive cell phone in the back pocked. ;)

Did you see where I posted before your post saying I take responsibility?!

No. If it should break or bend in the line of duty I will report back. You aren't going to suck me into your sarcastic immature comments in the meantime.

I wore my 3G in a belt clip... But it's really hard for a woman to pull off without looking geeky. I think it works for men just fine though. I might reconsider a wristlet again.... It just seems like a pain compared to keeping it in my pocket.

I'm a girl too. If I pocket my phone, it's a front pocket.

I advocate that you:

A) change to front pocket
B) use that case with the belt clip at someone posted here... It is nice.
C) resign yourself to the chance that at some point, your phone may bend/break from you sitting on it.

By the way, depending on the phone's position in the front pocket, it could still get bent. But I just like the front because it seems more secure. Plus, I keep my phone on vibrate. ;)

Will this help? It's a pouch / case for the iPhone 5. You will have piece of mind using this. Here is the link:

This is the exact same one I use which I purchased for my 4s which my ip5 fits in nicely albeit sticks out from the top a little but but not much.

I also use the one without belt clip too for when I put the phone in my front jeans pocket.

I've never put my phone in my back pocket due to obvious damage that could be caused when sitting down , an easy target for pick pockets and the issue of phones dropping down toilets tat have been in the back pocket.

My wife has an iphone and she's a size 2 and her jeans have teeny tiny front pockets. We also have two small children. Somehow, some way, she manages to not put the iphone in her back pocket and sit on it. It's either in her purse, in the console of the car, in her hand, on a table or counter, etc.

I do understand the difference. It's just I see right above the jeans belt, their fat starts to really hang out. My god. It makes me wonder how they fit in those in the morning.

I think if your phone can't be put in a jeans pocket, front or back, without it being a struggle, the phone is probably not the problem. Do they make women dress pants that can fit an iPhone? I can't seem to imagine why women's jeans front pocket are so uselessly small. Try something with more room.

The way it is now, they were it too close to their body, so the phone doesn't take the shape of their body when they bend down. If they put it on their back, it becomes tangent to their rear. That's just unfortunate.

Yeah that's where I start to cringe myself. Most women that I see around the office, their phone fits into the pockets and some don't have pockets at all so they carry it around in their hand, clutch, purse, or jacket.

Didn't I already say I wouldn't complain?

How are those tight jeans comfortable to wear I have no idea, especially all day long. Now I see a lot of women shamelessly showing off their layers of fat on their 2 sizes to small bras, jeans, shirts, etc., and some goes right up their... No offense but its ridiculous, and even uncomfortable for me as a guy to even see that.

Woah! Who made this a thread ranting about women's fashion? No one said my jeans are two sizes too tight. Have you ever noticed how the fit of women's jeans is different from men's?

If I were you, I'd get a cross-body purse. I completely understand your need to be hands free. However, I don't think its smart to sit on your iPhone. You just sling the purse over your head and its basically attached to your hip, you're not sitting on it, its not around your wrist, completely hands free. Plus, if you ever happen to go out without your child, you're not fishing through the diaperbag trying to find your license/money/insurance cards. Everything is right there in your bag.

I've thought about a cross-body purse like a small lesportsac... I just don't know that I will like it.

The iPhone is an amazing tool, where you put it shouldn't really matter. Using a hip pouch or leather pouch of some kind should not make you feel like a geek. I try myself not worry about or care what other people think I just usually do what's best for me. If other people see you with your iPhone on your hip nobody is going to really think anything about that. Nobody really should care. They might even ask you hey that is a cool looking pouch, where did you get that I want one. Either way I hope you find a solution to your problem soon, have a nice day.

Exactly, what ever happened to not caring about what others think of you? As long as you're confident with yourself, it doesn't matter how you carry your phone. People here in AZ still dress like cowboys in the rural parts, and they still carry their iPhones in a holster, right next to their loaded guns, spurs still on boots and all.....riding to saloon store on a horse! .....First time I discovered a horse and buggy pulling up to a red light next to me in the City of Maricopa, AZ.

But when the guy's phone rang, he pulled out an iPhone 4/4S from a holster. He is pretty far from "geeky"...and an iPhone isn't related anything to these guys' "Old West" fashion.

As long as you're dressed decently for the public, there isn't a care in the world on how you carry your phone. It is a PHONE for heaven's sake, an every day necessity nowadays.

OP, in regard to you saying that you shouldn't let a phone dictate your life, it doesn't. Changing where you store it doesn't dictate your life. Putting it in your front pocket doesn't constitute a change in how you live your life. However, losing a $50 deductible on AC+ could (I don't know or care to ask about your financial situation).

Well, OP. You don't want to:
  • Put in your pockets.
  • Put in your purse/diaper bag/clutch.
  • Hold it in your hand.
  • Wear it on your belt.
  • Put it in your undergarments.
  • Etc.
Short of suspending it from a bunch of helium-filled balloons I don't see any other choices.

I thought I was the only one.

I understand that some jeans have very small pockets. It's just my opinion, but if you're not going to carry a bag of some kind then a belt clip (not an option I'd choose) or front pockets are your only safe options.

If you take a phone back because for dents or being bent due to sitting on the phone it's probably not going to get replaced without some luck. That's just neglectful use and I wouldn't think any company would honor that. Apple can be surprisingly lenient but I wouldn't risk it in this case.

I really do hope you find a way to enjoy having your phone with you while maintaining some comfort and protection. I just can't think of any other way except a front pocket or purse/bag. Good luck!

Been sitting on my iP5 in back jeans pocket since day one and I'm no lightweight. No 'bendy'. Oh, and no scratches, wifi issues, purple flare, or anything else either but I'm sure that just means mine's a 'fluke'

I'll admit you're a braver man that I, I would not sit on my phone (on anything other than a couch at least), most of the surfaces encountered by my bum are pretty rigid though

Umm yes it does. If you carry your phone in a belt holster, you're a douche, bottom line.

Why not just put it in one of the front two pockets like the rest of us do? Putting a phone in your back pocket and sitting on it just doesn't make any sense. It's not going to bend, it's going to get smashed eventually. I'm not being bashful, it just doesn't seem logical.

The rest of us? Who exactly are you referring to? I carry my phone in my back pocket all the time but I don't sit on it...that's just stupid.

This is so ironic. Someone just came into my office, sits down, and cracks the back glass on their 4S. I asked them why they put their phone in their back pocket..."I always have"

I guess they won't anymore.
