Just like the Galaxy Note Series, the Apple flagship phone should represent the absolute best the company has to offer each year, most notably in features. The fact that Apple has not nearly been as aggressive as Samsung has in clearly demonstrating this every year for a long time (at least 6 years by my estimation) is probably due to many reasons. To be fair, Apple is working on a bunch of other stuff that do in fact look promising, like the ARM Silicon. They also work hard, although the results may vary to some, on iOS. And they have been successful in their current approach. But while iPhone flagships continue to be solid phones both in the short and long-term, the feature gap compared to the Note continues to grow. In my opinion, the 2020 Apple Flagship phones need the following essential features right now (with no price increase either):

True Multi-tasking (watch Flossy Carter's Note review for a quick demonstration)
Air Pods Pro in the box
Wireless Powershare
USB-C
Full 120 Hz display. (144 would be bonus points)
Full Apple Pencil support
Face ID and Touch ID standard
Super fast charger standard
Improved SIRI

This a good article by MacRumors that lets Apple know what they need to do as their flagship phones in particular have a serious feature gap problem compared to the Galaxy Note. Apple has been listening on their other products, most notably their iPads and computers.

They need to listen and execute here, too.

I don’t see anything on the list that I think would make my Apple usage any more efficient.

I have no interest in charging someone else’s devices nor do I want to have to babysit the devices during such, to make sure someone doesn’t try and use or run off with my device.

A stylus is another item that can be easily lost. I can type or dictate information I need faster than pulling out the stylus from another pocket or storage container.

I don’t want a device that is trying to keep up with Samsung. If I wanted that, I would have bought a Samsung device.

Your Android bias is showing, Dan.

They have, several times, and also quite comically accused others of bias too. That is a bit silly. Pretty sure things like 120hz screens will all of a sudden be the best thing ever once they're on the iPhone platform.

Our docks have dual monitors. Works just fine. Our work phones are cert-auth'd on to the network. Sounds like you won't have a use for Apple version when that makes it out of the blocks too.
Would be useful, not a deal breaker though. Our phones are BYOB, which is why they are not certified for network use.

Having owned a Note 3, Note 4, the ill fated Note 7, and the Note 8, I really miss the pen.
Doing quick markup on a screenshot or just taking a quick note without having to open anything was really nice.
You can do a quick markup on an iPhone by clicking into the thumbnail of the screenshot. It opens in markup mode you can share or save from there. I usually use Siri for notes. Just say take a note or add a note saying “whatever”. Reminders like, remind me to call Barbara Mason when I get to work is incredibly powerful because it will not only pull the reminder but if the person is in your contacts you only have to click the notification to call them.

Its always the case, anytime the iPhone finally gets features other phones have had a while its the greatest thing ever

Just look at ios 14 and PIP.

120Hz refresh: Yes.

Powershare: Gimmick. Don't need it, don't need the battery being run down by it.

Multitasking: Yes, but done in an Apple way - not the clunky method used by Samsung.

S-Pen: No thanks.

DEX: Handoff and Continuity already do this way better.

Handoff requires two computers, DEX needs just one (the smartphone). Big difference.

lmultitasking on android is great there is nothing clunky about it. Got to be one of the best features on android....spilt screen and pop up windows plus dex is what you call real multitasking.

The closest apple has is slide over on the iPad but for me not enough apps are supported. IPad should have at least 3 apps to be used side by side but guess we have to wait a while for that as well.

My major problem with Samsung is their sparce "meaning few" softwear upgrades, and the drop of support for two year old phones and tablets.

Two year old phones? Samsung have committed to 3 years of software support and 4 years of security updates. While not as good as apple it’s still a decent amount of updates.

It's been years since i had my Samsung phone, but it was then two years, but even then there were few upgrades i feel Apple is much better on both warranty and upgrades to softwear.
Trust me Samsung is #1 hard to contact with any warranty problem #2 Samsung will fight you hard to keep from fixing anything even when it's a quality problem they know is theirs #3 even when they except a return for fixing it's not fixed and fails again.
After a Samsung tablet was fixed two times and still failed, they replaced it but with a tablet $100 cheaper then the one i had bought, that was it with Samsung take it or get nothing.
I took it and it's now just in a box never used, i quickly bought an Apple iPad and it's never had any problems.
Trust me again Friends don't let friends buy Samsung products.

Alot has changed over the years with samsung and android overall

Support all depends on your region. Some people have issues with apple support as well. Some don't have an apple store for hours near them. Some have one like 20 mins away. All depends on the location

I have had zero issues with support from apple just like Samsung have been very good when I've needed support for them

Certainly can't say its bad based off somebody's location as it does vary from location

On another Samsung product.
I bought a Samsung high end gas Dryer costing close to $900 dollars had to run it for an hour to get even a small load dry, rollers failed in two years cost me $300 dollars to get repaired, fix again failed in one year repair shop was going to stand behind it.
I just wrote it all off went out bought a Whirlpool gas dryer around $450 it's such a much better dryer gets thing dry in half and hour or less.
If you google you will find i was not the only one with Samsung dryers and washers who have had them fail.

You don't like them from your lack of understanding of these technologies.

Powershare is for charging accessories like earbuds, smartwatch, etc. so you don't have bring power brick chargers for those. Makes perfect sense.

Multitasking is more primitive and limited on iPadOS and non-existent on iOS.

DeX provides a properly scaled desktop home screen when connected to an external monitor. Connect an iPad Pro to an external monitor without DeX and you get a blown up tablet home screen like Samsung had eight years ago.

It has been a few years since I've owned a Note, but I loved having a stylus for quick note taking. First off, the stylus is inside the phone, and can be pulled out and used without turning on the device in a second or so. But more importantly, there is something more personal about jotting down notes with a pen when talking to someone else. You can keep your eyes up. You never have to say "wait a second" as you try to correct your autocorrected mistakes and such. Having your phone close at hand is like having your phone AND a little notebook close at hand.

Not everyone's life and needs are the same, and I don't expect my use case would apply to everyone. I'm just saying that I loved having it available at work for meetings, hallway conversations, or whenever I needed to jot down a little bit of information.

I use an Apple Pencil with my iPad Pro. I don’t see the same work flow use with my phone usage. Iit would end up getting lost, broken, or left behind.

I have no doubt it would work for many people if it came to the iPhone. I just don’t see myself in that group.

Everyone is different. For me, it was just second nature to slip the pen back in when I was done.

I just picked up a Moto G Stylus. I didn't know this phone even existed.

It's the same physical size and screen size as the iPhone 11 Pro Max, but it also has a stylus. I assume the resolution isn't as good, but honestly I don't care. It has a stylus.

I'd gladly pay $2,000 for an iPhone with a real stylus. It's probably the only thing I'd buy a new iPhone for.

So I can't excuse Apple on this anymore. This is a $300 phone. And it has the one feature Apple won't touch.

Objectivity is really hard when it comes to your fave tech isn't it. I'm much the same. Everyone obviously has a bias and that bias gets them the product that they're using.

I'm fortunate enough to be able to use pretty much anything I like. I swap phones freely between the iPhones (and mostly) Samsung units usually with each refresh, really to see what they're about. I like tech - why wouldn't I? My preferences change too - I loved the 11 when I first got it, then gave the S20 Ultra a go and ended up staying with that, now using the Note. The 11 still gets used but...mainly for Apple CarPlay as my M2 Comp doesn't support Android Auto or whatever it's called. Stuff that stops me going back to the iPhone are simple things like the 120Hz screen - it's glorious. You'd not think it such a big deal but I notice it a lot when I use a 60hz screen.

Stuff like DeX has been incredibly useful. I don't miss hand-off at all, as a lot of the bits I did used to use work anyway and in a very similar way even without DeX.

I genuinely find it interesting that people write off all these extra features assuming they're frivolous - or in the case of DeX dismiss it as they have no clear understanding of what it actually does. Why wouldn't you want the option of more capability...? Take Powershare - don't like it/don't want it - don't use it. It isn't rocket science. At the minute you don't have any choice on the iPhone. Not needing something when you don't have it is a relatively normal thing isn't it? Cos if you needed it you'd go get a device with it.

Once you've had access to such tech though - whether it's powershare, 120Hz, DeX and perhaps stylus type setups in the note - you can miss them in other products.

C'est la vie.
