I miss when the startup chord was F# major instead of F major. :(

Anyway, I found it to be a disturbingly real film. This is because if we continue on our current path, we could end up in a similar situation in the future. I'm not sure if its a movie that I can watch again, it just really upset me because all I could focus on was the trash laden earth and all of those people on that ship. That's really fodder for a thread in the subforum but still, that's my thoughts on the movie.

Edit: G major in the old Quadra AV. That's the one I was looking for.

Just saw it on Fri. I loved it! Pixar did an amazing job. You forget that the movie is CGI. The emotion they created without much dialog is amazing. Im using a pic as my Desktop.

Is that not the cutest Robot you've ever seen?

For anyone interested, I uploaded a zip file with 47 something high-res images from the movie here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/l1rfon

And for the record Im 26, and went to see it with 2 other 26yr olds, and 1 23yr old, and we all loved it! So it's NOT just a kids movie...

Wall-e

EDIT::: I posted this as a thread earlier and didn't see this thread when I searched WALL-E.
Sorry for the information that EVERYONE on here already knows. :p

I just got back from watching WALL-E, and let me tell you... It was amazing!!
Seriously..
I never thought that a "kid" movie would hold my attention.

So you may be asking.. "Why is he posting this in the Mac OS X thread."

Well, if you have seen it already, then you may have noticed the OBVIOUS Apple/Mac references.

Such as when WALL-E started up, the Mac chime hummed.
I was cracking up!
Also, with WALL-E's iPod.

For something that you didn't know if you didn't do any research, EVE (The white Robot) was designed by Jonathan Ive.
You can certainly tell as well with the white Macbook look.. Just way more futuristic.

I'm hoping that some of the features that were in EVE, will be implanted into the future Mac's.
Under her skin, there was lights that would fade in when charging, etc.
They hid when not in use.
It would be very cool to have such a thing on a Macbook of some sort.

You can get a glimpse of the lights there.

Also, there are tons of Leopard like space scapes in the movie.
It's full of them.

With Steve on the board at Pixar, he sure knows how to get his products out there.

Just thought I would share.

WALL-E makes the Mac startup sound!

Took my kids to it (almost 3 and almost 5). They didn't last too well for some reason. They loved Horton Hears a Who.

Saw this down at GAME so thought I might as well snap a pic!

I am continually amazed by this film. Pixar has done it again!

I will be pre-ordering it, and getting a Wall-E figurine for my desk :p

What a movie!

Just got back from the premiere at the Tuchinski theatre in Amsterdam. I was blown away by the movies ability to convey emotion through CGI. I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes....this is easily the best Pixar movie I've seen to date!

Got a small goody bag with some Wall-E stuff in it and a DVD of Pixars's short films too, just a shame I bought most of them off iTunes when I got my iPod Touch! ;)

Just watched it, TBH I think it was OK but a bit disappointing.

I did notice that the "Foregn <whatever it was>" voice was a OS X voice, Fred, and the autopilot voice was Alex (only in Leopard). Of corse I also liked it when he done the OS X boot sound!!! :)

I just saw WALL-E with my wife and 4-year old. It was fantastic. It is by far Pixar's best, and as mentioned filled with many Apple references and Easter Eggs.

But our theater showed it in DLP (Digital Projection). Wow. The quality and the colors were phenomenal. If you can see it on a digital projector screen, make the effort. It was worth it.
Actually I thought the DLP was not very good. I could see lots of artifacts, not from compression surprisingly, but problems in any area with thinner details or on sharp edges of objects, especially with the roach's antennae. It was enough to drive me crazy and ask for the random blot on the screen since those don't sit there and stay on camera the whole scene. The movie was great, but the digital projection sucked.

I'm late, I know - but I finally saw the movie at the theatre this afternoon.

Pixar is getting much better all the time with the rendering and animation, and their ability to develop a character is top-notch. I thought the movie was sweet, had a good message and was funny - subtle humour that you can watch without getting sick of it.

The opening short with the magician was hysterical as well! I haven't laughed so hard in ages..

Definitely a buyer for my DVD collection when it comes out.

Already got tix for the 8:45am showing tomorrow at the new theaters by Cardinals Stadium. My one movie per 2.5 years!

Can't believe they actually want $5 to see it though. Used to see two first-run, newsreel, cartoons, and coming attractions, all from the balcony for sixty cents. The change from a buck would get popcorn & a Coke.

And yes, I did used to walk three miles to school every day. Uphill. Both ways. :p

What theater are you going to that has tickets for $5? Man, I went to a theater where non-student tickets were $12.50! Most of the time I spend ten bucks on a movie, not counting if I get some Coke (except when I'm at the Ritz. $6.50 with a student ID rules!).

Oh yeah, I should talk about the movie. Well, I saw it about a week or two after it came out with my girlfriend. I loved it! It was so sweet, amazing, funny, a joy to look at (the animation is so in depth), plus the Apple jokes were funny (though my girlfriend didn't get them, not being much of a Mac person). About a week ago when I was downtown with my family cleaning out my dead uncle's apartment, my parents went home and me and my brother went to the theater (where the tickets are $12.50 w/o ID). Luckily, the clerk could tell how young we were, so it was only nine bucks. Anyway, my brother loved it, and he actually got the Apple jokes, he and I couldn't stop laughing the first time Wall-E's solar battery was fully charged the first time (for those who haven't seen it, I won't spoil it, but for those who have, you know what I'm talking about). He came out of the theater saying it was amazing and that he loved it. Even though it was the second time I had seen it, it was just as enjoyable as the first. I definitely recommend seeing it in theaters; it just looks better.

Maybe because the motion isn't naturalistic. If that's the reason, then you DEFINITELY want to see this. You forget all about CG in a hurry. It looks filmed, as opposed to generated. There's a sequence in a grocery store that looks hand-held, and the use of focal distance and motion blurs in a very real manner was so good you don't even notice them until you think about it.

also did you notice how the landing laser distorts the "optics" of the "camera"? nice touch.
