Oh
happylittlemac, silly silly you. Firstly the film is far more "adult" that you give it credit and secondly I suggest you put aside your paranoia and political correctness. Just because an adult sees a kids movie, doesn't make them a pedophile. There is no causality between that at all and it's a parent's duty to protect their children from whatever is out there. And one of the main issues that is presented in Stanton's last movie,
Finding Nemo is that "
fear denies a good father from being one" and when you are absorbed in correcting your children and trying to protect them from everything, you miss out on being
"present" with your child. A complex lesson that a lot of people need to learn, all from a
"kids movie" so-called. And whatever theatre isn't allowing them in is clearly in violation of the law. Since when is ageism acceptable but racism, sexism, and homophobia not?
Anyway, I absolutely loved the film. For kids there's a good amount of cutesy characters and humor, but for the adults there's a simple love story and more complex issues like consumerism, pollution, and much more in the subtext.
I put together a little review if you would like to check it out.
