The 5G in my area is faster than my home internet. It’s much faster than LTE.

Here’s my 5Ge speeds. Anyone getting faster on 5G?

I agree that the extra RAM and the better ram management in iOS 14/A14 is making a big difference. Even in the regular iPhone 12 this seems to be much improved over the 11 series phones.

I think the RAM defiantly helps, along with the processor.
I use Snapseed a lot for photo editing and it would take forever to open images from my large photo library and then the app booted itself down the more you used it (thanks Google - they really haven't updated it for several years).

But with the 12 Max Pro, things are waaaaaay quicker!

Out of curiosity, why do you say that? What benefits are you getting from 5G? In this area, at least, right now 5G speeds are comparable to LTE speeds and the 5G radio uses more power than the LTE radio, so I can get the same speed with less battery life with 5G.

And even if 5G did offer higher speed I’m not sure how beneficial that would be. LTE speeds are more than enough for streaming 4K video and downloading apps and browsing the web.

I’m sure that as technology changes and improves 5G will become a critical feature, but right now it really seems like more hype and marketing than anything with actual tangible benefits.
Have to agree 5G is more hype than useful at this point in time. Apple ran their iPhone promotion on 5G then they backed off

For me, in order, compared to the 11 Pro Max:
- RAM - huge improvement all around
- the Dolby Vision HDR video is stunning
- the massively improved ultra wide camera with lens correction, deep fusion and night mode means it’s actually useable now in my opinion as compared to the 11 Pro Max where I rarely used it
- being able to take portrait mode photos in lower light due to lidar, much faster focus in general as well - could care less about AR, but for photography purposes, it’s amazing
- love the design

Why is it when people choose not to purchase a device they write paragraphs about why they don’t need the new features?

Glad the RAM is making a difference, I think it’s one of the things Apple really needed to upgrade in the 11 series, they should have made the 11 Pros with 6GB RAM.

No question, it’s the RAM. It’s incredibly noticeable how apps stay in memory so much longer than they did on any previous-gen phone.

For my uses, this has been the #1 best thing.

Anyone else? #1 favorite feature as compared to the 11 Pro Max?
Flat edges. No question.

Compared to the 11 Pro, for me, the call quality is better. I haven’t had this type of call quality since the iPhone X on Verizon which coincidentally had the Qualcomm modem just like this one.

I was simply trying to explain the thought process behind my question. Originally someone had said that 5G was their favorite iPhone 12 feature and I questioned why they would choose that, because I don’t see 5G as being a significant improvement right now and I explained why. I asked if they did see any tangible benefits to 5G that I was missing.

I held my buddy’s 12 Pro and it felt much better than my 11 Pro, even tho it’s slightly bigger. The flat edge design is really nice. I’m still holding out for next year as I think the iPhones will get 120Hz display and 5G will mature even more. The 12 Pro to 11 Pro still seems like a much smaller step than the XS to 11 Pro was.

I think the 11 Pro Max felt better in your hands. The 12 also looks thicker, though I know it isn't. Same is true for the iPads btw. I don't care much for the new boxy design. It also bends easier. Regarding the 12, I think swiping up from the bottom feels worse, like scraping over the edge.
