I’m right with you. In my opinion the 12 Pro Max with not ready for prime time 5G and the 11 Pro Max are pretty much the same phone. For everyone who doesn’t have an 11 Pro Max the phone is an amazing upgrade.

I haven’t decide for sure yet but I’m leaning on keeping my 11 Pro Max and sending back the 12 Pro Max. Next year is the huge upgrade anyway. Probably no notch, a 120hZ refresh rate, and a fingerprint sensor under the screen. Plus a more modern 5G modem. That’ll be the iPhone to keep for 2 years plus.
No changes to the notch until the next redesign. Most likely in 3 years time.

Out of curiosity, why do you say that? What benefits are you getting from 5G? In this area, at least, right now 5G speeds are comparable to LTE speeds and the 5G radio uses more power than the LTE radio, so I can get the same speed with less battery life with 5G.

And even if 5G did offer higher speed I’m not sure how beneficial that would be. LTE speeds are more than enough for streaming 4K video and downloading apps and browsing the web.

I’m sure that as technology changes and improves 5G will become a critical feature, but right now it really seems like more hype and marketing than anything with actual tangible benefits.
I totally agree, 4G is totally capable speeds for streaming 4K, maybe not so downloading.. but hey, nothing wrong with having a bit of patience! I think we’ll see some actual benefits when it comes to game streaming

That's good to hear! I set mine up Friday evening and had it charging all night. Got up Saturday at 10:45 and by 5:00 I was at 66%. Granted I was using the phone a LOT but that still seemed like a quicker drain than even my XS Max. I was hoping it was because of indexing.
I think this is a big factor. People buy a new shiny phone so they use it a lot then are confused as to why the battery runs down. I'm sure indexing and if you're downtown near mmWave 5G also plays a factor. What else I noticed is your cell coverage at your location or more precisely a lack of coverage makes a difference in battery life. I went from Verizon to T-mobile on my old XS Max and noticed my phone took a huge battery hit.

IMO it's silly to expect a big change every year when it comes to phones. That's why many people say two years is a sweet spot where you actually have a difference. I'm coming from the XS Max and I love the 12 Pro Max. I will say one thing I like about the 12 Pro Max over previous models to include the 11 is that Otterbox design. It feels so much slimmer in my hand and is easier to hold. Of course if you don't use an Otterbox this doesn't mean anything.

No question, it’s the RAM. It’s incredibly noticeable how apps stay in memory so much longer than they did on any previous-gen phone.

For my uses, this has been the #1 best thing.

Anyone else? #1 favorite feature as compared to the 11 Pro Max?
i have my one on the 13 and i notice big defends the bill went up

For me its' been
speedy
camera
and in general ram

I am surprised and impressed. Good game apple

For me:
The feel can't explain it but I prefer the squared off edges same as my iPad Pro somehow seems right in my hand?!?
5G I'm getting at best 500mbps+ No MMwave here, that's on par with ISP's mid range offering here but in a phone😲
Feels rock solid, just feels like there no give if you bend it, not going to try!

There’s no question the 11 Pro Max is quicker even in day-to-day tasks. Just smoother, less hitching or micro-stuttering.

I’m coming from an 8+, so this entire thing feels like it’s from the future.

Also, I heard people talking about how 5G isn’t a huge deal unless it’s mm-wave, but I’m getting 4x speeds on TMo v. LTE previously. I’m blown away by how fast things download and load.

Also, it’s the exact same size as the 8+, but I wasn’t prepared for how much the added screen real estate changes how you hold / use the phone.
Know the feeling, I just upgraded from a iPhone 7 Plus to the 12 pro max, def. feels like the future 😂

I certainly do agree with that. The Max is a big phone but the Otterbox makes it much smaller in the hand.
