Oh no!!!! Why did they have to do a remake of this series? The original was great, there was no need to mess around with it.

This is news to me also, I didn't know it was already done!!!

There was an original series?

Last Wed, things got really interesting, that is if you are into it. ;)

It has really gotten interesting. I am hoping this all wasn't setup to just get the Mexican cop back.

The deal with the guns is really going to get interesting. I can see that character being drug back across the border and ending up on a pillar with a few knives sticking out of him.

I'm confused. Now that we know who the bad guy is, and his issue is revenge, what does this have to do with the dead judge found on the bridge? Or are there two bad guys?

I have two episodes in the que right now. I am hoping there is more to this other then just another revenge scenario. But from the looks of it, it sounds like it could be.

I can't remember, but they did say the judge was the one who heard the case no? When she was putting all the pieces together?

I'm starting to wonder if (and where) this show has anywhere to go for a second season. Through the grapevine I've heard that there will be a second season for the original version, so I assume it could always follow that. I don't know if they would be able, or have the time, to do so, however.

There do seem to be a lot of plot threads that only seem superficially related to the main story. I suppose those arcs could be developed more, but whether they could hold a show together is something I don't have much faith about.

Spoiler

I've not seen the Season 1 finale. I'll downgrade my enthusiasm by saying this show is not great, but watchable because of the interesting characters.

The entire idea behind the symbolism of the dead body on the Bridge composed of a U.S. judge and a prostitute from Mexico, a killer who bemoans women being abused across the border and U.S. ambivalence, while he is the one who has been murdering them? I believe this is just a smoke screen for a revenge agenda based on the death of his wife and child, but it seems overly convoluted or it's just the actions of crazy person, no real logic needs to be applied. For a crime thriller, I don't consider this kind of plot to be brilliant, just messy. ;)

The season finale was rather low key...

As per my previous post, the story is messy, possibly weak, unless the body on the bridge was left by someone other than Kenneth Hastings, the former FBI agent who lost his wife and son in a car accident on the bridge. Regardless, there is enough character interest (Diane Kruger, Demian Bichir, and Ted Levine) there to have me check in on this series next season, but I can't unconditionally recommend it.

Just finished the series. I thought the last two episodes were ok. I can see where they are going on a couple different story fronts.

I think it will be interesting to see how or if they will get the FBI guy out of jail. However I am also worried they will play this out TOO long and drag it out.

I like the widow's roll as she is slowly, or rather quickly becoming a badass in her own right. Not to mention the new character we were introduced to at the super market.

I will play along and watch to see how it goes next season.

But I agree, the whole prostitute and judge scenario etc.

Oh, almost forgot we still have the serial killer/cops who like to party with the girls story line coming to the for front also. Makes me wonder how deep and how high up this one goes also!

All good reasons to keep watching. :)

Ironically this isn't available on DVD or Blu-Ray but I can buy off iTunes. LOL. I plan to download this and watch away.

Good luck! It's not a perfect show by far and it may or may not grab you. Some say Diane Kruger acts like a robot, but I think that is her or the show's interpretation of a person suffering from Asperger's syndrome.

It is a good show. It took me a while to warm up to Diane's character. To me she was almost over the top in the beginning, but that quickly fades by episode three or four.

Good series and the way they left it open I am hoping it does come back for a second season!

I think that I will relate to Sonya Cross' situation since I have a stepson who has Asperger's syndrome. Autism being portrayed in a mainstream series will be fascinating.

Talk about another character that has driven me nuts!!! Ugh.....

I like Carrie, however I have a hard time seeing her be allowed to continue in the service of the CIA as a field agent. Although Sal recognizes her value, she's smart, but too head strong in operations and her disobeying of orders, the way she does when she feels strongly about an issue, I don't see it. Like the time they had to shoot her, lol. :)

The Bridge (FX)

I'm curious if anyone is watching season 2 of The Bridge who also watched season 1, and what you think of the new season?

For those of you who aren't familiar with it, the show is set in El Paso TX and Juarez, Mexico, and deals with the crime, murder, and corruption in Juarez and the spillover (across "the bridge") into El Paso. The main characters are the lead detective in Juarez and the lead detective in El Paso as they team up to solve the cases.

I thought season 1 was fantastic—dark, violent (without being over-the-top), and interesting. However, I'm greatly disappointed in season 2 so far, almost to the point where I've decided to give up. I find that season 2 is just downright boring—the new story just isn't compelling and isn't moving fast enough; more meandering. It's almost like they are trying to copy True Detective (which was one of the best new shows in a long time), but have fallen way short—they are copying the slow pace of it without the excellent writing and superb acting.

Curious on other's thoughts. I may give it 1 more week before I'm out.

Caught up with the first four episodes of Season 2. The show has morphed into more of a traditional crime drama, but it actually seems more stable than the first season. I also like the corruption issues and the perspective the Mexican detective brings to the table. So far so good! :)

Watched up the starting four episodes and most of the fifth one (via Comcast Xfinity) and it's very good. I never have seen the first season but so far the second season is quite suspenseful and that Eleanor Nacht character is scaring me quite a bit.
