man im jelous....

i want the free MMS and video :(

i do have 1000 canadian LD though :D and 550 mins...otherwise our plans are identical in specs and price.

I told the rep that I am having a baby in Oct (first time dad!) and wanted to send the MMS out to people. She changed teh My5 local Talk to that My5 talk text mms video.

I found that if you scream and rant you dont get anything, you just make the other person pissed off, so they are less inclined to help you out. Just wait for them to screw up and just play the frustrated customer angle and I was looking at the competition. They would rather keep you than lose you. I find that Telus and Bell are worse than Rogers. It's the old saying, "the lesser of the evils"

Yup. I used to work in customer service. Within the realm of the product/service you are dealing with them over there is, quite literally, no limit to how obstructive a CSR can get after you yell at them.

With Fido I had:

100 anytime minutes
7PM unlimited evenings + weekends
Unlimited text
Who Called, Visual Voicemail, Call Display
6GB Data
that was clocking in at about $75 after tax every month

Then I called them today and here's what I got:

200 anytime minutes
5PM unlimited evenings + weekends
2500 Text
Visual Voicemail, Call Display
6GB Data
told them to cancel WhoCalled
$57.50 plus taxes a month.

Pretty happy with that considering I've only been with them for one year. I know it's not the greatest but it's better than what I had before.
I never go over 200 text messages a month as I default to WhatsApp anyway so losing unlimited for 2500 was fine.

What angle did you play to get that? I'm with Fido too, haven't been with them a year yet, and I'm on the regular ol' $65/month iPhone plan. I was on a plan similar to your original one up until a month or two ago. The more I read, the more I feel like I'm getting screwed paying that much for what I get.

And I won't stand for it any longer. Now all I need is a tried and true reason, other than that I'm getting a comparatively lacklustre deal when compared to a group of people I don't know.

Do you think its possible to get these deals (from Rogers) if you still have a couple years on your contract :s

(My account has been with Rogers for 9 years)

oh ya rogers is real easy! I just called in tonight and had some credits added. Shoot me a PM and ill tell you a secret :)

woah...how did you manage to get that deal:eek:
my current plan is similar to your old one

I'm paying $75 with taxes
150 anytime minutes
after 7PM unilmited evenings/weekends
no visual voice mail, who called, call/name display
6GB Data and 125 text messaging I think
I've been with them for 4 years now... maybe I should give them a call
hopefully I can get something like yours

Call Fido and ask for the retentions department and say you got an offer from a competetor and see what they can do to keep you. Negotiate from there.

No iPhone from Rogers for Several Weeks?

Sébastien Bouchard, a spokesperson for Rogers Communications, said Rogers and Fido received one shipment, which sold out on the first day, and the company expects a new shipment in “several weeks.”

Now what the heck am I suppose to do with no Apple store near me and of course buying as contract so I can't even pay $100 more because my cost only like $270 not 700 lol.. DAMN!

Clearly this is an Apple issue, not a Rogers issue. Rogers has more users with people upgrading iphones than Bell or Telus. Use this as a negotiating tool for your plan. Tell Rogers you are going to go to someone else and get some freebies from Rogers. I know it doesnt help now, but it will with your monthly bill!

After cruising RedFlagDeals and reading about all the deals people got I figured I might as well try.

I called into Fido and had to deal with their customer service lackey at first, told him I wasn't happy with my plan. I had to explain to him several times that people out there were getting better deals than me with similar features.

He then transferred me to Customer Relations (not Retentions strangely enough.. guessing they're the same though) and Anna was really snappy with me.

She assumed I wanted to leave but I told her Rogers and Bell customers were getting better deals with similar packages.

She got a bit agitated and started telling me to forget about other people and asked me what I wanted. I told her other people were getting:

200 minutes + 6gb data + iphone value pack + 2500 sms etc; for $45

And she said I only use 46 mins on average and then I told her I wasn't exactly looking to up my minutes.. I just wanted a better price. I told her my intent wasn't to leave but if there are better deals out there that I would be inclined to leave. She then told me my cancellation price would be $400 and put me on hold.

She came back and offered me the deal I posted above. Initially it was that minus Visual Voicemail, just regular voicemail instead which clocked in at $57.50 plus a $5 credit for 2 years. I said I needed Visual Voice and she said I would have to pay $5 for the 2500 SMS and then she could add in Visual Voice because of the way the promo was setup and I said fine.

So we agreed to $62.50 with a $5 credit which comes to $57.50 plus HST.

You might have a better deal than me because I've only been with them 1 year.

Call Fido and ask for the retentions department and say you got an offer from a competetor and see what they can do to keep you. Negotiate from there.

It's not as easy as that, you have to deal with the customer service guy first before you can get to retentions.

Make sure you go in with guns loaded or else they will rip you apart.. as I found out the first time ;)
Also, be nice and polite to the retentions / customer service. Getting mad won't do much. Still, be firm and tell them you're looking for a better deal because other customers are getting better prices. These guys are just normal people doing their jobs that have to deal with the next fussy customer so try and make it smooth for them and they will make it smooth for you.

Anyone know how long it takes an iPhone shipment to come in?
Im a telus guy and ive been waiting a week. Although its not much, my 3G is crapping out on me and I need to upgrade.

What's your plan like?

Below he already posted his plan once. its pretty sick!

let me know how much more you want to argue about rogers "tightening up the deals"

this is one of my phones , i have my wifes i can screenshot to if you dont believe me it "works every time".

my bill is 56.11 every month.

it takes A LOT of haggling and a bunch of phone calls, but if you do it right, you can end up getting what you want for the most part.

here's what i ended up with after about 7 phone calls.

50$ unlimited local calling
20$ 6gb of data (30-10 credit)
free call id
free voicemail
5$ 500 text messages

so it comes to about 75$ + tax. i'm pretty happy about it. and i ended up getting a credit of 50$ for the 1st 2 months of my new contract to essentially bring down the price of my upgraded iphone 4 from 194$ (159 + 35 activation fee) to 94$.

Thanks.

I like that plan and for a very good price aswell.

I have decided that my plan wont exceed 37.50 or ~40.08 (with GRRF) before tax.
250 mins, unlimited even after 6 and weekends
unlimited incoming
6gb data
2500 txt, VM and CID
who called, which is a pain and all those other stuff that comes with the VP.

as i said i pay ~40.08 (GRRF) + tax and my goal is to never go over.

After looking at macmod's plan, my next goal would be to get visual voicemail and r2r for free and maybe get a $5 credit aswell
/plan posting (sorry didnt post to clutter this thread, rather to give people some idea as to what they can get via retentions, being courteous, making them your friend, and lucking out with a good retentions rep. As someone mentioned, check RFD for more tips

I finally got one iPhone from Bell here in the Niagara Region. Unfortunately it is the 16GB for my wife...I want a 32GB. They said no 32GB's have been delivered to their store yet since the launch date in which they only got one. So I have to wait...but my wife is thrilled. :)

I managed to score a great plan I think...because of my employment. I didn't realize that I qualified for a group (corporate) plan through Bell. Fortunately the guy behind the counter was awesome enough to ask me a few questions and find the best plan that I qualify for!!

-250 talk minutes
-unlimited texting
-free evenings after 6pm...free weekends
-unlimited local incoming calls
-call display
-voicemail
-CDN long distance discount 0.08 min.
-USA long distance discount 0.15 min.
-6GB Data
-iPhone 4 16GB for $159.00

For $52.00 a month...no other access fees. So I'm fairly happy with the plan. So when your looking to get a cell phone plan, ask around the providers and see if you qualify for a group or corporate plan based on your employment, or other organization that you might belong too.

The new iPhone 4 is awesome. No signal issues that I have yet....yes I can duplicate the "death grip" and force the phone to lose 2 bars (from 4 to 2). But in truth I live in a historically poor reception area, and the new iPhone actually has a better signal then any other phone I've had.

:eek::eek:
wow I should call cause I pay about 98 a month for the same
6 gig
200 minutes day and unlimted after 6
2500 txt voice, caller id and who called notification

damn! i pay less then half of what you do and also get VM, CID and unlimited incoming. If i were you, i would definitely call.

as for iphone shipments, the best bet is apple store for rogers/fido customers. They seem to get a few phone everyday but people are still lining up outside the store before it opens!

oh and i heard if you try to cancel and cite the reason as to wanting an iphone 4 and telus/bell is giving you right away, they might, might ship you an iphone. This is via retentions at rogers and its varies greatly. Heck if they dont give it to you, just call and see if you give you some credits or goodies to your patience :p
