Awesome. Thanks for the info. From what I understand, they'll also do hardware upgrades through the different carriers, correct? They won't only sell unlocked phones, right?

I'll try to get there at 6am when mall doors open. I wonder if that will be early enough.

Is unicorn a euphemism for white iPhone 4?

Hey, will you have internet access on you when you line up? Do you mind messaging me and tell me how the line up is before I show up? I'm actually considering to go to an Apple Store instead of carrier.
 
I spoke with an Apple rep today, and they said, they will be selling unlocked phones, as well phones with plans of a carrier of our choice. He also said, you will be able to use your Fido dollars towards the iPhone (just not the unlocked one). However he is unclear if I am able to purchase the phone itself (with the carrier - without a plan)

Can someone call and ask their Apple store this?

I am hoping to buy an iPhone 4 - locked to Fido/ without a plan/ and no upgrading. But, I don't want a unlocked phone directly from Apple. I would like to use my Fido Dollars

Correct, my understanding from talking to them is they'll do both. But please talk to them if possible - I don't want to disappoint you with misinformation

I've previously attempted to purchase a 3GS with fido dollars through apple with no avail. Either apple has changed this from last year or this is wrong.

I was told the same thing from the Apple store in Vancouver-I will be able to use my Fido Dollars. Although she asked "are you buying the phone outright?" and I said no-so I'm not sure if she was referring to buying it outright and locked to Fido or outright unlocked.
 
This is odd

I just called apple, I don't know if it is apple canada or not, and learned that online orders will be available on the 31st!

This really not fair since we don't have apple store in Halifax. I think I should never bother myself for such thing since this is really wasteful when it comes to wait almost two months for this phone to release.

and I just spoke to someone at the Fairview Mall in Toronto

They said...

1) unlocked phones are available
2) no need to lineup super early - they will have a lot of phones
3) prices not yet available
4) store opening at 7am

plus the apple rep sounded cute on the phone, so... no reason to go to another store!

How could you reach the apple rep! Every time I called 1800MYAPPLE, I ended up with apple USA

Man, this is really wast of time

Ontario seems to have hot girls. I recommend all alberta iPhone shoppers begin their road trip because with 1000 sleepy, drowsy, gadget-obsessed guys in line she'll be bound to fall in love with one of us. Good find.

I did call apple store in Ottawa, and he said we have no idea about online retail's level. I also called 18006927753, and found that number belongs to apple in Philippine! The rep told me online orders will be available on the 31st which is really so frustrated.

If it's a 1-800 number, it wouldn't be a local Apple store....
 
So far it sounds like Canada has been given plenty of iPhones for the release, something that never happend in the UK.
 
Coud someone kind please help me call the apple store in Vancouver, BC? (oakridge or pacific centre) because i'm in Seattle and cannot call into Canada! I would like to know if we can get the unlocked phones without getting any type of plan whatsoever. I need it to travel internationally and I hate waiting for this unlocking crap! Thank you so much!
