I have to say my peace and I understand that liking or disliking design/color is personal. If you like orange thats great, but I think it's the ugliest, cringiest color apple or any cellphone maker has ever produced. The difference from aluminum, to the antennas, to the ceramic glass cheapens the appearance even more with such a bright color. I have trouble seeing people holding it while walking. With a case it's oddly worse. If you like it thats awesome I just don't.View attachment 2554223View attachment 2554224t.
I love orange. It looks great.

I am still waiting for my Cosmic Orange 17 Pro Max to ship. Estimated delivery between Sept 29th and October 13th. I am upgrading from a Dark Blue 12 Pro Max. My reason for choosing orange is really more for practicality than aesthetics. I will sometimes misplace my phone at home and the darker blue phone makes my current blue phone sometimes difficult to spot. I opted for orange this time mainly with the thought that it might be easier to spot when I misplace it, or less likely that I'll leave it on a table at a restaurant, etc.

I wasn't crazy about any of the color choices, but it is what it is. I upgraded my son to the 17 Pro, but he wanted blue. I have upgraded my wife to "just" the straight 17 in Lavender.

Personal opinion is that it is garish, childish, and even worse, made in cheap aluminum. It will appeal to teenagers and young people, and maybe Seniors with poor eyesight who lose their phone. Wish Apple would keep the Pro line looking Professional in both color and materials. Will not be participating in Upgrade program this year for the first time because I would be embarrassed to use it while working with other professionals. I don't use a case. Aluminum looks cheap in silver and blue as well. For the first time since the Upgrade program started, I'm keeping my 16Pro which looks and works great (desert titanium). ProPhones are work devices for most people and should reflect that level of seriousness.

I guess I'm a not quite senile senior seniorita with no seniority credit due for offering the opinion that I love the colour for what it is: pretty.

As far as looking professional, as someone who has say... been a state investigator for human rights, what's wrong with an orange phone? Would it have limited my ability to elicit factual information from the complainant, respondent, and witnesses?

I would suggest that if people in professional positions are forming judgements based on a phone's colour, maybe they aren't as professional as they should be.

I agree with some of your comments. In general, when you get any strong color, outside of the basics (black, grey, silver, white), matching things become more difficult, whether it be matching clothes or cases. This is usually the case with any strong color.

I got the Orange phone and like it, know that matching it to clothes and cases would be difficult. My situation is a little different than many other folks though.

1) I don't put a case on the phone unless I am going to be doing something that puts the phone at unusually high risk. In those times, I am not concerned with fashion. I do use a wallet on the back of the phone though. This does a few things for me.
a) I don't like a big traditional wallet. I like something smaller and lighter.
b) Having a wallet on the back allows me to set the phone down without the back touching any surface.
c) For the rare times that I place the phone face down (not on hard surfaces), the wallet covers the mis-colored 17 charge area that people are upset about.

2) I'm retired. I don't have to match my phone or case to my clothes, and my phone doesn't have to look professional. I just have to like the look.

Here are a couple of shots of my setup. 99% of the time, my phone is face-up, the other picture shows that most of the charge area is covered, for the rare times my phone is face down. Sorry for the poor quality pictures. I used my ipad in less than optimal lighting, but I hope you get the idea.

I like the color. Very striking, bold and colorful.. but I couldn’t bring myself to get one. I went with deep blue as I generally get black.

I think the orange around the bezels is what made it more difficult for me. I like when the trim sort of blends in with the bezels.

I ordered the Cosmic Orange for pickup in store but switched to blue after seeing both in person.

I would more accurately describe the orange as “peach” or almost like “peach champagne.” It did not look as deep orange as I’d hoped. The ceramic back also felt like it was a very different color. It could have just been the bright light in the store.

Either way, it’s a great option and folks seem to love it so very happy they made this available as a colorful option.

I see some folks say they don't like the ceramic back being such a different color. Obviously, it matters to those that use the phone without a case, or use a clear case. It seems like a lot of people that complain about this put it in a regular case where the back is never seen. For the majority of folks that use a regular case, is the ceramic back really a big deal? 🤷‍♂️

I don't care, I'm just curious... 👍

Well you will likely be skipping next year as well as the 18 pros will likely have the same design and material just different colors, though perhaps the fold will be the professional choice next year

I was looking forward to the color, but in person, I'm not actually a fan. I'm about 90% the way to sending it back and getting a refund.

Yeah I agree. The orange color is less fiery, more softer and feminine. I wanted fire! As I said above, I'm probably sending mine back, not turned/used on, even once.

Feminine? Hmmm. A hundred or so years ago, blue used to be associated with girls and pink with boys.

Make it your own and forget what things society puts in our heads about colour.

It's incredible. It looks a little more bronze sometimes but I kind of like it for that reason. It's by far the best looking of the Pro Maxes this year IMO (the silver aluminum looks especially cheap).

The titanium looked, felt, and performed better, but I like how the orange looks with the unibody frame.

oh, forgot, setting up my phone in the Apple Store, at my table there were 7 people, 3 had orange phones, myself included.
What does that mean? 3 weirdos at the same table? LOL
I think you're gonna see a lot of orange out there in the next year ...

My case will completely cover that part of the back anyway, and I think the fit will be such that the top doesn’t protrude a lot. The Loopy cases I use aren’t really heavy, but they add a little bulk. I don’t mind it because having the loop makes the phones easy to hold and use one-handed.

I think the case I chose is gonna look great with the orange phone because of the colors. I can’t wait to get it, and will have to post a pic when I do (unless it looks bad - lol).

the answer to your question: No.

Though I will say, the apple clear case has a whitish coverage over the ceramic back - that doesn't look right to me.

I have been wanting an orange iPhone for years. Initially I was torn about getting the pro or pro max vs the Air. I decided I didn't need all the bells and whistles of the pro series and opted for a smaller footprint phone. Congrats to those with an orange phone. You should use it naked. Not much point in getting an awesome color just almost the entire phone with a case.
