When I was a kid, a crab almost cut my foot in half as I was walking in the ocean. I stepped on it, and it was defending itself. Man, did that hurt!

Recently, I was working on my bike and found a brown recluse about 1/2" away from my face, on the tire. I'm VERY lucky it didn't bite me.

If you don't know what I mean, google brown recluse bites. NASTY.

An untreated brown recluse bite will rot into a huge, infected "crater" in your flesh. I've been bitten before...I felt a sting on my arm and saw the spider sitting there chomping on me, and I recognized the species immediately and hauled ass to the emergency room. I got treated so quickly that all I had was a red blotch for a few days...thankfully no rotting flesh.

Jellyfish is probably the most exotic creature I've been stung by.

However, just last week, I was riding through the park on the bike path under the trees and felt something go splat on my left thigh. A bird of unknown species **** on me! Then, as I reached down with my left hand to wipe it off, one of these

landed on my right hand!!!

I almost crashed my bicycle as my left hand was wiping up bird doo doo as I was shaking a mildly toxic spider off my right hand.

Fortunately, the Daring Jumping Spider - Phidippus audax isn't very poisonous, but it's fuzzyiness, big green eyes and white mark on the back don't make for cuddly images.

I worked at a pet store, I've been bitten by frickin everything.

Fish, rodents, lizards, birds, cats, dogs, you name it. I think the most exotic one that's ever bitten me was a Jackson's Chameleon.

^ photo is of a male, for effect, but it was a female that bit me. I was moving her from her habitat and she was having none of it. I should have known better when she flashed me black but I was in a hurry. Lesson learned.

A close second might be the female Eclectus that had a nibble.

Many very worthy animals have had a nibble on me but all fingers are still accounted for. :)

For the record, of all the bites I've had, I think I resented being bit by hamsters the most. Little jerks. Oh and budgies. The parrots were never as temperamental. I usually deserved the bites I got from parrots.

This isn't too bad compared to the crazy stuff you guys are posting but on Sunday I was crappie fishing and I hooked a cat fish which was really strange, anyway I forgot that the have big spikes at the end of their pectoral fins and I also forget that they are poisons. So I was pulling the hook out and the spine on it's fin went all the way through my middle finger on my left hand. That thing hurt sooo bad. It's still numb... My 3 year old sister caught one too lol

Had some fire ants tear me up once......not fun at all.

I did last summer "almost" get bitten by one of these is Kuwait:

We were loading up an aircraft with "hot" cargo and I saw one run across the hammerhead......we caught him and put him in an empty GoJo container. They can run pretty fast and can jump a few feet into the air. He was about 7 inches in diameter. We let him go after a while...

No.

Not cuddly. At all.

How big is it?

The body was about the size of a dime, maybe a little smaller. Including the legs it was probably just larger than a quarter.

Ever since then, just the sight of a spider web gives me the heebie jeebies.

I'm with you. every year, one of these basterds spins a web across our basement entrance overnight. The only meeting I'm aware of, was when I was able to stop just before kissing it. Good chance we've had other meetings without my knowledge.

It does make a satisfying thud that you can feel all the way up the stick, when you smack it.

It is horrific but it's also such a cool "design" that I have to admire it. I'd still likely scream and run if I saw one approaching my bare feet.

I want to know what it is. It really doesn't look 'real'.
