just watch Chuck and Fringe, they are much better shows.

What's everybody's thing with Chuck. I mean, obviously people have different tastes and just because I don't like something doesn't mean nobody will... but I am fairly open-minded and can look at things from other peoples point of view but this show just doesn't do anything for me. Is it because I watched the first 4 episodes and quit? I figured it would have hooked me that far in.

I'm officially done with the show too.

I keep feeling like they want me to keep watching just so I'll hope to get some answers as to say..why/how the plane disappeared or why all the passengers died.

Before the show began there was a commercial for it that said something along the lines of..."What do you get if you combined 24 & Lost?"

"The Event."

& i'm like, ".................But I don't wanna combine Lost & 24!"

done & done.

Side note: Community on NBC is HILARIOUS.

So is "Outsourced" on the same night. NBC has the best 2 hour block on regular tv in my opinion.

done & done.

And done plus one.

I hate it when the characters are dumber than rocks.

The lead dude should by now be totally paranoid, but he escapes the black helicopters, lands in the hospital and blabs the whole story to the first nurse that comes by.

Stupid, Stupid, Stupid.

Of course someone could say he was delirious with heat stroke and couldn't help himself, which then changes my complaint from stupidity to bad acting.

Bad, bad, acting.

Done.

One sure sign that your show isn't doing well... over 24 hours without one post.

This patient is D.O.A.

I really, really wanted to like this show. I always like to have one one-hour drama, hopefully with an on-going story line, to watch every year. I gave this show two episodes and its just unwatchable on every level.

Some people sure are critical. I thought the show was really good. Definitely a replacement for Lost.

Disagree. I found the premier distant and trying to hard to be extreme or over the top. The show needs to have a base with characters i care about, a story that is told well( not likely flashbacks being whenever) and ....not a main actor i don't care for.

Lost from the onset give you great characters that you cared about the instant you met them. You grew to love them and want to know what they did and who they were. THey had a story that was interesting, created discussion and was never seen on television. Also.....i never eactivly hated anyone..except nikki and paulo but of course, everyone did.

Everyone wants to have a show that can replace lost as a sci fi adventure but lost was not sci fi on the onset, it become sci fi as we went deeper within the show and the island.

You might want to read the first page or so of this thread. It might enlighten you on another show that was thought to be “over the top.”

"I am mixed on this show after watching. The "monster" is a bit over the top.”

"Yeah. Doesn't sound too exciting does it? I thought it was a good program until the "monster" bit... ah well. I'll give it a few more watches.”

"I didn't really like the monster part of the plot. You could accept the rest of the story with a small grain of salt, but the monster requires one very large grain.”

"I must say, the pilot didn't give me the slightest interest in seeing the next episode. It's like the network's trying to create a scripted drama out of all the Survivor/Fear Factor-type reality shows. The pacing is contrived and predictable--snippets of emotional, human interaction are alternated back and forth with Oh My God! Another Emergency! complications.”

"The writing and character interaction would have to have been a heckuva lot better to make this overwrought manipulation of every dramatic mechanism at all interesting.”

"Good thing we're not in the focus group..”

"And how do you get people interested in 48 characters?”

"i've heard very good things about this series, reviews etc saying that its one of the best new shows of the new season. I wouldn't miss it!!!!”

and then:

"Aren't these the same people that say "The Cat In The Hat was a wonderful romp through the days of our youth"? Liars! Liars!”

"I wonder what hour of wasted time THEY were watching? The only reason that I can see in watching more is to find out if this is "reality" survival fictional series or some "fantasy" series. For a weekly series I am only wiling to keep track of 10 to 12 characters. Not 48 "survivors". And some Jurassic Park reject.

I hope that ABC loses their pensions on this one.”

"Anybody still watching this show? It's not stellar, but it's still ok.” Doctor Q quote

"Next week, Kate, Charlie, Sawyer, Sayid, Boone, and Shannon explore the far side of island. What do they find? Mr. Roarke (Ricardo Montelban) and Tattoo (Herve Villechaize) saying "De plane, Boss! De plane!””

NOT TO MENTION all the jokes that were made all through those first two pages. Eventually the show took off and the rest is history.

my concern is that this premise doesn't really support a long (read multi-year) story arc without a lot of dragging.
if this is thought of as a one-year (ideally) or two-year series, it could be great.
if it is seen as an open series then there could be problems down the stretch, unless the "event" part is more the excuse to introduce what the rest of the show will be about.

to me it looks much more like Flashforward or Daybreak than Lost. and I am afraid it might end the same way.

hopefully they know what they are doing and we get a great show.

Guess it all depends on the viewer. I found Lost overly coy and written not to pique interest but to frustrate the holy bejeezus out of the viewer. I found Jack dull, Sawyer a swaggering jerk, and Locke (before he died) hopelessly out of touch.

OTOH, so far I'm liking The Event's Sean because it seems he's being put into a classic Hitchcockian situation: the innocent outsider caught in the middle of something big that he doesn't understand. I don't know that the
alien angle is the way to go, though. Does nearly every serial TV show lately have to have a sci-fi/fantasy aspect to it??

 why are we putting spoilers tags on obvious aspects of the show?
it's not as if this is something that you got from secret sources or that it was just aired a minute ago so the fellows on the west coast don't know yet.

besides, we are not even sure they are truly aliens yet. it is what the narrative suggests, but that could be misdirection.

...Because it was just mentioned in the last episode, and some people catch the show later via the web or on-demand? Don't ask me, I wasn't one of those people who did the "discuss-every-single-episode-of-Lost-with-spoilers" thing. I'm new to this. ;)

Well, GREAT! Now you've gone and ruined it for everybody!! :D

And yes, I had the same thought -- and it would be a nice twist if they're stranded time travelers or something. It'd at least be more original than aliens. It probably is aliens, though, judging from the discussion of their DNA...not to mention the guy pulling fake tubes of blood out of his arm.

i can see using spoiler tags the night of the show, i'm fine with that.
but it doesn't make any sense if it's for an extended period of time, if you want to watch the show unspoiled next year, don't read anything about it, and most definitively do not visit a thread dedicated to the show: either we discuss the show or we don't.
spoilers (things that ANTICIPATE the events on the show) are one thing but stuff that is now HISTORY is a diifferent story.

anyway, the DNA tging is interesting, but if they are from a distant future there could have been time for such changes.
Or a parallel universe that 'separated' in the past.
in fact, the DNA aspect would be most inexplicable for aliens. it would be impossible for the DNA to be so similar if they weren't related to us.

Struggling through episode 3 now. This show is almost a parody of sci-fi/conspiracy shows. Probably won't make it to ep 4. Three less then this show will probably last.

Man this show is realllllly pushing the limit. But the survivor thing and the main character(the young guy) us keeping me watching.
