As a matter of fact i did read that news but it is not worth to be considered seriously, just another rumor. Show me a case or something similar then we are talking.

Personally i found this more relevant at this point:

Apple Removes The iPod From Their Website’s Top Menu
Of course Apple could completely surprise us with a new generation of iPods down the road, but in the meantime it doesn’t seem very likely.

Wow, I thought you were much older with the "oldmacs" screen name. Had no idea you were younger then me.

Good to see younger dudes having educated discussions.

Gaming handhelds are a dying breed. They need to start porting their games to Mobile OS.

i still want a nintendo DS playing the games i grew up with when i was in elementary school (Zelda OOT & MM, Starfox 64, etc etc)

GTA on iOS is a prime example. Nintendo's ancient ways of board decisions is driving the company down.

They need to ditch their hardware if their upcoming next gen fails. IMO, the Wii's innovations didnt make up for the huge lack of graphics compared to PCs, 360, and PS3. (Reminds me of Sega, but Nintendo has a MUCH stronger brand name and brand games)
Nintendo has announced they're putting some games onto mobile. Mind you, they're not going to be full ports. Don't expect to see the NES version of The Legend Of Zelda on Android or iOS. Some of their games can't be played or played well without physical controllers. Instead, they're just going to create some games that work well with a touch screen and possible gyroscopic features.

They really shouldn't ditch their hardware.
1) it ties the software to it.
2) the hardware is designed to work with the software.

It'd be like Apple letting other manufacturers make iOS devices. Why give up that control?

In fairness, he's right. A rumor is not proof, even at MR.

What would you consider proof then ? Every thing that comes out about any Apple product is hear say or conjecture till Apple officially announces a product.

A rumor published by a reputable site is not absolute proof but, I consider it more than the claimed 0% proof.

Who's going to buy those games?

Did those GTA side games fare well as much as the real ones when it came to iOS or gaming mobile platforms?

The money and market is there.

They're hardware is crap, the Wii was crap, the 3DS is OK and main reason it survives is through pokemon and other nintendo game brands.

Its quite obvious that Xbox and Playstation dominate the market and Nintendo has been playing catch up ever since the gamecube.

If they fail with this next gen console as well, i can see them ditching their hardware just like sega did.

Why give up the control? Because they're not making money. Nintendo isn't in the business to be in the shadow of sony and microsoft (in the console industry). They took a gamble and went with innovation rather then graphics and they failed.

They have all the control, they just need to give a cut to apple and who knows how negotiable that'll be.

Nintendo + Apple partnership would be huge and it would just market itself.

^ Problem with that is there were many rumors about an ipod touch 6 last year all became false at the end.
There were a few people saying they were gonna announce one this month on the latest conference....false.

You are pretty much free to believe it if you want that's your choice, for me an ipad pro has more chances right now to happen that an ipod touch 6.

There are many on the net right now. Show me another news about the ipod touch 6 apart from the one on this site? and no Christian Today doesn't count. :D

both have high chances, because its all for businesses. iPad Pro is a for sure.

You can be an idiot and realize that Mobile Devices are obviously going to replace a lot of work that Computers do.

In the future yes, when all the componentes become so small, right now an ipod pro can't replace a gamer pc for example not yet.

Personally i found the size of that ipad pro pretty stupid and useless but that's just my opinion, i have 0 interest on it.

and yes ipad pro is a for sure, ipod touch 6 is for not sure pretty much a no. ;)

Personally i believe they are giving us IOS9 still for the ipod touch 5 because there's not gonna be an ipod touch 6 this year either.

But again this is only my logic, i don't work for Apple i can't be 100% sure.

Exactly that: proof is the actual, final product. It's not that a rumor is not absolute proof, it isn't proof of any kind. The rumor may be proof that it's likely, but it isn't proof that the actual product will actually be introduced.

I took his comments to mean that there is 0% proof the Touch 6 is likely to come out. I disagree and gave him a link.

This might not be an ipod touch 5 i know but...

Apple Removes Original iPad Mini From Apple Online Store
https://www.macrumors.com/2015/06/19/original-ipad-mini-removed-from-apple-store/

It was originally released: Release date November 2, 2012, pretty much as older as the touch.

Maybe the IPT5 is next..

update: LOL i'm not the only one who thought that:

Apple discontinues original iPad mini, iPod Touch next?

It also brings to a close the 32-bit era for iPads, with the current iPad lineup now consisting of either the A7 or the A8X processor, both of which are 64-bit chips.

Indeed, the only A5-powered device left in Apple’s on-sale range is the iPod Touch 5th-generation, now looking a bit long in the tooth and waiting for a 6th-generation

^ For me that's enough proof when something is really coming...

I'd love to see a similar image for the ipod touch 6 but so far nothing....

Apple should be aware of at least 2 markets that are growing fast.
1. home automation / smart devices using small Ras Pi type computers
2. business use.

The total cost for a Ras Pi type setup is close to $200 if you need a good screen, battery, camera, etc... This can make an older phone/pad/touch a good target for something like a smart fridge or smart home automation interface.

The post before about business use (scanner, security, etc...) is spot on. If you compare the cost of making a product from a Ras Pi vs a system that ready to load software out of the box, an iPT looks good.

The per unit cost of the iPhone/iPad Mini makes them out of reach for a business that likely already have employees with devices.

I hope Apple see this and offers a full blown upgrade instead of a half upgrade at full upgrade price like they did with the mini.

finally someone that gets the bigger picture.

Everyone keeps thinking about consumer/personal needs.

10 years from now everything is going to be mobile device driven and theres going to be less computers.

Hell most office work can be done on mobile devices these days

This is exactly what I first thought when I saw that Apple stopped selling the iPad mini 1st gen on the store. Another "hint" that there will maybe be a new iPod touch soon.

Nobody is sure that a Touch 6 will be released but, the one thing that seems pretty sure is that Apple will stop selling the remaining A5 devices this fall.

That wasn't my point of view but the author's one.
I disagree the ipad mini and the ipod touch are different products, ipad is still a relevant product on the main menu while the ipod touch is not.

BTW apparently i took that news from a garbage site itwire (like Christian Today), completely irrelevant my bad.

yeah it appears to be the exactly ipod touch 5 on 3 new colors...
Even more disappointing is the lack of Touch ID and true-tone flash, and it appears that the camera has been unchanged (I can tell based on the size of the aperture). It's probably like an iPad Mini 2 in specs, just like the current one is like an iPad Mini 1.

It's interesting that, in terms of design, the iPod touch generations seem to follow an "S" cycle. The 2nd and 3rd generations looked the same, and now the 5th and possible 6th generations will look the same. Should there ever be a 7th generation iPod touch, then it would likely have a brand-new design.
